Fantastic Mouse, Worth the High Cost
by Animator88 on July 31, 2010
Pros: 1.) Fantastic tracking speed. I use it regularly on my iMac, and the updated Logitech Control Center drivers work flawlessly so far with Snow Leopard 10.6.4
2.) Feels amazing. The thumb rest and the sloped back make this mouse comfortable in my hand.
Cons: 1.) Price - Yes, it is expensive, but if you don't mind quality over quantity, then look no further.
2.) It's not bluetooth. Also, there's no real mac-compatible unified keyboard at the present time. Hopefully in the future there will be.

Summary: This has been a fantastic product thus far. The dual mode scroll wheel is amazing. I use the free-roll for everyday scrolling in windows and then switch it to the coarse scroll for when I need precision in Maya. I'm not much of a gamer, so I don't have an opinion in that area, but I can safely say this product has fit in wonderfully with my workflow.
The thumb button, is fantastic, and I find myself going out of the way to use it, as it works really well. I use it for my F9 expose shortcuts on my Mac, and this is great, because it feels like I can work between applications without having to break a train of thought. I mean, keyboard shortcuts are my best friend for anything, but having the handy thumb button for Expose just makes life easier.
The zoom button I have disabled semi-permanently. It's the only nuisance button on the thing. I find my thumb grips there quite often, so, having it set to anything would probably become a problem.
Prior to this mouse, I had tried (for 8 hours or more testing) two others. One was the Magic mouse and the other, a Microsoft mouse that came in a set. The Magic mouse was novel at first, but became an absolute pain to try and control in Maya or any application I was using. I had put Magic Prefs through it's paces, but that still didn't eleviate any problems. Let alone, the thing was slim, and not for me. The Microsoft mouse was fantastic, up until it started cutting out every 10 seconds. This mouse, was the far better choice of the three, and I'm not sure if I can be comfortable with any other mouse.
Finally, the construction on this mouse is so far, fantastic. I love the feel of the rubber thumb rest, and the curvature of the mouse is fantastic too. I reiterate the scroll wheel being phenomenal in design, as you can adapt it to any level of precision you may need. One reviewer mentioned the back being too high on the mouse, I disagree because it allows the palm to rest naturally, and is most likely more ergonomic.
Overall, after a week's worth of use, it definitely is shaping up to be worth the cost. I highly recommend this to anyone who's looking to replace their current mouse with a much more fine tuned, ergonomic solution. You just might find something to love about this mouse as well.

I have gone through two Logitech Performance Mouse MX
by polkadotsox on June 30, 2010
Pros: The size, I have large hands and it is great for the accuracy I need when using Photoshop.
Cons: Darkfield is lacking its supposed ability to use a wood desk top. I have a 8 year desk that Logitech Performance Mouse MX and other surface makes this mouse just to wonder. I have purchase 2 and had the same issues with both.
Summary: I would not recommend the $80 purchase. I like the size and the feel, but when it comes to accuracy, this isn't the mouse. It is VERY frustrating when ...

Summary: I would not recommend the $80 purchase. I like the size and the feel, but when it comes to accuracy, this isn't the mouse. It is VERY frustrating when you are trying to pin-point a pixel and Logitech Performance Mouse MX starts wondering off on its own.

Big disappointment given the >CA$115 price tag
by SOMETHINGRANDOM9503 on April 3, 2010
Pros: Good thumb button. Receiver is nice and small. That's it.
Cons: No accelerated horizontal scrolling making panning left and right sluggish. Pushing the wheel left and right requires more effort than necessary. Hyperscrolling slower than the Anywhere mouse. Pointing also not as precise as the Anywhere mouse.
Summary: Bought the mouse twice and returned it twice. First time I thought there was a problem with the wheel (reference scrolling issue under "cons") but second mouse had same issue. ...

Summary: Bought the mouse twice and returned it twice. First time I thought there was a problem with the wheel (reference scrolling issue under "cons") but second mouse had same issue. Overall, given the price tag, Logitech could have done MUCH better. So, who am I to complain? Only an executive assistant who's at a computer for more than 7 hours a day!

