Very Nice Display
by joemajestic on September 22, 2011
Pros: Accurate colors and very good contrast. Does work with Windows 7 installed under Boot Camp in spite of what Eric Franklin originally stated in his review (he later recanted that statement.)
Cons: Over-priced by about $200. Screen reflections could be a problem in some rooms.
Summary: I was happy to see that Eric Franklin updated his original comments about the Display not being compatible with Windows running under Boot Camp. If you downloaded the latest updates ...
Summary: I was happy to see that Eric Franklin updated his original comments about the Display not being compatible with Windows running under Boot Camp. If you downloaded the latest updates from Apple, you will be able to use this monitor when booted into Windows. I tested it with both Windows 7 under Boot Camp and from the Mac world using Fusion. It works just fine so those of you that posted negative reviews based on Eric Franklin's original review, you should recant those remarks since you didn't actually test the Display. The 1 star ratings are quite unfair.

Meets the specifications, integration NOT thought out
by dfwapple on April 3, 2012
Pros: Screen color accuracy and aesthetics are top of the line and consistent with Apple products
Cons: Networking is problematic with both MacBook Pro and MacBook Air products where both built in WiFi and wired connection tends to disconnect randomly forcing a reboot of the system. Additionally, the large display is attached to a fixed height stand.
Summary: Initial impressions of the display are very positive as you won't find that many competitors living up to the high specification levels in such a nice form factor. Yet ...
Summary: Initial impressions of the display are very positive as you won't find that many competitors living up to the high specification levels in such a nice form factor. Yet disappointment soon sets in when struggling to have basic integration functionality work with your Thunderbolt capable system. At the premium price one would think you would get a premium and solid product. Cross-check other sources before considering a purchase.

Amazing quality display that completes my Macbook Air.
by petermaastricht on October 11, 2011
Pros: Great extension to my macbook air with it very spacious display and HD Camera, USB connectors, wired internet and charging cable.
Cons: It could use a few more USB ports, three is not so many.

Summary: It is an amazing clear and contrast-rich screen. The built-in sound is great and so is the HD camera. I use it to connect my MacBook Air and that works flawlessly. I can either use the MBA opened so the screen and keyboard with trackpad can be used on the MBA or I can hook up my bluetooth keyboard and trackpad and close the MBA. I prefer to do the latter because I don't really need the second screen of the MBA because this 27 inch screen already offers so much desktop space. It comes in really handy when you have to switch windows a lot, you can leave many applications open and copy and paste from one into the other. What is also neat is that it simultaneously charges the MBA so you don't have to clutter your desktop with extra cables. I have hooked up my scanner, printer and hard drive to the display as well as the internet cable. Too bad it only has three USB ports, I wish there were a couple more of those.

A very good machine
by bruceswick on September 30, 2011
Pros: Great picture and improved sound over my older 27 inch IMac.
Cons: Contrary to your review, thie Thunderbolt Cable is not included-it is an option. I would have preferred another FireWire outlet. One for my external hard drive and another for my video camera. Also, I have nothing to plug the Thunderbolt cable into.

Love this monitor!!
by drclifl1939 on September 23, 2011
Pros: Beautiful screen, great color...and a lot of real estate to place my work in.
Cons: Too expensive to get a couple more for the other machines in the house. At least for now.
Summary: If you see it, you will buy it! Or if you don't ,you'll wish you did.

Absolutely MAGNIFICENT Display
by MacFanInChicago on September 23, 2011
Pros: This display will knock your socks off. The colors, the contrast and the crisp graphics are all first class. The Firewire and Thunderbolt connections allow me to connect my external storage easily - and ethernet is also very handy. You'll LOVE this displa
Cons: I'd like to have different stand options - or allow third party options.
Summary: Apple's new Thunderbolt Display is for people who want the best. At $999, it's an easy decision.

Great display, but...
by m4ch4x0r on September 22, 2011
Pros: Bright, crisp graphics, $100 less expensive than a comparable (but somehow lacking) 27" Dell Ultrasharp, 2560x1440 resolution (something that the majority of 27 and 28 inch screens costing about half as much lack), IPS panel, and fun ports on the back (wh
Cons: Thunderbolt-enabled Mac is required to use this screen (for now...), no anti-glare option, could line up better with the 27" iMac.

Summary: I bought one of these to go with my 27" iMac (core i5-2500, Radeon 6970 graphics) so I'd have more working room in Photoshop. It's been working out great for me in several respects, most notably the fact that I've been able to double my workspace. As far as overall performance goes, it works well enough - even compared to an old Dell P991 I kept around for gaming, there is no noticeable ghosting while playing a title with dark visuals (Portal 2, for instance).
I did look at this display next to the Dell Ultrasharp 27" at my local Microcenter before purchasing (when you know the salespeople, they're usually willing to do stuff for you like this). The color quality was dead even between the two displays in my eyes. While I wouldn't have minded an HDMI connection that the Dell offered, the overall aesthetic and the price being $100 less is what compelled the purchase of the Apple display.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some more Portal to beat. -
With a new Macbook Air I was considering this display
by craig1211 on September 22, 2011
Pros: Good looking monitor, No Parallels Windows 7? It's a video screen for crying out loud! Bad move!
Cons: I run Windows 7 with with Parallels on the Macbook Air 2011. Not accepting Windows on this monitor killed it for me. So I will buy a 27" HD monitor elsewhere. Not a good move Apple!
Summary: I can't give something I can never use with something it was intended to be used for more than one star. Did that make sense? Neither does the product!...

WoW!!! First, I bought this monitor and used it for 17 days before returning it to Best Buy! (I'm a Premier member and you get 45 days to return a product with that membership!) I had not yet loaded the latest Parallels when I wrote my review! Erics comments took me to the tipping point! Sorry! But I bought the monitor from Best Buy and I used it extensively beforehand and although it is another beautiful piece of work it could have done a lot more for a $1,000.00 27" monitor - A BASE mounted array of connections would have been a much cleaner design and the 3 USB ports were not enough for my uses. At $599.00 this unit would have been a 4.5 star for me. I love Apple and the Air gives me something no one else has so I will pay a premium! $1000.00 for a 27" high end monitor and a few ports is crazy expensive. Don't rip me up, it's just my opinion. Same reason I use a Sammy Charge 4G Hotspot, Voice GPS, Voice text and email. If iPhone 5 ever comes out and it ROCKS I will buy that as well!
