Highly configurable
by als54 on October 10, 2010
Pros: Comfortable, fully adjustable to fit your hand. Very responsive laser and the software that comes with the mouse works well and is easy to use.
Cons: Because it's so configurable be prepared to spend some time changing out piece to get it feeling right in your hand.

A piece of junk that only looks pretty
by mg87KNR on June 15, 2013
Pros: It looks nice, and it fits my hand well, plus it's super smooth
Cons: Although the default Windows drivers work, you need to install the drivers and software to get everything this mouse has to offer. But when I try to install the drivers, my PC locks up completely and it forces me to do a system recovery.
Summary: Long story short, this is a bad mouse. I've never heard of something as simple as a mouse causing so many issues. Everytime I try to install the drivers, ...
Summary: Long story short, this is a bad mouse. I've never heard of something as simple as a mouse causing so many issues. Everytime I try to install the drivers, I lose control of my keyboard and the mouse becomes unresponsive, and trying to install a different keyboard and even unplugging the mouse doesn't help, nor does it stop the "driver installation". So I'm forced to shut down the system "improperly" which in this case also prevents Windows from booting normally, so I'm then forced to perform a system repair. And to think, I only got this mouse yesterday; these issues have happened twice already today, well I'm not going for a third time.
It's a bad mouse. Period. Save your money and look for a different mouse, and remind me to stay away from anything with MadCatz' name on it. -
Futuristic design, high customization and nice feel.
by Constant82 on March 6, 2013
Pros: Looks, "click feel", customization.
Cons: Doesn't respond well on mouse pads, build quality is rather low for the price tag, tracking average if not below average.

Summary: More of a transformer than a mouse, MadCatz may seem to have gone over the top with the exoskeleton design, but they haven't, honest! All the crazy design was purpose built to make the mouse (or Rat, if your fancy!) one of the most customisable mice ever- which in turn makes it arguably the most comfortable of the lot. As mentioned at the start of the article, DPI can sometimes give people the incentive that the mouse is far better the more sensitive it is. It isn't, but at least you'll be at rest to know that you're in store for up to 6,400 DPI! But this is by far the most uninteresting part of the mouse. Ever wanted a custom weight system? Tick that off your checklist. Ever wanted 6 programmable buttons for maximum control? Hazar! All included. Ever want.... I think you get the point, this mouse is full of innovative and exciting features, whilst it being practical and worthwhile- certainly not a gimmick like most gaming mice these days. No, with a solid aluminium chassis, Precision Aim mode for the ultimate sniper shot, 3 Cyborg modes and some powerful ST programming software which is surprisingly quick and easy to customise. Outfit your Rat with a bunch of great customisations and add ons, which include 3 palm rests, and 3 pinkie rests. Also, I'd like to note that you can adjust weight, palm length for you long handed folks, and a width adjustment for your thumb. All this and a brilliantly crafted braided cord culminates the years of hard work MadCatz have put into this mouse. Apart from the more prosumer price point, being £63 on Amazon, if you're looking for a new mouse that offers an amazing amount of features and customisability for the perfect gaming experience we at PixelVault believe this to be the mouse for you.

great mouse...at first
by jphillips37 on November 22, 2012
Pros: worked great at first. really liked the feel of the mouse and it is pretty smooth
Cons: after about 5 months the mouse will stop working and need to be unplugged and plugged back in. It will either stop moving all together or only move on the x-axis, cant look up or down. It has become a very frequent issue.

Simply the Best mouse I have ever had.
by tx00824 on October 13, 2012
Pros: Superb quality, very nice silky feel, customization is fabulous (I thought I wont care about it but it is so useful). I used to have Razer Copperhead and DeathAdder, and both are FAR behind this one in every aspect.
Cons: It may be a little to heavy as I am used to light ones but this is not so much a con for me, just a change.
Summary: If you want the best mouse, this is it

Quality mouse but not for every hand.
by BlooFlame on April 14, 2012
Pros: Sturdy build quality
Lots of customisation
Braided cordCons: difficult to lift and swipe [for those large movements]
sweaty surface

Summary: I've used a Logitech G5 for the last couple of years. The main thing I hated after using my G5 was that the surface was difficult to grip compared to the rough textured surface of my G5. Furthermore, the aluminium base plate needed to be longer, there is not enough support under the mouse for people who use 'palm' grip and place a little of your hand/wrist weight on the rear of the mouse, therefore the mouse pops wheelies.

Amazing, highly-configurable mouse with one flaw.
by Caldrumr1234 on June 22, 2011
Pros: Unrivaled configuration, ergonomic feel, great weight, high DPI for gaming, customizable, looks awesome, well-constructed.
Cons: Unwanted creeping.

Summary: I replaced my Razer Imperator (the worst mouse I have ever used) with this. I have to say, this mouse lives up to the hype. It is outrageously customizable, with three palm rests, three pinkie rests, and five removable weights. The right-thumb side moves back and forth and in and out, the palm rest moves back and forth, and all of the buttons and settings are customizable through the software.
Update: the drift on the mouse is still present, but much more tolerable using the standard pinkie rest. The extended pinkie rest causes the mouse to wobble a lot to the right, which causes a lot of the creeping effect. If you have this issue, swap out for one of the two standard pinkie rests, and the result will be more favorable (but not entirely solved).
This mouse is very well built, with solid construction, a steel chassis, heavy-duty plastic, and a braided cord. It also has a gold-plated USB connection.
My hands are large, so I need a mouse with some width, and some weight. This mouse has both, and I can customize it to fit my hand and preferred feel.
The only issue I have with this mouse so far is some odd creep. The only thing I can think is that the sensor is just so sensitive, it moves when you don't want it to. When I just have my hand on it, or I am trying to move in on something with the mouse pointer, it jumps back and forth. In fact, the cursor is jumping all over right now as I am typing, and I'm not even touching the mouse.
Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to click things, which is half of the mouse's job.
If not for the unwanted creeping, this would be a perfect, five-star mouse.

A very good mouse with some flaws
by hugh2112 on April 24, 2011
Pros: Highly customisable shape, very comfortable, very nice feature set.
Cons: Laser sensor has one issue, software is not as intuitive as Razer's.

Summary: Since this is my first gaming mouse, I won't compare it to other mice. I have seen other friends using their mice hence why I can say that the software is not very easy to use. Many of the terms used are not the usual and that can cause a lot of confusion, especially since it doesn't seem to have a user manual.
The only other issue I've had is that when I lift up the mouse to reposition it, the on-screen cursor jumps about 2cm to the bottom right of its current position. Reading up stuff on the web reveals that its the Philips laser sensor which has this issue (one of Razer's mice also uses the same sensor and it has the same issue) and that it might be fixed via a firmware update.
Apart from the issues above, this mouse is flawless for me. Looks awesome, very comfortable once you manage to set up the mouse properly to fit your hand, and the "sniper button" actually is useful (especially in Photoshop when doing minute detail work). -
Beautiful, but flawed.
by bubblyjava on March 19, 2011
Pros: Beautifully crafted mouse! Can't say enough about the looks. Has a very creamy texture and crisp clicking buttons. Very durable sheathing on the USB cable.
Cons: The front of the mouse where your fingers rest is weird. It's really wide so you almost end up using three fingers instead of only using two. But that's not too big of a deal. The biggest CON about it is the FLAWED laser (or firmware maybe). The laser

Summary: Beautiful mouse, but not usable. I emailed the mfg multiple times about the issue but never received a response....they are too busy trying to fix their flawed laser I guess. Would not recommend other than using as a paperweight....and a pretty expensive one at that.
