  Picture quality depends on cables

  Pros: I bought this HDTV/Monitor because I wanted something that could act just as much as a HDTV as it could a monitor. The picture quality is great under both circumstances as long as you have the right cable and right picture setting.

  Cons: As mentioned in an earlier post, output from a computer via HDMI results in terrible quality for text (use DVI-D instead). Also, I had read that the stem from the monitor stand cannot be removed once installed... this appears to be true.

  Summary: When plugged into Netfilx Roku via HDMI - The best resolution of movies streamed from Netflix is 720p, which (I believe) is equivalent to most HD channels through cable/satellite. The picture quality was excellent using the movie setting for the HDMI input.
  
  When plugged into MacBook via HDMI (1920x1080) - My wife and I watched some TV shows streaming from ABC's website. Even though the video stream wasn't that great of quality, the picture still looked pretty good (for the most part) when the video was maximized to fill the screen. As mentioned before, the text quality was pretty bad when using the HDMI connection. But this problem was completely solved when I switched to a DVI-D cable.
  
  When plugged into MacBook via DVI-D (1920x1080) - I have been looking at all the desktop background images that come with the MacBook, and these pictures look great on this monitor. They look much, much better than when I was looking at them through HDMI with the same resolution. The text is also much, much better quality when hooked up in this configuration. If the text situation had not improve, I would have immediately taken this device back!
  
  It is also important to note that there are several different picture settings when this HDTV/Monitor is plugged into a device. There is a setting for movies, a setting for playing video games, a setting for viewing mostly text, a setting for viewing mostly websites, and these settings can be customized to fit the need of most users (I would assume).
  
  By day I am either programming or writing documents/emails using text-based applications. By night I either watching movies or TV shows streamed over the internet. With this HDTV/Monitor I can do both, and the picture quality is great! Very good quality/functionality for ~$400 (from Costco).

  At long last, I found someone with the same problem AND a solution to the problem associated with the HDMI interface between a PC/MAC and the P2770HD. With the PC/MAC plugged into the P2770HD via HDMI, use the remote to select the following:
  
  - Hit "Source" button on remote
  - Arrow up/down to "HDMI' on the list, hit "Tools" button on the remote
  - Arrow up/down to "Edit Name" on the next list, hit "Enter" button on the remote
  - Arrow up/down to "HDMI" on the next list, hit "Enter" button on the remote
  - Arrow up/down to "DVI PC" or "PC" on the next list, hit "Enter" button on the remote (Monitor should automatically adjust picture so that text does not look terrible)
  - Hit "Exit" button on remote and WALA!

  One of the things I forgot to mention, there are 3 different "Picture Mode" settings with the HDMI interface: 1) Movie (for viewing under low lighting), 2) Standard (for viewing under standard lighting), and 3) Dynamic (for viewing under bright lighting). Under "Dynamic" the whites are very bright and text viewing is very easy on the eyes, but this setting should be adjusted to suit the needs of each individual / environment.
  
  Also if you use the HDMI port for more than 2 different devices, remember to follow the instructions in the first update... except choose the "Game" or "Blu-Ray" or "DVD" option instead of the "DVI PC" or "PC" option in the final list. That way the P2770HD can adjust the screen image for the right input source.

  Pros: picture, inputs, look, functionality, and everything else.

  Cons: speakers are a little weedy but with desktop speakers in there place this is no problem. 2 hdmi inputs would have been a bonus.

  Summary: really great picture when set up using DVI connections and haven't expirienced any problems yet with this screen. the cnet review doesn't tell of any real ajustable aspects yet there is a base with rolling wheels which alows easy swivle, also a really great gaming screen as well as web use and text. havent noticed a green tint in movies as i just play movies using my ps3 and they look great without changing settings from gaming to movie settings. if your thinking about buying this screen stop thinking and just buy it, great for everything. great resolution; dont care what others say, fantastic for gaming, movies and regular computer use and responce rate is great (the difference between 5ms and 2ms is very small and wont be noticed unless you're incredibly picky or pay very close attention to these sorts of things). has a great remote and looks spectacular.

  Pros: -The main thing that matters, Picture quality, is great.
  -It's big
  -It's relatively cheap ( I got mine for $260 one day when I saw it on shopper.cnet.com/deals)

  Cons: -I Had to do some serious picture tweaking. When I say serious, I mean about 30 minutes of googling and playing with settings.
  
  -Sound quality is poor (who expected it not to be poor)

  Summary: There is nothing wrong with this monitor at all, I think the user ratings and cnet ratings are off a bit. I thought the menu system was incredibly extensive, it had lots of picture tweaks, almost as much as my Samsung UN55C8000 TV. I don't notice any greenish tint at all after tweaking the settings to a recommended setting I found from googling. At $260 I don't think there is a better 27" option at all.

  Summary: Don't mean to insult the reviewer,but I really don't know what monitor he was looking at.This monitor sucks for pretty much any games with fast motion,plus the colors aren't quite right no matter how much you tinker with the settings.Small text is terrible and pretty much can't be corrected,as it shows up blurry.
  
  I have an Acer X233h monitor and was looking to upgrade in size so that I could double my gaming monitor as a larger sized TV for the bedroom.To be quite honest,the only thing that the Samsung has over the Acer is size,a digital tuner,and a remote.
  
  There is some noticeable ghosting in this monitor that there is absolutely no way that I could recommend anyone getting it for anything outside of basic PC use.Ghosting is most noticeable when watching darkly lit screen images while in a dark room.
  
  I'm taking it back soon to get a monitor of the same size with better contrast ratio(Samsung has a 50000:1 but I've seen others of the same size with 100000:1)and a better response time(Samsung has 5ms).
  
  I would've rated this monitor higher if the issue with ghosting wasn't there,even though the contrast and brightness aren't really up to snuff.Alas,I can't give this monitor over 2.5 stars

  Useless for PC or Laptop.

  Pros: None. Really, for a pc or laptop, absolutely none.

  Cons: 16:9 ratio for a pc or laptop means the 27" screen is a waste of aobut 6" all around. What's the point of a big screen if it you can't use it? Oh, and set up with my Toshiba laptop? Pain in the *ss. Get ready for a help-desk call!

  Summary: When I used an HDMI cable and tried to use the set as a computer monitor the text was just unacceptable. When I plugged this in via VGA cable the text became very sharp. I don't have a DVI cable but since HDMI is supposed to be identical to DVi but with sound, I am puzzled why some people reported better result using DVI instead of HDMI. My unsupported theory is that since the VGA output from my graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 5550) is an analog signal the digital to analog converter on myh card is superior to the D to A converter in the monitor.
  I would appreciate any feedback about my theory. I am happy with the VGA connection. Can anyone say with authority that using a DVI cable would give superior results compared to my VGA connection?

  Excellent Hybrid, Great for a TV; Very Good for Monitor

  Pros: Over HDMI, seems to display 1080/24p properly...but I wish an EXPERT would address that in a review. For the price, cheaper than ordinary TV's. The OSD is easy to navigate. It can easily be used as a bedroom TV/monitor because of dual functionality.

  Summary: I think this is an excellent product, especially in the small world of specially designed TV/monitor hybrids. As most people know, you can virtually use any TV as a monitor. But, when a product is designed for s specific task, it usually does a better job, as does this one. I am no expert; I have heard that most 60hz displays cannnot properly handle 1080/24p, but it seems as if this one does. If you compare this to regular TV's I believe that this is a better deal than most, for most 27 inchers cost over 400. The abilty to connect cable or an antenna to the set is such a sweet move that the only one HDMI connnection can almost be overlooked. Overall, I think this is an excellent product.
