Great resolution, FAST, wireless is easy setup

Network and driver setup is a breeze. There's more than one way to do the first time configuration: via a temporary USB or Ethernet cable connection. Then I used the setup tool on 64-bit Windows 7 Home, and it cleverly discovers your network's SSID and wireless password from the setup host computer.
I setup my Ubuntu 64-bit Linux with this printer, just went to Printers, "Add", Network Printer and wait a few seconds and it was discovered on the network. There was no Brother HL-2270DW driver included with my OS. Apparently you can get the correct Linux driver on the Brother site, but Brother does not support 64-bit Linux. Don't even worry about this... just pick any Brother driver which is "close" to 2270DW and it will work. If you want to use Duplex printing, make sure the driver you pick supports that feature.
QUALITY
The print quality is outstanding for 600dpi, and toner coverage is a solid 100%. The toner cartridges seem expensive, but relative to my short lived inkjet printers it is a bargain. 3rd party toner carts do exist, though it looks like you have to fiddle with things to use them (I have not tested 3rd party toner). Did I say this printer was FAST?
Most people won't care about this usage: I used this to print out text, source code, line art and dithered /halftone art. No issues. I used this to print some PCB (printed circuit board) artwork onto manually-fed glossy transfer paper (actually cut out from a magazine), then used a clothes iron to transfer the artwork from the printed page to copper clad protoboard, and then etched the copperboard in acid. The toner survived the "etching" process, and once cleaned off I had a nice metal etched board. I'm stating this because I read at least 1 review that the toner in this printer was not durable enough to act as an acid resist. The toner is great. I'm sure at least one in a two hundred users would be wondering if this is good for PCB artwork.
NOISE
A word of caution, the cooling fan on this printer is a little noisy. When sleeping, the printer is totally silent. After you print a page it takes maybe 5 minutes for the printer to return to sleep.. if I were to try printing something at 3AM I am almost sure that the fan wake someone up, and the 5 minute cool down would seem interminable. I just won't print something that late. :)
Duplex and wireless and good driver support and under $100. It's not color, but color lasers are 400-500% more money. My inkjet printers would constantly and hopelessly clog (even the black ink) so that whenever I needed to print, it was a hassle. So far this printer is nice relief from that stress. This printer meets and exceeds all my expectations so 5 stars it is.

Summary: I just ran out of toner on my HL-2270DW and purchased a compatible replacement from Amazon.com for approximately half of what Brother asks for the exact same thing. When I inserted the replacement cartridge the toner light stayed illuminated indicating it was out. Rechecking the installation repeatedly to no avail, I had to resort to calling Brother.
They went through a bunch of, what sounded to me like, canned responses to my questions. And when I nailed them down and insisted on straight answers, they told me they put a proprietary switch inside their cartridges to prevent any other manufacturer's product from working. This also prevents their own product from being removed and reinserted just in case anyone has any bright ideas about refilling the cartridge.
I've had a Brother MFC-7420 that has served me faithfully for many years, and has yet to see its first Brother toner cartridge. I have never considered purchasing or recommending any printer other than Brother for that very reason. But after hearing this from their own mouths (I called twice and got the same story from different people) I will throw this printer in the trash and never buy anything from Brother again.
It wouldn't be so bad if they told you this up front, before you bought the printer; or if any of the multitudes of "compatible" cartridge vendors told you their products wouldn't work. But then I guess they figure that would cut down on their sales.

The 250 sheet paper tray is much larger than any other printer I've seen in this price bracket. The only shortcoming is that the wireless network setup is not straight forward and can be a pain.

Excellent for my needs

Pros: Fast printing, awesome price
Cons: hard to set up the wifi unless youre going to stick a ethernet cable from your printer to your router

Best printer I've owned by far.

Pros: Excellent text quality. Fast printing. Toner lasts a long time, especially when using toner-save mode. Wireless setup and use is perfect. Quick and easy setup.
Cons: Printing pictures and graphics do not look as good as text, but it still looks more than acceptable.

They didn't look professional like how laser printer documents look. I found this at Fry's Electronics for $80, and by far this is the best printer I've ever owned, by a lot. Its flawless. Good quality construction. Refilling the toner is easy as well, Ive used InkOwl.com for replacement toner and its very inexpensive and it works just like the Canon brand toner. I have absolutely no complaints about this printer.

Annoying fan that runs for up to 15 minutes

Cons: Was not immediately compatible with Mac OS 10.7.4.... needed to download CUPS and then restart computer. More importantly, the fan will run for up to 15 minutes (with a low pitched hum) even after printing just one page... they say "this is normal"
