Pros: Labels are nicely printed: lots of options for different sizes and types of tapes.
Cons: The margin defaults waste a LOT of tape - even if set to minimal margins, you'll still waste nearly an inch of tape for each label. That adds up to a lot of wasted tape in a 26' roll!
Menu access is clumsy and confusing. Dymo is a lot easier.

Summary: The appearance of the labels is very nice. You can make some nicely professional looking presentations with this labeler. However, the learning curve for making the menu selection to achieve the desired results is rather steep, and you will inherently burn a lot of tape making mistakes. At anywhere fro $10 to more than $39 for a roll of tape, depending on what kind you want, that can add up fast.
As mentioned above, Brother has chosen to make the default setting for margins a very wasteful amount. I suppose this is just their way of increasing sales? Even after you've managed to dig down through the menus to set the machine to a minimal margin setting, it'll still give you a nearly 1" long "leader" on each tape (helpfully marked with a couple of dots to show you where to trim it!)
Also, when you want to clear the display to type in text for a new label, you have to tell it NOT to clear your formatting settings, or else you'll have to go back through the menus to put it back the way you want it again. Frustrating!
My recommendation? Get one of the Dymo "Labelmaker" series, rather than this blatently "profit generating" machine.
Pros: Good quality labels - peel easily and stick well. Enough flexibility in font choices and label width to tackle most jobs.
Cons: Takes trial and error to use. There is alot of label waste. My cheapo Dymo defaults to cut the label exactly the size of the text. Not so with the P-Touch.

Pros: Does a nice job of printing in multiple sizes, styles and types.
Cons: My biggest complaint so far is that the tape has to be manually pulled out a half inch every time you print, requiring removing the tape cartridge, pulling tape out,or the tape bunches up inside the machine and messes up the tape, a real nuisance.

Summary: My last Brother label printer died after only a year of low usage, never even got through the low capacity cartridge that was included. Bought this one hoping I just got a lemon the first time. If I had known that I might need it to make name tags at a registration, I would have returned it right after I got it.
