A perfect every day on-camera lens

Pros: Clear, sharp photos,
Excellent zoom range
Solid construction (no zoom creep, consistent feel while zooming/focusing)
Cons: Vignetting in corners at wide angle (easy fix in post)
3.5 aperture (wish it were lower)
Not weather proof like L-Series lenses

Summary: I wanted a lens which offered the best in range and image quality for general walk around use - and in my opinion there is no better alternative. The 15mm end of the range is very wide, and makes a world of difference coming from an 18-55. It offers that little bit extra that can add that much more to the photo (I take a lot of landscape photos). The 85mm end of the spectrum is great for close-ups, portraits, or any selective editing you may need while composing a shot.
It's only drawback would be it's f3.5 - f5.6 starting aperture - so shooting in poor light handheld requires ISO boosting to keep a reasonable shutter speed. But as most of my photo's are outdoors during the day, then this is not a reason not to recommend it - a reasonable compromise for what else it offers.

Pros: Reasonable size
Good focal length range
Large focal length rubber ring
High quality structure
High quality photos
Cons: Only compatible with EF-S compatible SLRs
Focus ring is too small
Aperture not ideal

Recommend this product to those who need a high quality general purpose lens for EF-S compatible bodies, but does use manual focusing often and does not compose much night photography.
