Pros: Crisp, clear, and great versatility. Just used it last night for some pictures at a local ball hockey game. I don't see what everyone is griping about.
Cons: The only con would be the lack of IS, however, to save myself over $500 just for that feature, its not really a con. Other than that, a telephoto for $200 is a steal.

Summary: Great lens, just purchased it for my rebel T1i, and so far so good. I understand it requires a tripod for lowlight settings, but thats to be expectd. For daytime shooting, its fantastic. I think people get a little confused with price and quality...you don't need to spend more to get more, you just have know what suits your needs.
Pros: Inexpensive, light (also a con) and cheap...
Cons: Did I mention cheap? Light, poor build quality, image quality poor.

Summary: If this is all you want to spend- then it IS a telephoto zoom capable of 300mm for around $200. However, in the end - using this lens will be leaving alot behind photographically. You will probably find that you will lose a lot of photos to softness and in the end- the frustration is probably not worth it. You will have to work harder to get more "barely usable" photos- and you won't believe what a difference a better lens will ultimately make. However, in the right situations, and if you only use over 200mm sparingly- and stopped down, it can take some decent photos.
Cons: you get what you pay for, it's not a prime lens, but nice
Summary: I use this lens exclusively for my shots on www.ratemypoo.com. I use a tripod mostly instead of handheld, but with a high shutter speed, handheld pictures look great
