The good: The Dell UltraSharp U2410 has a plethora of connection options and ergonomic features.
The bad: The Dell UltraSharp U2410 has a slightly narrow viewing angle when compared with other IPS and VA monitors. It also has a slight pink tint and its RGB presets produce dithering when viewing dark gray colors.

Do Not Buy This Monitor Yet

Pros: Major Dithering Issues, Major Tinting Issues

Summary: Do not buy this monitor yet until they fix some problems. The sRGB and Adobe RGB presets have dithering issues (google black level testing and you should see the dithering problem when switching in between presets, also google dithering and u2410). It also has pink/green tinting issues. You can test this by putting up an all gray image and the tinting problem is easily discernible. You can google the tinting issue too.
My monitor has both of these problems. This is a professional level monitor that suffers from low class monitor issues.
Good notes are that the touch buttons on the side are very cool along with the stand.
I highly recommend you refrain from purchasing this up until Dell responds to these issues. I got screwed and got the first version, learn from me and wait for at least the second revision.
Btw, I got my monitor just recently (12-12-2010) and it was manufactured in Nov 2009 in Mexico.12 out of 12 users found this user opinion helpful.

Fantastic IPS 24" panel for the cost!
by canuckchris on November 16, 2009
Pros: Color reproduction on this monitor is excellent. Viewing angles also excellent. I don't know what the reviewer is complaining about in terms of viewing angles, they are fine.
Neither of the U2410s I received had any tint issues.Cons: The monitor I have is a replacement, it's predecessor had a pixel issue. Dell's customer service was exceptional however, and hassle free, so I don't really consider it a 'con' but thought I would mention it.
Summary: So, is this monitor 'perfect'? Such a statement is ridiculous. Is there a perfect CCFL backlit 24" IPS monitor? Probably not. You could get close with an Eizo, LaCie or ...
Summary: So, is this monitor 'perfect'? Such a statement is ridiculous. Is there a perfect CCFL backlit 24" IPS monitor? Probably not. You could get close with an Eizo, LaCie or such, but the cost will run well over $1000. You can get a U2410 for $500 or less if you watch for sales. So are the very minor imperfections - which you may not even notice, such as the dithering in RGB modes - worth spending double? I would say no.
Update - Now that I have had this monitor longer, I am considering returning it. The dithering IS noticeable in some applications. Comparing this monitor to the Viewsonic VX2025wm it is replacing, the graininess of the anti-glare coating is far more pronounced.
Bottom line is that every monitor will have its flaws when you look very closely. Any review on this site will pull up monitors with cons. None are 'perfect'. The pursuit of such should be left to Lexus, we'll check in on them in a decade or so and see if they're any closer. The real issue is - will those cons hamper my experience? I am running the monitor in Adobe RGB mode and I have yet to notice the dithering in any application - whether desktop or game. I have no tint issues and I am guessing many others do not as well. This review states that the monitor has a 'pink tint issue'. Perhaps a more factually correct statement would be 'some monitor users have reported a pink/green tint issue' as I am guessing there are many - like myself - with no tint issues whatsoever.
For the money, this monitor is likely the best in its class. The picture quality is fantastic! Just thought I would shed some perspective on this review as I feel it is a tad unbalanced.
Updated on Nov 18, 2009
Dell is apparently writing a firmware update for the dithering, but you must send in your monitor to Dell to get it flashed (updated). This means you do not get your own monitor back, you get a refurbished one.
For a monitor of this quality and price range, it seems Dell has indeed dropped the ball on this one. I'm not sure how the dithering got past quality checks for release. If you have a tint-free monitor as I do, you will risk getting one with tint issues when you submit it for a firmware update. Dell is NOT addressing the green/pink tint issue at this time.
If I could change the five stars to three in this review, I would.7 out of 7 users found this user opinion helpful.

Color issues. I would not purchase
by rcwis02 on August 18, 2010
Pros: Large, colorful (haha). Excellent controls
Cons: On a white background, the color is green/blue on the left side of the monitor and pinkish on the right side (split down the center). If you do any photo or video editing at all, this is a no go.
Summary: I would not purchase this monitor. Some batches may be good, but I got a bad one. At this price level, an LCD monitor should be near perfect. I heard ...
Summary: I would not purchase this monitor. Some batches may be good, but I got a bad one. At this price level, an LCD monitor should be near perfect. I heard about this problem prior to purchase, but the reviews were 7 months old. You'd think they'd have fixed the problem by now. Nope. Dell technical support has long wait times and the technicians will do everything they can to avoid having you return the monitor.

This monitor has highly noticeable banding issues. I received four (4, 1 original, 3 replacements) and all had the same problem. Go to Dell's forum for further info:

Could be a great monitor with better quality control.

