Strong and stable home-workhorse

Pros: The printing from this printer is quick, quiet, crisp, and clean. The price was right to get a basic home laser printer that does everything a home user requires. I have had this printer now for 3yrs and 2 months. Can you say replace toner cartridge?
Cons: The replacement cartridge well exceeds the original purchase price. So I don't think I will go OEM as they are running around $129+ There seem to be many competitors for the replacement cartridge and it is definite - they will get my business.

Summary: I have never had an issue of any kind with this printer. No funny smells or sounds. Not one paper jam in 3 years. It is rock solid and availalbe for every print job that has been sent to it. True as a home device it doesn't get heavy use. But with a pair of students at home, high school and college, and a small home based business, it does get steady daily use. I would not recommend it for higher volume operations of say 2,500 pages or more a month. It likely would handle that initially but do not know how long it would run at that level. For the level of use we put it through at home, it is more than enough for us! We are very satisfied with this model printer.

WARNING: awful electrical smell each time you print

Summary: The electrical smell really worries me as a health hazard. This printer gives off such a strong, acrid electrical smell every time it prints and even just when it's turned on. I've never encountered such a smell before. I tried a work-around by queuing up printing jobs and trying to just print and turn off, but now it seems to get ERROR messages on almost every printing. I've only had this printer for 3 weeks. When it works, I like its speed and duplexing, but the electrical smell really worries me as a health hazard.
