Fast. Overheats. Slow duplexer.
by johnfin3 on November 14, 2009
Pros: I have had many brother printers. This is the first duplex printer. Had Xerox, HP, Dell and all duplexed pretty well, but slow.
Cons: Overheating and shuts down on large print jobs. Have to power down and let it sit & cool.

Toner cartridge stops working/shows empty when not!
by cybergrace on July 30, 2011
Pros: A fast, sharp-printing machine. Very good, except setting up network is needlessly difficult.
Cons: This is a great printer EXCEPT the toner cartridge sensor is programmed to show "empty" when there is lots left. Worse, the printer will not print without a new cartridge! BAD, IMMORAL DESIGN BROTHER. Shame on you, Brother. You can get around this purpose
Summary: Brother made a design flaw to make more money on ink. You can disable it, but SHAME on Brother!

The most retarded network printer ever!
by JRFrogman on February 26, 2010
Pros: None - because it will not work.
Cons: It only likes one network cable. You can't configure a static ip manually, you need their windoze app.
Summary: This printer would not work with any of our network cables except one. We could not figure out why. All were Cat e, straight through, purchased from different vendors, and ...

Summary: This printer would not work with any of our network cables except one. We could not figure out why. All were Cat e, straight through, purchased from different vendors, and tested good. We had three of these printers and all of them had the same problem. We got them working but they would only work with this one Ethernet cable. We even removed cables from other working equipment and tried them. Nothing worked. We sent those three Brother HL-5370DWs back and canceled the order for another five. It was just ridiculous. I can't imagine why anyone would want this printer but there seems to be lots of glowing reports out there. Go figure.

Don't buy if you ever hope to print an envelope
by Marker20Hampton on August 14, 2009
Pros: It drove me to drink
Cons: I spent more time printing 40 envelopes than I did on the actual payroll. The help interface is lacking a 20 year old HP laserjet 2 prints better. I will never buy another brother product as long as I live.
