- It's hard to get too excited about Logitech's basic Cordless Desktop S520, but on close inspection, a few design elements help it stand out. If you typically find keyboard hot keys a good idea that's poorly implemented, we think you'll like this mostly well-designed mouse and keyboard set.

Nice as long as it worked!
by GeoSci40 on July 24, 2009
Pros: First wireless - freedom was nice.
Cons: Letters "O", "L", "M" stopped working unless hit VERY hard after only a few weeks!
Summary: Have read others with same problem - something is wrong with "O", "L", "M" keys!

Somtimes Misses kystrokes
by cfivince on April 24, 2009
Pros: Battery Life. Dedicated Calc button., Volume Control & Mute.
Cons: Keyboard misses strokes, receiver needs to be really close to keyboard to be reliable. Can't actuate most hotkeys with one hand since function button is only on right side of keyboard and I use my right hand on the mouse most of the time.
Summary: I've been using this Keyboard for 4 months and I want to go back to a corded keyboard. It seems to miss some kestrokes and find myself hitting the ...

All the keys you could want in less space
by jksgvb on February 8, 2009
Pros: This is a nice looking keyboard and mouse that work as advertised. Logitech has done their homework as usual. The keys are quiet and have a nice touch. The mouse, although a little heavy, works very well also.
Cons: The wrist rest that looks like it's detachable in pictures doesn't detach. I haven't figured out how to enter BIOS with a wireless keyboard yet, so I still keep a wired one for that purpose. The mute key should be separate from the volume keys.
Summary: The keyboard is just under 17.25 inches wide and has a standard entry key and backslash key in the usual place. Other compact keyboards hide the backslash in strange ...
Summary: The keyboard is just under 17.25 inches wide and has a standard entry key and backslash key in the usual place. Other compact keyboards hide the backslash in strange places. Logitech's drivers are excellent and work with 64-bit Vista Home Premium--a big step above the funkware drivers included in so many 3rd party peripherals. Logitech puts the USB antenna on the desktop which gives it excellent range. You can type from 20 ft away no problem if you have a big display. Plus you can verify via LEDs when the keyboard and mouse are in standby and when they're active and communicating with the antenna. This is a very well engineered product at a very reasonable price.

Keys stopped working, one by one
by purple_frogs on April 19, 2010
Pros: Works out of the box with PC and Mac, no setup required. The included wireless mouse is pretty good, though it requires quite a bit of force to click the button.
Cons: From the start, I had to use very hard keypresses to type on this keyboard. After 6 months of moderate use, some keys got much harder to press, starting with O, K, and L, and eventually stopped working no matter how hard I pressed them.
Summary: Terrible quality control! The keys not working is a simple manufacturing issue - not software or wiring - the key caps simply weren't making contact with the switches below! ...
Summary: Terrible quality control! The keys not working is a simple manufacturing issue - not software or wiring - the key caps simply weren't making contact with the switches below! I cut up some eraser tips and put them below the key caps, and the keyboard started working better but felt terrible to type on. Perhaps if you're used to typing on an old Remington, this would mimic that experience, but for me, this keyboard required such forceful key presses on that it started giving me a repetitive strain injury. I expected much better quality from Logitech!!!

Worst quality Logitech product I have ever purchased
by Froggels on March 5, 2009
Pros: It's a sleek and quiet and attractively designed nice if it works.
Cons: I had to return the product three times to the store because some keys would not respond while typing normally.

Summary: While it's an attractive keyboard and has nice features, the quality is by far inferior to any Logitech product I have ever purchased as many of the keys would not respond properly out of the box. I am *finally* able to type this review on one of them after three trips to the store. The included cordless laser mouse is also poorly designed with its flat surfaces that fit in neither the left nor right hand very well. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if it was designed in the 1980s when the Atari 2600 joystick felt good in one's hands.

Great price, seamless response, & great hotkey spots!
by SteadyMethodz on July 20, 2009
Pros: Hot key locations are comfortably accessible & this time you won't forget they're there! Price is perfect! Simple design and keys are located near perfect! RF Signal is awesome on this product!
Cons: Keys are slightly smaller than I would like having me trip onto the next key at times. Wrist area is bigger than needed. No charging option but this is still a budget combo!
Summary: This is a great set to get the job done and works well for my Media Center setup. Key locations are near perfect and hotkeys are finally more location friendly. ...
Summary: This is a great set to get the job done and works well for my Media Center setup. Key locations are near perfect and hotkeys are finally more location friendly. Uses conventional RF signaling and standard AA batteries in both devices. Great buy, nothing extra and nothing less!

Lasted less than 2 years like last Logitech keyboard
by Doggyyboy on January 17, 2012
Pros: Worked OK initially
Built in wrist rest
Nice mouse shapeCons: Some keys started getting sticky after about a year, eventually needing several hard jabs to work (& yes I tried cleaning them)
Sender on the end of a cord adds clutter to your deskSummary: You'll find lots of complaints about keys wearing out prematurely on these. This keyboard is rubbish! It was a replacement for my last Logitech keyboard which also died after ...

My last Logitech purchase.
by Tehninjo0 on April 14, 2011
Pros: Looks nice and is well sized.
Cons: Period Key stopped working after 4 months and poor reception (we are talking less than a half a foot once batteries start running low).
Summary: The period key stopped working after some 4 months of regular use. The reception is terrible. Even with fresh batteries I can hardly move more than a foot or so ...
Summary: The period key stopped working after some 4 months of regular use. The reception is terrible. Even with fresh batteries I can hardly move more than a foot or so away from the receiver. Oh and when I ordered a replacement receiver it took Logitech 4+ months to send it. By then, of course, I had long since replaced the entire set figuring my order had been lost... When I checked my bank statements the following day, I saw I had been charged for the item, so I returned it (unopened I might add) and requested a refund. Let's just say I am now out of my 20 bucks and the receiver. This was the last Logitech product I ever bought.

Just the right keyboard & mouse combo I needed
by jxguy on March 14, 2010
Pros: - LASER Mouse, so you can use it on any surface.
- Right size, don't take up too much space on the desk
- Acceptable tactile feel from the keyboard keys.
- CordlessCons: - Mouse a little heavy, but is alright after a while.
Summary: All I can say, I got what I wanted and very please with it. At this price I got a laser mouse with a reasonably good keyboard, I have no ...
