- The Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 isn't cheap, but if you want to go wireless and have an extra $70 lying around, this mouse is certainly an option. If you're going to spend that much, though, we think you'll like Logitech's high-end offering better.

The good: Comfortable shape; accurate laser tracks responsively; rechargeable; "executive" design.
The bad: Notchless scroll dial is hard to press and results in sloppy scrolling; lefties left out of luck.
The bottom line: The Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 7000 isn't cheap, but if you want to go wireless and have an extra $70 lying around, this mouse is certainly an option. If you're going to spend that much, though, we think you'll like Logitech's high-end offering better.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU USE LINUX!!!!
by jmcglaughlin on February 18, 2013
Pros: I have no pros
Cons: Middle key pasting is unreliable and intermittent
You will likely scroll x lines before you paste
Middle key is HARD!! to press definitely not ergonomicSummary: Sent back to factory because middle key was very stiff and would not paste reliably in Linux. Waited over a week to find out that the issue is an engineering ...
Summary: Sent back to factory because middle key was very stiff and would not paste reliably in Linux. Waited over a week to find out that the issue is an engineering defect which is probably related to the middle key being a left right horizontal scroll key as well.
Came back with a stiff middle key and still unreliable paste functionality in Linux.
MS should discontinue immediately and redesign. -
A very nice mouse, but it gets 'used' very quickly ...
by smeyersm on August 28, 2010
Pros: It's rechargeable, so you can keep using it.
Cons: Can't support intense usage.
Batteries get low quickly
The surface needs to have contrast for it to workSummary: I really dislike this mouse after using it for about 5 months now, it came with the wireless keyboard I got, wasn't cheap ... and after only a few months ...
Summary: I really dislike this mouse after using it for about 5 months now, it came with the wireless keyboard I got, wasn't cheap ... and after only a few months of usage the rubber on the scroll wheel lets go !
I've been using Logitech keyboard/mouse combinations for years but liked the look of the Microsoft keyboard ... I've been using an MX for two years now, and it still goes perfect ... I'll be replacing this entire set with a Logitech set now, sorry MicroSoft, this one just doesn't cope with 8 hours of working each day. -
Feels nice, great battery life.
by bphelpsen on April 5, 2010
Pros: Looks, feel, wireless, side buttons. I have had it go an entire week on a single charge, with about 12-14 hours of use a day.
Cons: After about 4 months the scroll wheel rubber will start to degrade and become gummy, almost like its being stretched out.
Summary: I have owned two of these, the first I bought, the second I got from microsoft after the first mouse wheel rubber became so unusable, they replaced it for free. ...

Not a good Purchase
by chrisssrock on September 16, 2009
Pros: It looks promising from the design. Sleek. Shiny. Wireless.
Cons: Not ergonomic at all..very low
Hands hurt after a few minutes

Summary: I bought the mouse because I am a computer teacher and use computers everyday. Recently my hands began hurting due to heavey mouse and keyboard use. So I bought this "ERGONOMIC MOUSE". It is not ergonomic at all. It is smaller and lower than most mice. I bought this mouse 4 months ago and now it stopped working. It keeps saying Battery low, even although I charge it all day. The mouse stops moving. I also purchased it because of the rechargeable wireless feature. It appears that wireless works, but the rechargeable part doesnt.
Don't buy this at all, not worth it.
Not what was advertised, "Ergonomic" - Not at all. :( -

by blogasur on January 14, 2010
Pros: Nice looking, great conectivity
Cons: It won't hold a charge for more than an hour, even if left charging all night, the back button is awkward to use
Summary: I've always owned microsoft peripherals and I like them all, this one is the exception
replaced rechargeable battery, works as it should

I agree... stay away from this mouse!
by Chrisxxxx1 on June 7, 2009
Pros: 1. It looks good
2. It is refreshingly light
3. the receiver is a simple USB key, and not the cabled "thing" provided with older MS Mice.Cons: 1. Although it looks ergonomic, it is not.
2. The bottoms are too hard to push, and have a distinguished creak and click.
3. Sore wrist after an ½ hour CAD use.Summary: I really wanted to like this mouse which I bought in a desktop package.

I used it for two weeks hoping I would get used to it, but it never happened and I got a sore wrist.
Wireless Intellimouse Explorer 2.0 which I used before, and after is way better, my wrist is fine again after going back. I only wished it was as light as the 7000.
I do mechanical design in a CAD system, sometimes using a mouse intensively for hours at a time. If I used this mouse at work, alone the distinguished creak and click would drive my colleagues nuts. However my wrist would not stand long.
Perhaps for someone who use their mouse very little, the 7000 would be OK, but mine is now sleeping in the drawer.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
