Great product, best mouse I've had.
by Bundeta on July 4, 2010
Pros: Good tracking, great weight and overall feel. All buttons are customizable. Has 5 possible settings for on the fly sensitivity control. 5500 DPI sensor is a overkill.
Cons: Thick cord is heavy and makes some noise on my wood table. Appears to have some positive acceleration even when you turn it off, but I am not sure of this yet. Bad positioning of some of the buttons.
Summary: I've had this mouse for two weeks, and I guarantee it is a quality product.

Summary: I've had this mouse for two weeks, and I guarantee it is a quality product.
I've had a Razer Abyssus before, which started some squeaky noises under a week, but had excellent weight (I prefer low weight mice) and great tracking. The problem is, it had nowhere near customizable options as this G500.
You can save up to 5 different DPI sensitivity settings which you can change on the fly with two buttons (which are a little two near the left mouse button, and could cause you to press them involuntairly).
There are three buttons on the left side, all of them customizable and great for binding some macros or specific weapons/powers and buildings for gamers. But indeed are unconfortable for pressing at sometimes.
The mouse comes with some weights so you can adjust the weight at your will.

Uncomfortable and poor design
by mwang1336 on June 18, 2010
Pros: Onboard memory and sensitivity control
Quick Scrolling
Sensitivity change on the go
Cons: This mouse is incredibly uncomfortable.
I prefer using my 10 year old mouse to this thing. I'm a gamer.
Your left finger will cover the seams and remind you that it's annoying.
The side buttons are always in my way.
It's doesn't conform to my hand.
Summary: Don't get this mouse. I made the mistake of buying this mouse simply because there was a rebate included with a discount at Newegg, but after using it for ...

Summary: Don't get this mouse. I made the mistake of buying this mouse simply because there was a rebate included with a discount at Newegg, but after using it for a month, I have to say that this mouse is disappointing. For $70, I could buy the Microsoft sidewinder. Or if I spend more money I can go with the older Logitech G5. I hate the grip on this mouse. I dislike the sensitivity button placement and moreso the side buttons. They but into my thumb. My hands are average sided, meaning my palm is two cm smaller than a CD all around and my fingers are about two inches each. I agree with others that the side buttons are the most annoying buttons in the world.
This design in also not form fitting. My thumb and lies in one groove and my pinky on the other. That means the two fingers besides my pointer, are lying on the too small right mouse button. My left pointing finger feels great, but my index finger feels the crease between the smooth shiny light grey cover and the black grip plastic.
This thing pisses me off so much I want to chuck it at a wall.
With the sensitivity of the mouse, I don't use a mousepad. It works great on most surfaces.
It's too slippery and the shape is unwieldy.
The grip sucks too.
Simply- Do not get this mouse. It's better off buying one of it's competitors at the same price.

I can't believe it's not better than the G5...
by romeobob87 on May 12, 2010
Pros: From the G5 to this, for what I was using my G5 for?
None.
I realise that Logitech are trying to make this a better version of the G5 but for me, this feels more like an RTS mouse now than an FPS mouse.
Cons: See Below, too many to fit in 250 characters...

To make way for that RIDICULOUS mouse-wheel spin button they actually placed a button on mouse1, which I have pressed a number of times by accident
Also there is 1 less weight in the tray, which I feel it needs. Simple solution, make the weights weigh more to compensate.
In Summery;
Get the old mouse wheel in, get more support for that extra button or drop it, move the DPI switch back to its original spot, centre the laser, and make the weights heavier.
I've loved Logitech for YEARS. I had the original G5, with 1 button.
I didn't believe they could improve it and then they did. This time they took it too far and ruined a good mouse, bring the G5 back into production, and remove the "5" from the name of this monster.
I'll say it again, Get rid of that mouse wheel, even locked in its so loose I can barely restrain myself from making an inappropriate comparison to it and a W****!

A Disappointment
by tan00001 on February 17, 2010
Pros: Good shape and weight, convenient controls
Cons: Gittery cursor, single forward/back button click gets repeated unexpectedly in IE

Summary: I have had three Logitech mice, and they are not reliable and they don't work well. Even my no name brand mice work better. I had Microsoft mice, they worked well, but they lasted only a few years. I thought maybe that the quality of Microsoft mice were below those of other brands, such as Logitech. Now I think that relatively speaking, Microsoft mice are better than Logitech mice.
