- Bottom Line:
- The 22-inch ViewSonic VX2255wmb features a wide-screen display framed by a consumer-friendly, piano-black bezel, but it lacks the extra video ports consumers can rightfully expect to find on an LCD these days. Its image quality is excellent, however, and it boasts a built-in Webcam and microphone.

The good: Excellent image quality; integrated Webcam and microphone; headphone jack; base swivels 360 degrees.
The bad: Only DVI and VGA video inputs; no downstream USB ports; no height adjustment or pivot; base could be sturdier; glossy bezel prone to smudges and glare; brutally bad speakers.
The bottom line: The 22-inch ViewSonic VX2255wmb features a wide-screen display framed by a consumer-friendly, piano-black bezel, but it lacks the extra video ports consumers can rightfully expect to find on an LCD these days. Its image quality is excellent, however, and it boasts a built-in Webcam and microphone.

Summary: I just bought for $300 at Costco, upgrading from a flat 22" NEC FP1350 CRT: It was hard to believe it actually has a better picture than the NEC & a lot more space on screen & off (I actually have room on my desk now) Excellent for CAD applications & watching movies too. No complaints here.

The monitor took a little time to get looking its best, for some reason when I initially set up the monitor I was getting blurry text. Over a couple days I adjusted various setting with my video cards software now the monitor looks perfect, crystal clear and sharp!
The on screen display is easy to use and understand. Built in web cam might come in handy and appears to work quite well, I would rather have a couple USB ports over the web cam. Very adjustable with swivel, tilt and height adjustments. Awesome looking gloss black finish to the entire monitor is hard to beat and this is one of Viewsonics best looking monitors! The built in speakers work but are almost worthless, I didn't buy it for the speakers.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

You cannot find a better picture quality
by dhirajsrathi on December 5, 2008
Pros: Excellent Application that comes with the camera, 1.3 MP is best in the class, picture quality is best in the class, have'nt seen any backlight bleeding yet, built in mic, speakers, headset, doesnt get any better than this
Cons: cannot keep fingerprint/ wipe marks off the body, needs sturdier base (mabye metalic)
Summary: Very upscale display at a not to bad price, people are selling at for various prices, but 22" is the way to go, 19 is almost obsolete now. Watch TV ...

Summary: DONT LISTEN TO CNET'S REVIEW. first of all you can adjust the hight on the monitor. There is a locking pin on the back you have to take out. I dont know why they say you cant. How long did they use this monitor at all. Did they do there review in 2 seconds. Shows you what kind of people do there reviews.
I have had this monitor for 6 months without any dead pixels and it is a great gaming monitor, and the mic works great in games. The webcam is is great for taking pics and videos. the monitor swivels left and right.
Definitly worth the money for what you get. -
Beautiful, flexible, incomplete Mac support

Swivel is nice and height adjust seems very rare these days. -
great, bright, beautiful picture
by caffein8d on October 15, 2007
Pros: cheap (@costco), and a great picture. Looks good on the desk. Builtin webcam is decent
Cons: only 720P HD, but I mostly watch HD on a big screen tv anyway
Summary: Who needs s-video? Component would be nice, but not a big deal to me.

Summary: While out of the Box the colors were acceptable for the average user, it does need color calibration. But beware. IF YOU USE A DEVICE THAT ATTACHES TO YOUR MONITOR SCREEN TO CALIBRATE, YOU VOID YOUR WARRANTY. I had a brand new one out of the box. color calibrated it. the coating started coming off with an "approved brand" cleaner. The brands website carried the approval of viewsonic and was non ammonia or alcohol based. I contacted viewsonic, they said that they only recommend cleaning their screens with approved cleaners, yet they do not endorse any products to clean their screens, and thus cleaning constitutes customer abuse. Also attaching color calibration devices also constitutes customer abuse and voids the warranty. Then they attach this information to the serial number and if you call again they hang up on you saying that this issue was gone over with you and is settled 'click'.
