Summary: If you can find them very cheap and they are working this can be a very economical printer to own. I started with one of them five years ago (from a surplus shop dumpster) and now own three. I picked up the recent two at a recycle center for a small donation (~$20) and now have one in my wife's home office and one for spare parts in addition to the one in my home office.
These are very simple printers to maintain and troubleshoot. You can remove most of the major assemblies with one phillips and one flat screwdriver. The only parts that are consumable are a several pickup rollers, transfer roller, and fuser unit.
There is also a toner cartridge that needs to be replaced when you run out of toner. This cartridge is rated for between 6,000 and 10,000 sheets depending on which one you get. I typically replace my cartridge once a year.
