The good: Easy to set up and use; software quickly recognizes your fingerprint.
The bad: Works only with Microsoft's own Internet Explorer browser.
The bottom line: With Microsoft's Optical Desktop with Fingerprint Reader, you have a simple and safe way to access password-protected Web sites through Internet Explorer.
"one of the greatest things ever seen"
Pros: Microsoft's Optical Desktop with Fingerprint Reader was really fun to use, which is saying quite a bit because we are talking about a keyboard and mouse here. Having a fingerprint reader built into your keyboard is just so…impressive. Unfortunately, its m
Cons: the only problem is, is that it only works on the ie browser (which is great for buisness).

Propietary hardware is bad
Pros: Very good concept, great one touch features and the fingerprint ID is very easy to set up.
Cons: It only works with Microsoft Internet Explorer. I really like using Mozilla for a variety of reasons and now I find out that the internet login only works with IE. Also does not work with any computer on a domain, that takes me out of the ball game on t

Works Well, Nifty Toy
Pros: It lets you sign on without remembering a password. Works well with IE... which I know I shouldn't use because of all of the exploits... but I do anyway.
Cons: None, really. It took a few minutes to set up, that's it.

Pros: ease of use with the fingerprint reader, i love to just use my finger to log into windows and websites, and the mouse seems nice too but i dont use it.
Cons: The software!!! no 64bit support but yet 64bit has been out for a while.

Summary: Over all works great ive tried fingerprint reader on 32bit system and works fantastic! mouse is sometimes alittle like laggy i dont use it anyway and as far as the keybord itself the only thing i have an issue with is the space bar it needs to be pushed in the center other wise it rubs and makes noise. The main company biometric that makes these readers does have support for 64bit but its very expensive to purchase. as microsoft makers of window os only supports 32bit drivers (digital persona 2.0) not good for people running newer computers with windows xp, vista, or windows 7 64bit versions.
Terrible product; stay away

Summary: This product, while sounding useful, what with its fingerprint reader, is a useless and quickly- deteriorating device. I've had this for about 6 months. In that time, all of my gaming directional keys (4 arrow keys; home, delete, end, page down; and now my WASD keys) are near- dead, and I am only a casual gamer! The fingerprint reader only works with Internet Explorer, the Swiss cheese of secure browsers. A website in Firefox called "Login" will not be detected as a login page. Something is seriously wrong with that. I recommend this disgustingly overpriced keyboard as a solution for about 2 or 3 months... after that, don't expect certain keys to function anymore.
I love the fingerprint reader

Cons: fingerprint reader sometimes fails to identify me, usb sometimes not usable for BIOS config
Not Recommended Due to Security Concerns

Summary: I personally would not recommend this for high security environments. Mild security arenas like at home would be sufficient, but anti-spyware setups should be established at the same time to avoid any security compromises on the PC itself (like keyloggers). The Microsoft software appears to cache web ID/passwords and the like on the hard drive, and any spyware could harvest this information and send it to a designated web site, unknown to the PC users.
Plus, I have read other reviews in which the fingerprint reader can be fooled by a gummy bear lifting the fingerprint from a glass (or other surface) and placing it on the reader. The scanning resolution does not appear to be high if this type of technique can fool the device.
Instead, I recommend using different set of strong passwords depending on the confidential nature of the data being accessed. The user should have a set pattern at each level, easy to remember, but at least 8 characters in length with special characaters embedded as part of the pattern. Keep a list of web sites which have passwords so that the user can keep track of his/her web site setup. Of course, passwords should not be written down and not based on any dictionary-type references.
This is a fantastic device that will make your life easier, and save you a lot of time.

Pros: 1) Easy to use. 2) Well designed keyboard layout. 3) Mouse has 7 buttons! 4) Fingerprint reading functionality saves a lot of time.
Cons: There are no faults with this keyboard, however it would have been nice to see the wireless receiver (for the mouse) built into the keyboard itself.

Summary: This is by far one of the most useful devices that I've encountered. I no longer have to waste time logging into programs, websites, or my computer itself. All with the scan of a fingerprint I have complete access to all 'login' required areas. The fingerprint reader is a time saver and so far neither I or my roommates have been able to fool the device into allowing anyone but me into my login restricted areas. We've done many things to trick it, but nothing has worked as of yet. The keyboard is designed very well and has many customizeable buttons that are actually placed in areas on the keyboard that you'd want them to be placed, particularly the volume control, and media buttons (which are located near the fingerprint reader) which you'll quickly begin using because they're situated in an area that you'd naturally want them to be in (not like other keyboards with the same functions). The included mouse is pretty nice also, with left and right click as well as center scroll, center click, conter vertical and horizontal scroll with left and right center clicks (which I haven't been able to use for anything but scrolling yet but I'm sure they can be assigned to some functions). By far this is the nicest keyboard I've used, and although it retails for $70, I bet you'll be able to find it for less if you look around online. Also, as you scan your fingerprint an oval surrounding the scanner will light up red, which adds a 'secret agent' type aura to the device.
Toy, not for corporate world

Summary: It would be great to be able to setup all accounts on a Win2003 domain to login using a fingerprint. Microsoft's ad for this product leads you to believe you can use this product for that need (not recommended but possible)- but in fact you cannot at all.
