The good: The ViewSonic VX2433wm has built-in speakers, a number of useful color options in the OSD, and a low price.
The bad: The ViewSonic VX2433wm has a low max brightness level, and its colors in games and movies are dull. Also, it has difficulty distinguishing dark gray from black; lacks ergonomic options.
The bottom line: The ViewSonic VX2433wm is a low-priced monitor with acceptable performance for everyday tasks.

A Great Monitor at a Great Price!
by rranger1 on February 10, 2009
Pros: Extremely bright, vivid colors. Large desktop area and easy set up in both DVI and VGA. In Vista, I used the supplied CD to set up the monitor; Windows 7 Beta automatically identified the monitor.
Cons: My few complaints are the same as I have with all large-screen LCDs. Text can seem a little fuzzy at times, even in native resolution. We also have a Samsung 24 inch in the house with exactly the same "issue".
Summary: So far, this is a great monitor, and at $219 it was no-brainer. This monitor is very fast, with no ghosting. Mine came with no dead or stuck pixels.

iTunes videos and DVDs are exceptional on this. The playback is clear, crisp and vivid.
I'm loving having multiple windows open on the desktop with large viewable areas.
The built-in speakers are pretty bad, much worse than the speakers in my 1912wm. I wonder if that's because this monitor has a fashion-over-function design, where the speakers face down and back rather than forward. They've been a disappointment but, fortunately, I ordinarily use external speakers.3 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I needed a larger monitor so that reading on the net would be easier. Costco had this one on sale, $50 off. Set up was easy, and the software easy to understand. The monitor was a little to bright, but once configured it was fine. I watched a movie on it to see how it would look. Was like being at the theater. I am completely satisfied with it.

Disappointed

Pros: None in my opinion

Summary: Their home page says to contact tech support for help however after 4 e-mails with no response I talked to a tech person who said that the monitor was designed for games and not graphics. After a second phone call I was told to contact Adobe for a solution and then inform Viewsonic of the solution. I told them that it was their responsibility to do this and not mine. My latest response from their tech support is "I forwarded your case up to our engineers in order to give you the best information we can.
Here is the details for your unit:
Display Gamma = 2.20
Chroma Information:
Red X - 0.647 Green X - 0.284 Blue X - 0.151 White X - 0.313
Red Y - 0.334 Green Y - 0.607 Blue Y - 0.071 White Y - 0.329
Nevertheless, I must reiterate what I stated in my last email by saying we do not support configuring these settings in the various Adobe software" so evidently Viewsonic and their tech support don't care or else they don't have the intelligence to solve this problem. I will never buy another Viewsonic product.3 out of 5 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great Monitor at a Great Price
by Alex_8 on July 27, 2009
Pros: The initial monitor set-up out of the box was easy and the monitor has worked flawlessly since. Also, I went to an online dead pixel checker and could not find one dead pixel. The built in speakers are a nice touch as desktop space is at a premium.
Cons: The built-in speakers could be a little bit more beefy, but they are adequate for general use.
Summary: Overall I think the monitor is a great buy. The easy setup, initial quality, and its flawless operation since make the ViewSonic VX2433wm easy to recommend to a friend or ...

Great Monitor
by jlutgring on June 13, 2009
Pros: Gorgeous. Slim. Nice screen size. Excellent price. No dead Pixels. HDMI input. True 1080P HD. I've owned 2 other Viewsonic flat screen monitors. All were excellent but this one seems to really be the best yet.
Cons: Very difficult to get a deep black. it really should be calibrated. Collects dust, fingerprints, cat hair, etc.
Summary: Great monitor. Buy one.

Good Solid monitor
Pros: It was cheap for the display size, 125 - 150 at Office Depo compared to other 1080p 24 inch monitors was a good deal
Cons: When changing from one display connection to another it can take take. Like going from HDMI to DVI to VGA connectors if you use more then one.
Summary: Over all it's a good monitor, cheap, but good quality. The screen is sharp in my option, has alot of different connectors and you can toggle through them if ...

Like I do using one for my computer and one for my DVD player. The built in speakers are a nice touch, though the quality isn't that good if compared to decent desk top speakers.

Excellent value, great image quality

Summary: I looked into a number of different monitors and decided on Viewsonic after reading a series of glowing reviews for monitors in my budget. After ordering the VX2433wm, I found some reviews on this specific model and they were mixed so I waited with some trepidation.
No fear, the image quality was good out of the box and excellent after calibration. I am using the monitor for photo editing attached to a laptop computer. My laptop has a poor screen. My old 19" Fujitsu monitor was fine but I wanted a larger monitor. I looked at both LCD and LED monitors but found the LED monitors too vivid and best suited to gaming or graphical presentation rather than photo editing.
The size of the monitor is ideal. About as large as you can comfortably use at close range. While the review claims the image isn?t bright enough, I found the optimum calibrated stetting to be just 60% (my Fujitsu is on 100%) so I don?t know if possibly the review unit was an early sample or what but this is one bright monitor.
Image quality in a low priced 24? monitor is difficult to fault. The controls though are terrible and have to be learnt by feel. You simply cannot see the moulded symbols. Side controls are a pain at best but these are nowhere near that. I guess the marketing department won that part of the design battle. The casing is also rather lightweight but seems adequate for the job. The monitor is easy to tilt and I like the range of inputs.
The built in speakers are quite pathetic and no better than my poor laptop speakers. The quick guide and instruction manual on CD are not too flash either.
I give it a 4.5 star rating. Despite the criticisms, the monitor is great where it counts. Overall, extremely good image quality and great value for money - highly recommended for a low-cost 24? monitor. -
Wonderful monitor

Pros: I have an 8-year old system (ATI Radeon 7000 video card, 64 Mb VRAM, VGA), replacing soon so I can run video in HDMI. CD doesn't work either. Set up the monitor, attached the VGA cable, reset resolution to 1920 x 1080 and voila! works perfectly!!!
Cons: None - monitor works just fine straight out of the box and with no software loaded.
Summary: Minimal set up is very easy. Basic set up for me was just taking the monitor out of the box, connecting the VGA cable to the monitor and my computer, ...
Summary: Minimal set up is very easy. Basic set up for me was just taking the monitor out of the box, connecting the VGA cable to the monitor and my computer, attaching the power cord, turn on the monitor, turn on the computer, then reset the resolution to 1920 x 1080, and that's it! Looking forward to soon replacing my 8 year old computer with a notebook (with decent video card, at least 512 Mb VRAM, HDMI output and a CD / DVD so that I can load the View Sonic software and fine tune the monitor. However as it now stands I couldn't be happier and now returning to my favorite YouTube videos! To others - you'll enjoy the monitor as well - quite cheap for what it offers.
