The good: Gives you fingertip, remote control over the most basic functions of your computer's media player.
The bad: As a remote, it offers only the most basic of functions. It's still mostly a mouse.
The bottom line: Logitech's mouse represents a new--and winning--use for the ever-present mouse. We recommend it.

Summary: I have been using this mouse for the past 5 months and am feeling great about it. All functionality has been great - cursor precision, battery life saving feature and of course its wireless !! I feel great to use this wireless mouse and the corded USB adapter that comes along with it makes it a great product to watch movies and control dvd from quite a distance say 10 ft. Thats a great feature Logitech has incorporated in the mouse. It is backlight with blue light which adds to its aesthetics apart from its ergonomic desgin and looks. I love it and strongly recommend this mouse !!

Main reason I choose MediaPlay was because it claims to have a receiving range upto 3 meters. At the time I was looking to hook up my PC to my TV and to sit comfortablely on my couch watching divx movies, so I needed something that gives me control to my PC while I'm sitting some distance away from the TV. Did a fair amount of research, and narrow my selections down to four.
- The gyration mouse. Pros: Control with the movement of your hand, don't even need a surface, 10m range; Cons: Expensive, not durable (lots of bad reviews!), always sell as mouse & keyboard combo, which I don't need.
- Bluetooth mouse from Microsoft/Logitech: 10m range, but very expensive.
- Logitech V500: Pros: Aluminum exterior, touch pad middle wheel, all terrain, receiver pouch, 10m range, same price as MediaPlay; Cons: No middle wheel click, no additional function or buttons.
-Logitech MediaPlay: Blue backlight, tons of buttons, all programmable, use regualr AA batteries, 3m range, invisible tracking LED, affordable price, also claims to be high precision.
So I decided to go with MediaPlay, and was quite happy with when I first bought it 'cause the 3m range checked out to be real. No false advertisment there. I'll give it credit for that. But it wasn't until later I started to see the cons. Major battery drain - two AA Duracells only last you 3 months. Other no name brands can't even last half the time. Precision & sensitivity drop exponentially to the battery power. Really picky on tracking surface, skips like crazy even with the slightest glossyness. Clumzy and unstable driver, and the Set Point software hangs all the time.
Then came the worst. Yesterday when I boot up my PC, I moved the mouse but the cursor just sat still at the center of the screen, didn't even tremble a little. Put in new batteries, reset the mouse, reinsert the USB receiver, reinstalled the dirver & software. Didn't help. It just died. The damn thing's backlight still lit up when I push a button, but the cursor was just not moving at all. Dig up the original retail box looking for warranty information. There was none. Checked Logitech's website, found the warranty period for MediaPlay is listed as "3". "3" what??? Days, Weeks, Years??? Sent a complaint to Logitech and still waiting for them to reply.

Much better than my last wireless
Pros: Ergonomic fit, volume control, no need to reset every time you shut down your computer, battery lasts fairly long
Cons: It would be cool if the blue lights stayed lit up, but that would take away from the battery life.

The buttons are customizable, so you can map them to run programs, perform actions, etc. And I personally think it's very comfortable. One thing I really love is the forward/back buttons, which are universal, whether you're browsing online, browsing your files, and so on. Great product!

Pros: Comfortable, functionable, easy to use, and nice blue backlight
Cons: My scroller skips all the way down to the bottom of the page every now and then, kind of a nuiscense
Summary: Overall this is a great device, especially for those who want some basic media functions to go along with their mouse. Would recommend buying one.

Summary: i bought this one with my new laptop. And there were two choice that i had to make decision. The 1st one was the lazer mouse it's the new tech. of the mouse and it's somewhat expansive. But this one, i like it because of the sleek desigh, excelent performance, and because it is not optical mouse, there is no light on the bottom. Negative side is that you only have to use logitech's mediaplayer. But it is not too good or bad. Lastly this mouse can use it more than 1 year without changing the batterties!!
