Good short run label printer with few problems

Pros: Great color and BW Inkjet with wide range of label sizes
Cons: Wastes labels with each reload,sucks ink like a hoover vacuum

Summary: When we bought this printer we knew it would fit the short run label production we needed. It has out preformed in the ease of use and quality of print.
We also knew that it would use a lot of color ink to satisfy the print output we required. We had no idea that it would empty out more than three times the amount for a traditional inkjet.
To optimize the ink we have chosen to utilize more black and white productions when applicable.

Pros: Short run on demand printer
Cons: Driver is poorly written especially if you're on mac platform
Tec support is barely able to help.
Resolution is WAY OVER RATED. Ink cartridges are expensive and poor quality. Thermal heat printer labels. Too much waste in ink and media. OVER PRICED

Summary: In the past 6 years I have owned 2 LX810 printers. I am on a MAC platform and have had so many problems with this printer I can't begin to tell you here. They advertise this printer as a professional quality printer. However, there is no support for color management so you can achieve on a label what you see on your monitor. So if you want your color labels to be consistent form batch to batch over a period of time you may not be able to get good color. We have had difference, big differences when changing cartridges. For product that go on a store shelf CONSISTENT LABEL COLOR is essential. I took this up with PRIMERA tech support several times and they had nothing to say. I struggled with the first printer until it needed repair and in real pinch to get an important order out we bought a second one just to be able to plug it in and print because everything was set up for the LX810. The new printer was no better than the first and that was after 6 years. They made no attempt to improve the issues which I contacted tech support about. At $2500.00 this printer is a waste of our time and money. You will get bad cartridges that will need to be returned to them and they sell them for $ 50.00. In terms of printer resolution it not even close in quality to my $ 69.00 Canon printer. The Canon is not a label printer granted but the output is so far superior that they have no business charging what they charge as compared to the Canon or even Epsons which I have had several over the years. I write this after having a 2 day period of driver related problems. The people are very nice and they do try but the company is negligent in improving the drivers and paper stock to actually achieve the quality that they boast. Perhaps the fact that I am on Mac platform is part of the problem. They do advertise the LX810 as MAc compatible. That is questionable in view of the many problems I have had which for both problems have been the same. I think the printer could be good but Primera needs to give you color management, better stock to print your labels especially for color. And if repair is needed better turnaround time. In all fairness when it works it is great, but you never know when the finicky driver will upset your production.On a scale of 1 to 10 it gets a 4.
