The good: Fast prints; excellent print quality; built-in duplexer; network-ready; separate photoconductor means less waste; expandable on-board memory.
The bad: Text LCD isn't backlit; C530dn model doesn't have expandable paper handling options; color handling could use some minor improvements; lacks straight pass-through printing.
The bottom line: With fast speeds and impressive print quality, the Lexmark C530dn is a great color laser printer for the price. We prefer it over a more expensive color printer from the competition.
The Lexmark C530dn is a fast, high-quality color laser printer that we recommend for any small office or home with high-volume printing needs. For $500, you get a network-ready printer with a built-in duplexer for automatic double-sided printing. If you need increased paper handling options or more toner cartridge choices, check out the C532n ($500, no duplexer) or the slightly more expensive C532dn ($700). Lexmark also has taken laudable steps to improve the eco-friendliness of its laser printers--by reducing power consumption and material waste--which benefits both your pocketbook and the environment, a move we applaud. We're curious to see whether other vendors follow suit. The Lexmark C530dn's print speeds and quality are on par with the more expensive Oki C5500n, which lacks a duplexer, making the C530dn a better buy.

Bad print quality
by PeggyF on August 22, 2007
Pros: At first I loved it, when it prints well it has awesome color.
Cons: The black toner cartridge gets a little used and then it starts printing gray fuzz all over the white background of the paper.

Summary: At first this printer was awesome but when the black toner gets a little low it prints the white background a fuzzy gray. Worked with Lexmark techs for months trying to resolve this. They replaced everything but to no avail. Tried all new toner cartridges, that didn't work. They are taking the printer back and returning money. From what I found out others were having the same issues. I am left with trying to find another fast color printer.

i bought the C530dn after much and thorough research - or so i thought - but it turns out (according to tech support via email) the black function also uses color carts (??) and and burns thru them in a couple of months i might add
then i discovered that they have no phone based customer support - and i mean zero _you email somebody in bombay and they then give you a long list of convoluted procedures that ends up with the print carts all over the floor and a disabled printer - totally evil
i can't understand in the first place why the printer would be using color carts to print black (??) but that's what customer support said - i'm thoroughly disgusted with this printer - although it seems to print ok it's problematic as heck - i would return it if i could and buy an HP5 out of 6 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Only just got this for our small office. Installed straight into the network with no fuss. Added extra memory with no fuss. The colour print is very sharp. All reviews I could find recommended it highly and I would have to agree. It is great for an office which needs to print the odd item in colour, but do it well, without spending a fortune.

Summary: I owned this printer for a few weeks. I was printing brochure pages on glossy paper and the printer turned all of the white areas grey. I tried al of their customer service suggestions none of which helped. Finially, after sending print samples to lexmark they admitted it was a known problem with the printer however only certain people noticed the "greying". They also stated that a diferent printer would be no better because they all all of the C532DN printers had the effect and that some customers simply did not notice it. They did graciously offered to refund me my full puchase price. However it has been 6 months and I have yet to recieve the refund although they have had my printer for several month and I have spent hours waiting on hold... Stay away!!!! Get anything but this printer. Based on Lexmark's customer service I suggest you stay away from Lexmark all together.

Summary: This printer kind of sucks and I'm finally fed up enough to write a review. I am doing LOTS of high quality and high volume printing and have waste immense amounts of paper from this printer. My biggest complaint is that it never stops when it runs out of ink or is just printing jibberish, which it does at random. It will just waste tons of paper with crappy ink quality until the job is done, instead of stopping. Therefore when I need to print 15 copies of a ten page color document, I have to babysit the darn thing while checking every few pages to see if the ink quality is still ok.
Also, the ink is really expensive. I have gone through so many cartridges, its ridiculous.
Third, when I have tried to cancel one job, the printer comes up with 10-50 more jobs out of the blue, and I literally have to sit there and reset the printer each time it beeps and wants to bring one line of jibberish on each page.
Basically this printer was a HUGE disappointment and given the chance, I would never buy this machine again. About the only thing it has going for it is good print quality when all the ink cartridges are full.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Will never buy Lexmark again. I changed from HP because I was conned by the erroneous editorial/magazine reviews and marketing. Looking at overall cost, you are better off buying cheaper. I know from experience that HP is reliable, but may try Samsung once the Lexmark toner is finished.

Crappy Printer

Pros: Duplex, Fast

2. The display screen just went out (printer only 7 months old)
3. Quality never great, but I felt if it was reliable, then it was worth it. Obviously, if they cut corners in one area, then why won't they in others.
4. DO NOT GET THIS PRINTER!
