The good: The Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD offers noticeably faster boot time and better overall performance than regular hard drives at a much lower cost than solid-state drives.
The bad: The Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD's data transfer speed is slow. It comes with just 8GB of flash memory and spins at only 5,400rpm.
The bottom line: If you're looking for SSD-like performance at just a fraction of the cost, the Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD offers some gratification.

DO NOT FIT IN LAPTOP

Pros: Wasn't able to use the Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD 500GB.

Summary: This HDD does not fit in your standard laptop (I have a Dell Latitude E6530). It is much thinner which would require an enclosures or bracket for the Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD. The laptop uses a 9.5 mm and the Seagate Laptop Thin SSHD is about 7 MM. I contact Seagate technical support and sales for assistance obtaining require brackets, or an enclosure for the 5 SSHD which I purchased and received very little support. I was informed that the reason the SSHD is shipped without brackets or enclosures is because Seagate doesn't sell brackets, or enclosures...Just Hard drives. The tech couldn't recommend any resellers. Before you purchase this hard drive please be aware that require brackets, or enclosure to fit into a laptop are very scarce "(If available)." I wasn't able to find any; therefore I returned the SSHD. I tried online and in local computer store and was only able to find the 9.5 mm bracket. Dell like other stores and vendor sell the 9.5 mm brackets. The large computer store in my area advised me that the reason they don't sell this hard drive is because of the limited support, customer complaints, and no bracket or enclosure for the product which they (Seagate) produce.
