A keyboard that is very functional for a cheap price.
by cybermotors on July 29, 2010
Pros: Custom color back lighting(well, somewhat), 12 x 3 programmable G keys, has a good software to program key's with, and has a USB port and headphone/mic ports as well (built in audio card.) has some very nice buttons, and has a cheap price.
Cons: The hand rest has a cheap feel too it, pretty obvious since its plastic. The custom lighting, is not too bright and not much of a variety of colors, just red and blue and everything in between. It is very large, but most people can cope with that.
Summary: An excellent keyboard, with somewhat custom color back lighting, audio and USB port at the back, and has a nice rich feel too it (excluding the plastic hand rest of ...

Summary: An excellent keyboard, with somewhat custom color back lighting, audio and USB port at the back, and has a nice rich feel too it (excluding the plastic hand rest of course.) Something that most people should check out in store before buying, because it helps and usually informs the consumer if the keyboard is good or too large. The keyboard looks nice, and is very functional for a very low price (compared to other logitech keyboards)

Summary: Tried every USB port on 3 different computers now and Windows doesn't recognize it as a keyboard. The CD that comes with the keyboard never recognizes the keyboard either, so obviously the drivers aren't meant for Windows. I've even tried downloading "new" drivers from the Logitech site, but no help.
Save your money for a non-Logitech device. They still have trouble writing drivers for Windows OS.

Good keyboard with a few flaws
by ruslancanada on December 23, 2010
Pros: Love on-the-fly macros, and per-application macro assignments. Good tactile response. Back-lit keys. Like to volume wheel and built-in headphone/microphone controls.
Cons: Cannot use with a KVM switch or non-powered USB hub, and cannot use a USB drive with the keyboard. Flimsy wrist pad. Hard plastic makes squeaky sounds. Macros do not always work as programmed. No easy way to simulate Power/Sleep, Media Center keys.
Summary: I am a programmer, and this keyboard is a good productivity booster.

Summary: I am a programmer, and this keyboard is a good productivity booster.
It took a while to get used to the G-keys. Since they are placed on the left side of the keyboard, I still occasionally hit G1 instead of Escape, and bottom rows for the Shift and Control keys. But, now it happens very rarely.
What package, manual and Logitech web site neglect to mention is the power requirement for the USB 2.0 port. If you plug the keyboard into a KVM switch or a non-powered USB hub, it will not function AT ALL! I use a KVM switch at work, and I ended up using Remote Desktop to work around the limitation.
One thing that bothers me a lot is that not always macros work well, especially when used with Remote Desktop or with Virtual PC. Most noticeably, multi-key combinations with Control/Alt/Shift keys.
E.g. macro programmed to output the @ character in an email address would output 2 instead.
Personally, I think it is a driver issue, and hope it is going to be fixed with a future driver update.
I wish there was a way to use G-keys with Ctrl/Alt/Shift/Win keys. That would create four additional banks of macro keys.
And, what I dislike the most is the flimsy hollow wrist pad. It is simply unacceptable for a keyboard of such class. It is like selling a Porshe with plastic hub caps. The keys are made of hard plastic that used to make squeaky sounds, so I lubricated the key shafts with petroleum jelly which made them to operate silky-smooth.
A few deficiencies aside, it is a pretty good keyboard. However, it is a bit overpriced in my opinion.

LED Back-lighting is intermittent.
by Minkya on October 22, 2010
Pros: Smooth, ergonomic, quiet & sharp looking. USB & audio ports a plus
Cons: Flimsy wrist rest (is hollow plastic snap-on piece). Back-lighting doesn't stay on when I use
on my Windows 7 64 bit PC. All the right troubleshooting hasn't fixed it. I believe it's a driver
problem or Microsoft/Logitech bumping heads.

Summary: I can get the keys to light AFTER my PC is all booted up and only IF I re-seat the USB
cable. Funny thing is, it performs fine on my old Win XP Home PC. It would be awesome if it worked
as advertised. Unlit keys that are black are impossible to read in dim light. All else is just fine
with it. Logitech is a stand-up company with excellent support. They are replacing the keyboard for
me but I think it is not a hardware issue. When it is lit it is really awesome to use. Makes a 4 star PC a 5-star.
