Lots of problems with W2K, not at first but over time
Pros: Fast, cheap
Cons: This printer worked great on Win98 for a year. Then we switched to W2K and worked great for a month or so. Then just stopped printing, giving error messages on the computer, regardless of the application from which I was printing. After emailing back

Has worked exactly as it should for past 3 years; no problems

Pros: Works and lasts; no maintenance or even toner replacement yet needed. Perfect for home office use.
Cons: Is larger footprint and external dimensions than competitors.

Summary: Overall, a good, solid product. I bought this laser printer for about $100 three years ago. Have not had any problems. Have used it with Windows 2000 and Windows XP machines. Again, no problems. Still have yet to replace first toner cartridge, even though I use it in my home office as my primary printer. Only complaint is that it has a larger footprint and exterior dimensions than most of its competitors. Also, it cannot be networked and has not worked well for me with attempts to connect it to wireless print servers. But, would recommend it without reservation for someone looking for a basic monotone laser printer that will be problem free.

Fast and Good...but it burps!
Pros: Used it in my office. Gosh! It's fast! Exrremely easy to set up, thanks to the diagrams and annotations. Slightly improved on the paper curling syndrome that plagued the earlier HP laserjets.
Cons: There's a funny burp sound when the printer goes into PowerSave mode. Another thing: the paper always falls off when you print too much, even though there is a small paper extender provided.

Not a bad machine

Summary: It prints fast text but picutures from pdf are a bit slow. At least it is able to process the picture and then print it out in black and white. My color printer also from HP refuse to process the print job and gives me an error. This is one machine that is so reliable. I print more than 150 pages day w/ no problem. It also que print request. You can cancel the print job by hittin the button and doesn't print on the paper...so you can reuse the paper. Auto feed in paper and envelopes. I have tried envelopes w/ sticky and w/ peel off. It also does labels but it make the labels darker and darker each time u use it.

Good quality, poor reliability
by windelbocnet on January 23, 2007
Pros: Great quality on text and light graphics
Cons: tends to cause a lot of bleeding on heavy graphics and photos; EXTREMELY slow at pdf printing

Summary: I have used two of these printers in different offices. Both were extremely slow - nothing like the report in this CNet review - when printing anything other than text. Images and pdf documents print at approximately 1 page per minute. Additionally, dark images do not come out well, with significant bleeding of dark areas over the whole picture. However, this printer works quite well for printing text - handling a heavy load and showing consistently high quality.