Great but not the Revolution
by dale303w on March 18, 2010
Pros: Darkfield really works. The method of charging is good too. Buttons are precise. Thumb button is a great idea but poorly implemented
Cons: Missing a lot of great features from the Revolution -esp clutched Scroll wheel.
Zoom and Thumb buttons not configurable in application mode.
Need to be really precise when pressing the middle button or it won't work.
Summary: Fantastic if you're coming from any other mouse than the MX Revolution. However, it's missing the things I loved on my Revolution. When is a specific application you ...

Summary: Fantastic if you're coming from any other mouse than the MX Revolution. However, it's missing the things I loved on my Revolution. When is a specific application you can only configure the left/right scroll and the forward/back buttons so in effect really, only two buttons compared to six on the rev are availlable for alternative uses. Not being able to turn off/reconfigure the thumb button during games is a particular annoyance as accidently doing an application switch is the last thing you want to do during a frantic frag out.
Gonna keep it due to the fact the darkfield really works but I still have my old Rev handy for some situations.

Liked the MX Revolution Better
by rlddlck on February 19, 2010
Pros: Great surface tracking. Charging actually works. Application switch button.
Cons: In comparison to MX Revolution:
Loss of left/right scroll
Loss of scroll wheel automatic free roll.
Loss of thumb wheel.
Bigger than the MX Rev. Not as comfortable.

Summary: I loved the MX Revolution, but the charging didn't work so I had to send it back to Logitech and they sent me this mouse in its place. I have little hands and this is a lot harder to use. I'm really unhappy about the the scroll wheel. This does not allow left or right scroll. More importantly, when I scroll down long excel documentsk, I loved how the MX Revolution would automatically switch to the free scroll. This mouse does not do that. I also don't like the placement of the forward / back buttons. I like to program a lot of features into my mouse and there are far fewer button options on this mouse.

seems to be solution to repetitive motion on laptop
by jeffmakah on January 31, 2010

Summary: My hand started to hurt. I was looking to order a mouse online that could keep my mouse hand in a thumbs-up position (e.g. Evoluent Ergonomic Vertical Mouse 3) , but I think this one is an answer, particularly as it is the top of the line in its features. Its really good at doing what a mouse should do, and it feels like (after one evening of use) I can avoid injuries like carpal tunnel. My powerbook touch pad seems to be the major cause of my discomfort, and the track ball mouses and regular mouses seemed to exacerbate the problem. For instance, I can use this on my leg, top of my head or stomach to change hand's position.

This is one killer mouse!
by rex16--2008 on December 22, 2009
Pros: Feel, accuracy, features, click response, movement consistency, batter life, wired and/or wireless...
Cons: A bit pricy, but if I add up the the cost of wireless mice that suck, I've wasted more on less.
Summary: I will never again get a cheap mouse thinking I am getting a deal. The accuracy and consistency of this mouse is perfect on my setup. The feedback for click ...

Summary: I will never again get a cheap mouse thinking I am getting a deal. The accuracy and consistency of this mouse is perfect on my setup. The feedback for click and wheel is positive and fast. This mosue feels sturdy yet glides smooth on my hard mousepad that I can finally use (this is the first mouse that has worked on this one.)
One of the features that I will never again be able to do without is the ability to go wired when my batter is low.
As a software developer, it is not unusal to be running my mouse 18 to 24 hours a day for days on end so there isn't really any good time to just hang up the mouse. And god forbid I should forget to set it up for charging before I do take one of the short cat-naps. There is no doubt that few, if any, wireless mice can last through a deployment weekend. Three days (72 hours) of hard mouse usage will bring any wireless mouse down. With this mouse, when the charge has finally had it, I just plug in the usb charger and keep going without a hiccup.
The charge time is also very fast so I'm not wired up for long when I do have to go that route.
This is the only wireless mouse that I have ever used through a full release cycle and after 4 months of heavy use and three operating systems, it has not let me down.
I would recommend this mouse to anybody. Unfortuantely, they tend to pass because of the price tag.