Summary: Purchased this monitor about 2 months ago - have had 2 replacements shipped making a total of 3 that I have seen. All were revision A02 manufactured Oct 2010 in Mexico. The first had the much talked about green left pink / right tint issue. I tried to talk myself into just getting used to it - but decided that I couldn't. I calibrate my monitors and use them for photo editing so it wasn't much good for that, and even for general windows use I found it very irritating. The second monitor did not have the color problem - I was really pleased. Sadly, after about a day, it started cycling on and off every few seconds when in power save mode. Called customer support hoping they might have a way to get into the firmware and adjust the sensitivity, or ?.. - I really didn't want to go through the replacement monitor process again as I was concerned I would get another green/pink one. I did agree to have them send another monitor - the tint issue was glaringly worse than the first one. I returned monitor 3 and have kept the second one with the defective power save mode. I am trying to learn to turn off the monitor when I leave the computer (it's been about 15 years since I had a monitor that could not automatically be shut down by the computer). Otherwise the monitor does look good and has some nice features. Dell's customer service was good, but I can't recommend buying one of these unless you are prepared to deal with the hassle, or like to gamble.

1 Word - Anti Glare Coating = Terrible

Summary: I just received this monitor last week March 2012...I use my computer for graphic/web work and my image reproduction has to look flawless on screen. I bought this monitor because I use a Dell 2408 at work and it great. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for my Dell U2410, first off the start the colors were way off and had to get a collaboration software to correct color which was decent but very poor when reproducing dark grey/black colors as well as reds being too bright almost florescent. I was able to deal with these draw backs but after a few hours I noticed a major flaw when looking at white or light backgrounds which looked very fuzzy or grainy as if a noise filter was added to light colors. After much research I've read that many people also have seen this issue and is do to the Anti Glare Coating that Dell uses on there panels.
After trying to adjust brightness or contrast to try to reduce this grainy effect it was useless. I will be sending the monitor back for a refund this week. As a result I would say that that makes this monitor pretty much useless for the graphic or photo industry. Its quite dissappointing that for the money you pay for this monitor the white/light image quality is terrible do to this AG coating. My regular TN samsung display has better image reproduction then this and it also has a AG coating but I guess its not as thick, to bad that its not an IPS monitor though.
Some specs on the monitor its A07 made in Mexico.
I would say avoid if you are a Designer or Photographer.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great 24" for Lightroom 3
Pros: Ultra sharp picture, very fast setup, excellent I/O features for the price
Cons: Wish the monitor would automatically rotate the display settings on my video card when the monitor is physically rotated.
Summary: I would recommend this monitor to any photographer who shoots RAW and needs a precice monitor at a resonable price.

Don't buy - color issues
by kiev71 on November 12, 2010
Pros: Good reputation. Lot's of bells and whistles. Ergonomic design, sturdy.
Cons: Severe color issues - see bottom line.

Summary: I have the older version (5+years) of this monitor that is an excellent quality that I use at work. I bought another one for home just a few weeks ago hoping it would be the same. As some people already pointed out - there is no solid color on this monitor - turn your background white, or gray and you will see that there is a slight gradient from green/blue to orange running left to right. Shame on you DELL for shipping this product as if you don't know the issue exists - should not your QA notice something that obvious? I am returning mine.
Don't buy now (11/2010) and wait until reviews about bad color drop or DELL informs on it's site that "mistakes have been made". I don't think I'd buy another dell monitor - seems they went too far on the road of cost cutting.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Love this monitor for my iMac
by rfendelman on February 5, 2011

Summary: I've researched getting a monitor for a two monitor setup for my iMac for months. I read every review, went to Best Buy ten times to look at monitors and LED/LCD tv's. What will connect to my iMac mini-DVI port? Forget LED. The IPS, which is what Apple uses, is excellent. I bought the Apple mini-DVI-D to DVD-D connector for $19.95. I had my fingers crossed. I just plugged in the Monitor and turned on my computer and....everything worked perfectly. The only thing I did was to turn down the brightness a little because it is a very bright screen. With FCP, I enlarged the canvas window to fill the Dell screen to see what would happen. When I play my video in the timeline, I can now really see what my video will look like on my clients big screen. It's amazing. Yes, I recommend this monitor highly. My only regret is that I couldn't afford the U2711. But, this size matches my 24" iMac and it's a huge help.

Great contrast, great for text and images.
by matobinder on August 31, 2010
Pros: Great price for an IPS display, I've had it for almost a year now. I do a lot of terminal based text editing on Linux, contrast and all is better than my old high end CRT.
Cons: Power button, its placement is in the corner, i.e it IS the corner. Its really easy to bump and turn off the display. The extra inputs are nice, but Dell messed this one up, it is not a quick button press to switch between display inputs
Summary: Great display, great price. However, I couldn't use this at work. At work, my flat screen displays(Dell 2001FPs and 2007FPs) are shared between two different computers, one using ...
Summary: Great display, great price. However, I couldn't use this at work. At work, my flat screen displays(Dell 2001FPs and 2007FPs) are shared between two different computers, one using VGA, one using DVI. I KVM the keyboard and mouse. Those Dell displays all make it simple to switch inputs, a one button press to switch between all the input sources. With this one, you need to go through a little menu, the touch sensitive buttons to do this are a pain. Switching between inputs quickly is not an option.
