Adjust Intensity For Better Graphics
by mt_99 on August 19, 2009
Pros: Great print quality, easy set up for wireless (follow the directions), low cost
Cons: None, considering the price point
Summary: I wonder if your reviewer knew about setting the printer to 'graphics' and adjusting the 'intensity' from within the print driver.

It's a bit hard to find this, but it makes all the difference in the world in the quality of printed graphics. By default, this setting seems to be set much too dark, making graphics appear extremely muddy. But by lightening the setting 3-4 increments, the graphics are actually quite good.
I've had this printer only a few days but am extremely impressed with print quality, ease of set up (read the directions), and value.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

No problems, works as good as I need it

Summary: I don't know why anyone can have problems with the set up. I have minimal computer skills and I hate to work on them, but I was able to have my desktop Windows Vista computer and my daughters Apple laptop connected to the wireless printing with in 15 minutes. I just followed the instructions and pictures. I attached the printer to the router, let the computer find it,removed it from the router then I typed in my network key and that was it. So very simple.
I only paid $90.00 for it and I saw it for $149.00 at some stores but today I see it is for sale again so do not pay more than $100.00. I was also able to find the TN-360 high yield toner cartridges for $45.00.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: If you're looking for a cost effective, fast printer for your home or home office, you won't go wrong with this printer. The wireless set up is a snap, as long as you follow the detailed instructions(took me less than 5 min). The printing speed is awesome and the cost of replacement toner cartridges is cheaper than buying inkjet cartridges for an inkjet color printer. I purchased 3 toner cartridges for less than $30 ea. If you're looking for a printer to handle your text only, monochrome document needs, then this is your guy! If you need photo, color or high quality graphics printing done, then look elsewhere!

Summary: This is a very easy printer to set up. I just plugged it into my router, went to settings on both of my macs, selected the printer in the first tab (driver was already on my mac) and set it to default. Wireless setup may be harder, but i am using the network print function using Bonjour. Print quality is average for a laser printer, but i have not messed with the settings. It will not be used for printing pictures, as it is just a B/W printer. But Documents and diagrams look fantastic. Great printer for the price and if you print as little as I do and do not want ink to dry up as it would in a ink jet, this is a very good buy.

Great Value With Great Print Quality
by applefan123 on June 6, 2010

Summary: I have had this printer about 9 months and I have printed over 1300 pages on it. I have had to replace the toner once, as the starter cartridge only lasted 550 pages. Overall, I love this printer. It is compatible with every computer in my house and has never had a paper jam. It is a little loud when printing but it doesn't matter because it prints so fast. It is very efficient and lives up to its expectations on toner use. Overall great buy.

Summary: I go to law school and this printer is great for printing out cases and research papers. However, the software that came with the printer is useless for setting up on the network. I tried several times to set up on the network with the included disk but could not get it to work. I ended up uninstalling the software and created a tcp/ip port and installed manually on each computer to get to work over the network.

Horrible drivers and firmware
by qasdzxc on May 27, 2010
Pros: Printed... for a while
Cons: Doesn't print anymore because the printer bombards itself with worthless notifications of problems I have/had already fixed multiple times. I am never buying a brother product again and no one else should either

Summary: Horrible, horrible programming and setup. I am very experienced with computers and even after reading reviews complaining about the difficulty of the setup and the problems that occur down the road, I still thought I could put my computer skills to good use and fix any problems that may occur. I was completely wrong. One would think the mere act of pulling out the drum unit, replacing the toner or even cleaning the corona wire after a notification that it is dirty would be a simple process, but many times it would take HOURS to get the computer or the printer to realize that the drum unit was clean or that the toner was full. Hours of troubleshooting later I would figure out a way to force the printer through some sort of bypass that I would have to create to make the printer ignore the notifications it was giving itself. It got to the point where I would get extremely angered over a paper jam, because sometimes it would take hours after I had fixed the paper jam for the printer to realize the jam was fixed. This is not a problem with my printer, this is a fundamental and foundational problem with their drivers and firmware installed on the printer and I know that a new printer won't fix any of this, so thank you Brother for taking the 300$ spent on this printer and the toner and drums with it, and days of frustrated attempts to fix this plastic piece of junk!
