  A nice monitor for 2D/3D games on the xbox360

  Pros: -Price
  -IPS panel
  -3 years warranty
  -2x HDMI ports
  -Built in stereo
  -Flexibility

  Cons: -Initial settings are over pumped
  -No way to adjust volume from the monitor
  -Personal experience: This monitor (which Asus is going to replace) came with significant and higly noticeable backlight bleeding on the bottom left corner.

  Summary: This is my first 3d and IPS monitor, and I had it for 5 days now, I use it mostly for gaming with my xbox 360 and I previously used an lcd TV.
  It isn't easy to find an IPS monitor at this price with so many features: 2x HDMI ports and Built in stereo are great as you can easily set any device you want (althoug the monitor itself doesn't seem to have any kind of volume regulation).
  Anyway I'll talk for what I know best = gaming. I'm no technician, but I've been playing any kind of online game on the 360 for 6 years, so I know what I'm talking about. The first thing you notice is that you can see many shades of colors you could hardly notice before, the blacks are really dark, and the overall picture quality is quite stunning. For what it might interest you it's present such a thing called "ghosting", but to me is worthless to even worry about as it won't affect your gaming experience in any way, even when playing FPS, and you have to posses a super human/machine sight to even notice it, so gosting = forget about it, really.
  
  The monitor is very easy to set with the 360, as all the necessary options set automatically, when you start a game in 3d mode it's often in a mode called "side-by-side", and on 3d Tv's you'll have to go in the option menu and set this mode to see the game in 3d. Also some newer games auto set everything as you start the 3d mode (ex: Batman AC). Just remember that you'll need an 1.4 HDMI cable, which is the newest standard and it's high speed which is required for optimal 3D.
  When setting the 3D mode one of the most important factor I've noticed for an optimal picture quality is the monitor position, and since it's very flexible this is another point at his favor. I've noticed the best picture quality for me was with the eyes centered on the monitor at the highest vertical angle.
  
  Talking about games in 3D I've tried: Crysis 2, COD Black Ops , Batman Arkham City and Gears Of war 3.
  - Crysis 3D wasn't anything exceptional, COD on the other hand was much better with a much more intriguing sense of depth, both were in side by side mode.
  - Batman AC requires a special mention, as it is very easy to set on 3D (you just set the 3d option in the game's menu and it comunicates the monitor what to do)and it was really great. The picture quality is absolutely identical at the normal 1080p mode and the whole 3D experience just feels right. Also I noticed a much larger viewing angle compared to other games, and all te shapes were always as sharp as the could have been. This was the best Overall 3D game for me.
  - Gears Of war 3 was also in side by side mode, and amongst all is the one wich had the deepest 3D, and it really impressed me. You can really see through objects and judge the disance from one another, the only problem is that, because of the nature of passive 3D technology and the size of the screen, the resolution in this particular game is reduced quite significantly, and you can't see sharp objects without a distortion effect. Still, great 3D effect.
  
  For this I would say that the 3D experience is pretty much dictated by the content, and on the asus VG23AH it impressed me (again, this is my first 3D monitor).
  Other games I played wich were not in 3D (ex Battlefield 3) compensated with stunning picture quality. And although it's stunning, the monitor initial setting's colors may have been over made, but the cinematic effect is still great.
  
  One of the things I miss from having a TV is the remote control, as it was really much more comfortable to switch ports and adjusting audio without leaning towards the screen every time.
  
  Also I watched some movies and still, great picture quality. I also tested the 2D>3D convertion on an episode of Lost, and although it wasn't great, it was "interesting" (notice that 2D>3D convertion isn't something you are really looking forward to).
  
  Anyway it's a very nice monitor for Gaming, comes at a good price, and I have no problems recomending it over the LCD many people still have. If you already have an LCD/LED tv hower , and you want to switch only for the 3D and the IPS panel, you might want to think twice. As I said this monitor came with a high backlight bleeding problem which I noticed on the first day and I immediately contacted Asus for a replacement which I'm going to receive, so you might want to check it out. I just hope the replacement won't have the same problem.

  Great 3D monitor for games and movies

  Pros: Solid 2D monitor with an excellent entry level 3D capability.
  Great ability to adjust the monitor's position
  Can act as 3D TV for bluray/ps3/etc (haven't tried Direct TV)

  Cons: Lack of instruction on 3D middleware (iz3d or tridef) to get 3D games working
  Inclusion of a 2D to 3D button on the front (why do they have this feature???)
  Incomplete (bad) review by CNET will prevent this monitor from selling well

  Summary: I believe the CNET reviewer utilized the "auto-magic" 2D to 3D conversion thats built into the monitor as he did not mention which 3rd party driver he utilized (i.e: iz3D or tridef - recommend by AMD for my HD7870). Just install one of these drivers and the montior's 3D looks great. I tried it with Diablo 3, and the only complaint is that the 2D overlays don't get converted by tridef. This makes them look slightly jagged, but the 3D parts looks awesome. Same with Skyrim.
  
  Playing 3D movies with PowerDVD 12 was a blast on this monitor as well. Picture quality looked great with lion king and tangled (don't judge the kiddo loves those movies)
  
  I received this monitor as a gift on Fathers Day. As a techy guy, this review would have led me to not purchase this monitor. I'm glad my wife surprised me. If I was ASUS, I would be on the phone with CNET asking for a redaction. CNET's is the only review that has made its way onto the internet and it puts the words "3D fail" in every search result - which is a shame

  Review fails at 3d in front of our eyes...

  Pros: IPS panel -> good viewing angles, great colors
  Good 3d

From the video it's pretty obvious that he was looking at a wrong angle when testing 3d, that's why the image fell apart (otherwise there is no crosstalk/ghosting with passive 3d technology). Had he tilted a bit, the 3d would have been just fine (like on mine). And now the whole internet echoes that ASUS VG23AH has bad 3d, just because this guy made such a lame, ignorant review.
  
  Can you imagine a company like ASUS coming out with a FirstInTheWorld product (first IPS panel monitor with passive 3d ever) that obviously fails at its main marketing factor (3d)? How can someone make such a strong statement ("it fails at 3d") without even the slightest doubt that he did something wrong? This review reminds me of those guys on Amazon who rate a product with 1 star, just because theirs got crashed during delivery or they don't know how to use it...
  
  Bottomline: go and see the product for yourself (and search for the right vertical viewing angle when testing 3d with any monitor/TV that's built with passive 3d technology!)

  After a lot of research. I kept coming back to this.

  Pros: Easy setup
  Auto checks connector type
  Preset modes for different modes for applications/conditions
  3 year warranty (I also bought the exchange option at Fry's)
  Came with 3d glasses (Both reg. and clip on)
  Has holes to install on a monitor swing arm.

  Cons: Stand jiggles a little... But not enough to get upset over

  I thought the menu system is ok, once you know how to use it. Yes there is no "enter button" but it's not a big deal. How many times to you use the menu keys anyhow?
  
  One of the things that really attracted me to this monitor was the ability to take the stand off and attach it to a swing arm. I really wanted my desk space... The stand that came with it is pretty good. Never once was I afraid of it falling over.
  So far, I've played the following:
  ARMA 2
  
  I would recommend this to anyone looking for a 23 inch (With IPS) class monitor without going over 300.00
  
  After making fun of my research... My wife wants one to.
  
  One last thing. I bought it at fry's. if you don't see it ask for it. They don't keep all the monitors out on the floor.
