Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard
Manufacturer: Logitech Part number: 967599-0403
- Bottom Line:
- Logitech's G15 Gaming Keyboard is an ambitious attempt at the ultimate frag aid. The LCD screen is an inventive addition, but other features such as customizable keys, blue LED backlighting, and built-in USB ports have more practical applications. If you're serious about gaming and like to tinker with mini apps, the G15 is the keyboard for you.

The good: Tons of keys and customization options; LCD screen can display in-game data and other info; backlit keys for typing in the dark; USB ports on back; toggle lets you disable the Windows key.
The bad: Large keys feel clunky; USB ports not USB 2.0; limited number of apps for the LCD screen, fewer still the average user will find useful; big.
The bottom line: Logitech's G15 Gaming Keyboard is an ambitious attempt at the ultimate frag aid. The LCD screen is an inventive addition, but other features such as customizable keys, blue LED backlighting, and built-in USB ports have more practical applications. Excellent gaming keyboard

Summary: I got this keyboard as a gift and boy was I excited, I had heard all this hype of the G15 and how it was supposed to revolutionize game play for the hard core gamer. (Okay I exagerrated..But I did hear it was one of the best:P) At first glance I saw that it was beautiful and sleek, the keys really are soft touch and not noisy and upon plugging it in the blue background keys start glowing. I really wanted this keyboard for the g key features, you can set up your keys within the program with time delay and all. In an RPG game you can do it from within the game I'm sure but the G15 did it seamlessly and without the coding flaws.
Best Keyboard ever Owned
by Protoman07 on December 30, 2007
Pros: Does everything.
Cons: Only complaint is really a pro...it has man buttons, I have programmed almost everything I would need into the keys, and still have about 10more buttons I can program.

Summary: A great board with display panel, only for those who play the very few games who support this feature, My Logitech G15 sticker doesn't stick :S, i've had issues with the slow usb, customizable keys seem pointless for those who game casually for css for example, my colume control screwed after 3 months, now lets get onto the positive notes.
Great board for spilling water in lol, elevated edges below buttons to avoid water spilling on the inner keypad and basically frying your board. Wicked design, extra keys are very usefull for sttategy games that have to many commands. Don't get me wrong it's a sick board, it could just use a few tweeks
Innovative, and very useful!

Summary: Ahh the infamous Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard (not to be confused with the recently released Logitech G15 Keyboard... because this one is for gaming)! At a quick glance, pictures of this keyboard pretty much drag viewers in. The flipped up LED screen and the blue keys are almost enough for you to click "Purchase" and buy it instantly.
Don't let the pictures fool you! While this keyboard is probably one of the most durable keyboards I have ever purchased, it also has it's cons. When the G-Pad was first released, I thought it was awesome. I never actually used it, but the fact that it was there reassured me that I could use it if I needed it. Over time, it got annoying. I would try to write e-mails but every time I made my way to the left side of the keyboard to hit a number or escape, I would accidentally hit a G-Pad key because I was used to escape being all the way to the left. It took some getting used to. Of course, when this keyboard first arrived on the market, it was one of the only keyboards with the lit up keys. Now, the Saitek Eclipse II has taken over with interchangeable LED keys. After excessive use, the keys also started to wear. Lastly, I was not a fan of the size of the keyboard. I took it to college and attempted to fit it in the desk they gave us. It was about one inch too large.
Now for the pros. This keyboard is DURABLE with a capital everything. I have dropped this keyboard multiple times and it still works perfectly. The LED screen still works, all the keys still work, it really is astonishing since I break most things within the first three months (including my Saitek Eclipse II). Of course some of the keyboard has worn off, such as the keys and parts of the plastic, but for owning this keyboard for more than a year now, it's held up great. For those of you who enjoy having a G-Pad, that's another plus for you. Obviously, if you've never owned a keyboard with LED keys, this will also be pretty cool for you. The LED screen offers its own advantage if you want to use it, although I never found it that useful.
Overall, it's a good keyboard. Maybe not worth the price a lot of retailers are selling it for, but it will last you a long time and you can bring it places.

Pros: Monitors CPU and RAM in the LCD display. 54 customized keyboard macros.
Cons: Build in USB port is only USB 1.0. Needs more preset game profiles.

Summary: The keyboard is illuminated by midnight blue light. There are 2 brightness settings to adjust the brightness either way it is just right (not too bright or dim). The macro keys are intuitive to use and is easy to program so you won't need to read the manual. The lcd display is useful for monitoring CPU and RAM performance in games. There is a program you can use called FRAPs to monitor FPS as well. I wish there were a hard disk monitor. This keyboard is about 3-4 inches wider than an ordinary keyboard so make sure you clear some room on your desk.
It's HUGE and it doesn't like Vista
by TikritDaniel on April 16, 2007
Pros: Backlit, LCD screen has great apps
Cons: Not Vista-friendly, MASSIVE footprint, Tray icons won't go away, USB1.1

Summary: This is a good keyboard. It functioned perfectly in XP, but the support for Vista is limited. Even the "Vista-friendly" driver doesn't correct the issues: no LCD-support for volume control & lots of LCS modes don't work right or crash (specifically performance monitor & media controller)
I'm getting ahead of myself because I really was surprised at how many useful LCD modes there are. My favorite is the clock, but I was amazed that the performance monitor (some bars that show RAM & CPU) checked all FOUR of my cores (QX6700). Sadly, that's another feature that doesn't work in Vista.
I didn't expect the LCD to work in any of the games I play, but it does in Neverwinter Nights 2, very smartly showing stats of the currently selected character. How cool.
A major gripe in XP & Vista is that you can't kill the tray icons. And Logitech puts two in there... one for the LCD, the other for the profile (which lets you customize the "G" keys on the left). Most reboots, the LCD tray icon doesn't even remember that it's supposed to be hidden, so that makes one more hassle I'd rather not have.
Finally, the thing has a HUGE footprint. I expected it would be large, but I personally believe it could be far less of a Goliath. It is almost wider than my 24" display. Since I have my mouse pad to the right, I have to reach quite a ways to get to the joystick.
Were it not for the tray icons, the massive footprint, & Vista bugs, I'd have certainly given this keyboard a 10.

Summary: I use this keyboard on my main PC. The game i play is Battlefield 2142. I don't know how i even put up a fight before i had this!!Using the G-Keys you can program them to be whatever you want. I can easily be a Great Commander and soldier at the same time when im into it. Worth the price, lack of support for the LCD is a bad thing, but its pretty cool to have. Oh yea and the keys are illuminated so you can play with no trouble in the dark.
great deal for what you get

Summary: overall i couldnt be happier... i can be playing a game and listening to itunes at the same time, and change my songs and volume without leaving my game. also the backlit keys are very helpfull although the keys are a little odd sized. i have very few complaints about this. thats why i added it attracts dust. the meterial gets dusty and is tough to clean, but it doesnt really bother me. i cant wait till they come out with the next model.
