Summary: I have been using this keyboard daily for several months and have finally given up. The keyboard mat will shift after a few months of regular use, rendering the left shift and alt keys nonfunctional. You can open it up and fix the problem, but that will void the warranty. The setpoint software has lots of problems with XP SP2. Updates are very infrequent. They don't use the Microsoft bluetooth stack. If you don't use setpoint, then the media pad is non functional. The mouse barely gets through a day of work before needing a recharge. I really wanted to like this thing, and was willing to pay lots of money for it, but I have finally given up. If you want to see some fustrated users, check out the logitech support forums. I did manage to get my Palm Tungsten to connect to the hub, but it took a lot of hacking and checking out various tricks. Do not buy this thinking that you will have a nice bluetooth hub.
Do yourself a big favor, and buy something else.8 out of 8 users found this user opinion helpful.

looks like a high end sports car drives like a junker

Summary: I was using SetPoint 2.22 but had to uninstall. The software is buggy and often times fails in finding devices. I always seemed to loose connection with my media pad. I also had to wait a long time for the devices that were discovered to work. That was a big problem. I uninstalled all the logitech software and let Windows XP discover the devices. This works much better! Now, the devices are discovered faster and run better. The downside is there is no support for media functions ( vol, mute, media play...) Logitech please work on your software. I paid big bucks and wanted a fully featured product that works 100% of the time. I am left with hardware only.

Depends on what you're looking for

Pros: Looks great on the desk, uses minimum space, good key feel

Summary: If you're looking for a fully functional keyboard, beware. If you're looking for a keyboard that looks good and works well for "light typing" such as e-mail and web browsing this is probably the keyboard for you.
My major objection is that this keyboard does not have a Num Lock key and does not support the use of the numeric 10-key pad in conjuction with the ALT key to enter ASCII character codes. This will probably seem like a quibble, but as a developer and technical writer it is a fatal flaw. This is documented nowhere in the technical specifications, but is commented upon in the Logitech user forum. The "workaround" is to use the Windows character map whenever you need accented letters (èôü) or special symbols (¿¶§). What this means is that the numeric keypad (a.k.a. media something-or-other) isn't really a numeric keypad in the same way that it is on a standard 101-key keyboard.
A second, and almost equally important flaw, is that the keyboard layout is extremelty idiosyncratic. The space bar is incredibly long, which means that to press the left ALT key you have deeply bend your left thumb to the point that in 30 minutes I started to feel an impending case of tendonitis. In addition, the F keys are all shifted over one space from their usual position, so that the F1 key is constantly being pressed when reaching for the F2 key. No doubt, that problem would diminish with use. (Consistent with many new keyboards, the F keys all have other functions printed on their horizontal surface with the F1 - F12 printed on the vertical surface in blue.) On a positive note, the feel of the keyboard was great and it was very quiet.
Set-up was a adventure in faith-based software installation. After trying this and trying that, I was finally able to install the BlueTooth hub and WinXP Pro recognized the keyboard, mouse, and media pad devices. It was far from clear that Logitech actually tested the installation procedure on an adequate sample of machines. This has been reported in other posts as well.
Software installation was fairly straightforward, but I'm not convinced Logitech did much compatibility testing with even standard Win applications.
Documentation included in the box is practically non-existent, and the Logitech website only provides the "how to set up" sheet even if it describes it as the product "manual". Figuring out what each setting is is really matter of guesswork and trial-and-error, which isn't all bad as that's the way a lot of people (me included) figure out how new software & hardware works.
At the end of the weekend, I concluded that this was not the keyboard for me, uninstalled the entire thing, and returned it to the store for a refund. Unfortunately, I could not persuade my system that the BT hub that shipped was really uninstalled and had to "restore" my system back to a restore point prior to the installation of the diNovo. Things are still not quite back to normal and so there's a de novo OS re-install in my future.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

WORST KEYBOARD EVER
by rolandsf on September 25, 2005

Summary: This is clearly one of the worst consumer products I've had the misfortune of wasting money on. It's a great looking keyboard, and I love the laptop feel of the keys, but that's about it. The drivers are miserable -- connectivity to the devices is constantly dropping out, even after i disabled all other wireless gear in my house and set the mouse and keyboard 18 inches from the hub. Also, the software loads this lame Bluetooth Console on your desktop... like so many unfortunate products today, it installs a bunch of other unwanted, unneccesary software on your system and doesn't give you the option of removing it. Another kicker is that you can't hook it up through a KVM switch -- I guess Logitech has never heard of people having more than two systems they might want to use a single keyboard for? (I imagine their Quality Assurance staff doesn't even have one computer) Bottom line -- I'll never buy another Logitech product again.

Loved it till they said Windows 7
by pfb3_tech on April 7, 2009
Pros: Sleek and stylish. Easy to type on, never missed a keystroke. Loved the one-touch buttons for websites and media. The media pad was great, pause, play, and volume/mute all easily accessible. Overall I wouldn't have traded it in for anything, but...
Cons: ... it craps out on Windows 7... It worked great in XP, great in Vista. I BSOD the other day from my own overclocking attempt, somehow cook a hdd, back up and running, and today the whole thing craps out. Moved it to another machine (XP) all good.
Summary: Would have never given it up for this Cordless S520 from Logitech if Windows 7 wasn't so much lighter than vista.

Mouse lags.Throw it out. Keyboard works fine.
by yauheniya on November 14, 2008
Pros: I like the keyboard design. It doesn't take a lot of space on my desk. Easy to relocate. Nice and light. DIdnt get to notice any good features about the mouse.
Cons: How are you supposed to navigate the cursor if it always moves on it's own? It gets so frustrating when it starts lagging.
Summary: Logitech lacks intelligent people in their technical support. I know how to turn the mouse on and off, do you think they could help you with an actual issue you ...

I know how to turn the mouse on and off, do you think they could help you with an actual issue you are having, insted of sending emails which only ask you to make sure that your mouse is turned on. Dont get this product. You will have more issues than satisfaction.

Too many issues - Do not buy!

Pros: Looks nice.
Cons: MediaPad does not connect properly. Technical support from Logitech is useless. Keyboard and mouse will FREQUENTLY disconnect and not function for around 30 seconds.

Summary: This product looks really great on your desk, but I have had nothing but trouble. I have not been able to get the MediaPad to work at all (have tried it in XP and Vista, with 3 versions of the software). Most annoyingly the keyboard and mouse will just stop working at any time. It will work again about 30 seconds later. This can happen every 5 minutes or every few hours. For over $200... this is a joke. Do not buy this product.

Summary: I have had this at work, and another at home for over 2 years and use them both every day with little to no problems. Once I got the bluetooth link working on my laptop I had to name them home and work to make sure it doesn't search for the work at home and the home at work, but from then on connecting was never a problem.
I listen to internet radio while in the office and have found that I love the mute, up and down volume buttons on both the keyboard and media pad, it makes it effortless to mute when ever I need to jump on the phone or take a meeting in my office.
My issues with this are primarily related to charging the mouse....it has at times not connected the little contacts on the mouse to the little contacts on the charger so even though the mouse is in the charger it doesn't charge, making them bigger or not down so deep in the charger so you don't have to slam it down or wiggle it until you are sure the light comes on....and even if it does come on it has at times lost its connection to the charging.
I have while using the number pad (123)as an input device (verses Navigation (NAV) and calculator (+/=) at times wished that there were more buttons on the media/number pad such as the comma, =, backspace/delete and the arrows to allow for almost making the keyboard obsolete when working in any math functions.
