BEWARE! everything sound ok, but...

Summary: The wheel of this mouse comports HORRIBLY as a button. If you use graphics programs and such, you will eventually throw it away. The computer gets the impulse from the mouse late or it doesn't at all (and it isn't only MY computer nor is it my particular mouse).
The fact that the wheel doesn't have the bumps when you rotate it is actually a disadvantage. Windows still perceives the rotation in separate impulses, so the fact that you don't feel those impulses anymore just makes it harder to stop where you want.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

SUCKS real bad

Summary: This mouse is terrible. If you need a middle mouse button for something like panning or rotating objects in CAD, DO NOT buy this mouse! It just won't click unless I stand up and direct about 100lbs onto it. I'm ready to throw this piece of garbage across the room. In addition, if you just want to use the wheel to scroll with, it feels like the brakes are on. It feels like it's rubbing and wont spin. It sucks. Someone needs to just make a mouse that works again instead of trying to improve upon perfection with all the fancy stuff that doesn't work. I'm going to just buy a generic, plain Dell mouse off Ebay. They're nothing great either, but at least a little better(and less expensive)!

Summary: Left/right scrolling sounded like a great feature but there is a delay before it scrolls or I have to move the button several times to get it to "kick in". Tracking is jerky and cursor stops just as I get to my target. I've been told a darker surface will fix this problem so now I have to get a mousepad or return this mouse (my former mouse, a Kensington, scrolled just fine on my gray desk). My desk is crowded enough so not having to use a mousepad was wonderful; I had a little more room to roam. Magnifying feature helps with the small print of some websites.

Works fine, until the phone rings
by kwik5oh on March 20, 2007
Pros: Smooth scroll
Cons: susceptible to RF interference, which is BIZARRE, considering this is a CORDED mouse

Problem was, it kept disconnecting & reconnecting itself (not physically, but I'd hear the sound of a USB device disconnecting, then reconnecting. Then the mouse would freeze and stop working, and go a step further & freeze the pc). Same thing happened when I used the PS2 adapter, though now I couldn't HEAR it happening.
After a week of chasing the problem, I found that my cordless & cell phones caused it to happen. If either of them was on my desk & rang, the mouse would disconnect, then reconnect. Sometimes it would do it four or five times in a row...invariably, it would just stop working & I'd have to reboot. Heck...my cell phone didn't even have to ring...it just had to do its periodic 'talking' to the local tower & I'd lose the mouse.
I blame sub-quality cable. The cable on this mouse obviously has insufficient shielding, allowing RF interference to affect it.
Do yourself a favor - if you need a mouse, buy a Logitech.Updated
Forgot to mention - the old PS2 mouse that came with this pc worked fine.
The corded, optical HP mouse that I bought to replace this one also worked fine, with no disconnects even with all handsets on the desk, ringing at once. I just didn't like the feel, so I returned it for:
The cordless Logitech optical mouse & keyboard set I have now also is impervious to RF interference...at least, anything generated by devices in MY home. Should have gone this route first.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Great Ergonomic Mouse!

Summary: I bought this mouse about 2 hours ago from my local Staples. This mouse is very comfortable in my hand, and it can magnify that size 1 print that you sometimes have to read. Like this! But, when trying to set this mouse up, I had to plug in my old keyboard and mouse in order to find the stupid mouhid.sys file in order to complete setup. Also, when I tried to hook this up through PS/2, it was not working correctly. So, I could not free up a USB slot on my P3 866 running Win XP Pro with SP2. But all in all this mouse is an excellent mouse.

Better Apple Mouse Than Apple's Mouse

Summary: I love this mouse. While I was intrigued by Apple's new mouse the $50 price tag was a huge turn off. However I did want the programmable ability to pull up dashboard.
Answer? The Microsoft Comfort Optical Mouse 3000. It was half the price, had a more traditional and functional scroll wheel/control and the side button can be programmed to launch any applications including dashboard.
The top is sleek and well designed and you'd rarely know the mouse is a three button mouse as the plastic is single piece and the side button is practically invisible to the naked eye. I didn't even it was there until the second day I owned it.
The only downpoint is you must download the most up to date drivers, yes, very minor and petty gripe. It's kind of impossible to keep installation CD's in shipped boxed items as current as what you can put on the web. Microsoft Mouse 6.0 is optimized for OS X 10.3 and above and is extremely intuitive.
Thumbs up all around and a high quality useful product for an extremely reasonable price. Apple? You're embarassed again on your mouse being surpassed by third parties on a regular basis. First the hockey puck iMac mouse, then the single button clear mouse (Which I never ever used despite it being packed with my new Mac.) and lastly this queer little thing you're packing in with a rubber nipple.
Oh well, I rant. Great product for Mac users.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Average comfort with a host of annoying "features".
by FreshTints on December 26, 2011
Pros: Reasonably smooth
Side (magnify) button can be remapped
Reasonably durableCons: The scroll wheel is almost impossible to click straight because of the four way scrolling
The four way scrolling is a complete gimmick and barely works
Low profile leaves your fingers dragging on the desk
Smooth scrolling feels like wading in a bogSummary: This mouse is as expensive as an entry level gaming mouse for a start, which wouldn't bother me so much if it actually worked. The single most annoying thing ...
Summary: This mouse is as expensive as an entry level gaming mouse for a start, which wouldn't bother me so much if it actually worked. The single most annoying thing about this mouse is the scroll wheel. Middle clicking is the single most frustrating thing, and you will always end up scrolling about half a page before you actually press it. I have had this mouse for two years and it still works fine despite being dropped and having the wires gnawed by cats. The magnify button is absolutely useless in my opinion, as you can just zoom in using the keyboard shortcut, but it can be remapped, making it a reasonably useful extra button. I have used this mouse in excess of five hours, with the only hand problem being that my fingers got sore from dragging on the desk, which is more due to my grip and hand size than anything else. Overall, this mouse is overpriced and is ruined by its terrible addons.

This was a dissapointment and am shopping for another.
by Harry_Assenback on December 16, 2011
Pros: It will work as a spare when a good one breaks down.
Cons: wheel feels "sticky" on surface, but with no knurling, and the wheel is stiff when trying to spin, but is a constant fight. The mouse is also bigger than what I like, and takes up more real estate than I am willing to surrender next to my keyboard.
Summary: Disappointment MS. Logitech gets my $$ next time.

Summary: My mouse died on me and I've been looking for a nice left-handed high performance mouse; but they are practically non-existent apparently. I was thinking about getting one of those email logitech leftie mouse but I needed one fast and I was at office depot so...
Now I'm nor sure I'm buying another one soon. My hand is huge and it is a medium sized and cheap mouse which is kind of weird. I like it a lot.
