Pros: Portability for updating and transferring files that won't fit on a 2 GB flashstick. The 80 GB will actually work quite well on USB 1.1 even though they technically require 2.0. Great concept and product for the price. No more flashsticks for me!
Cons: Absolute requirement of USB 2.0 on larger models (110 GB, 320 GB) can be a problem, as I have heard some 2.0 adapter cards for laptops may not be suitable for external hard drives.

Summary: I believe I have given the Passport 80 GB that I own, the ultimate endurance test. I use it in my taxicab to store MP3s, utilziing my laptop as my own personal radio station. For 3 years, it has been run on a USB 1.1 connection 4-7 days a week, from the time I turn the key to the time I park at the end of the day (typically 9-14 hours), over bumpy city streets. It has also managed to fall a short distance a time or two (Butterfingers!) and survived with no damage.
Doing the math, it has already run over 10,000 hours in what I consider to be severe operating conditions. Other than an occasional update of files, it stays velcro'd to the laptop's docking station in the taxicab 24 hours a day 7 days a week, through cold and heat. The drive itself has never given me a problem. Minor hiccups were shown to be a problem with Windows or the USB connection. I have recently acquired a 110 GB model that I plan to use for movies to provide customer entertainment on long trips.
Overall, great concept, great product. Very durable, considering that I don't believe most hard drives would stand up to this kind of use. I bought another, that says it all! Now for a USB 2.0 adapter so I can use my 110 GB with my older laptop!
Summary: It has pretty good write speeds for a Fat 32, the software will allow you to basically plug it in at any ones pc and work on it as if you were at home even down to receiving emails. however what i would really like to do is synch folders automatically for back up and this it doesnt really do, so i use different spftware for the job. one unlikely benefit however is that it uses the same mini usb jack as most motorola products so i can charge them through the usb ports on my laptop when when i travel using the cable that came with my harddrive.
Description:Pack up your office files and take them home. Carry thousands of songs or pictures. These drives are simple to use, light and easy to carry, and require no power adapter - they are powered directly through the USB cable.
