A bit annoying to work with

Summary: When this mouse is working it is like sliced bread. However, it's range is limited and quirky. Move the mouse in certain locations around your laptop and it cuts out, and that is with a fresh alkaline battery. Unless you have a USB port on the side you plan on using the mouse I would be wary. No, the back USB port is sometimes not close enough.

Great notebook mouse, except for some major flaws!
by puttingdog on March 1, 2006
Pros: 1000dpi laser engine, really precise; small enough while still ergonomic; four way wheel really useful; good enough battery life; very low clicking noise compare to the Logitech's,good for quiet place
Cons: NO SLEEP MODE!! (means your laptop will be ALWAYS ON while the receiver connected!!); really poor range compare to the competitives
Summary: I've used almost all the laptop mouse on the market. Really liked the idea of adding laser tracking function, it's really precise and all-terrain compare to the optical ...
Summary: I've used almost all the laptop mouse on the market. Really liked the idea of adding laser tracking function, it's really precise and all-terrain compare to the optical ones. Well built while keep it really ergonomic and small. The major complaint of the mouse was it's range, I have not checked the spec, but the range was only like 4 or 5 feet at most. Good enough small area, but if you're thinking of using it for presentation, you're out of luck! Another complaint was it's fail to go into sleep mode, if you forget to unplug the receiver while you go to bed, your laptop will STAY ON OVERNIGHT! which really sucks! I think I will keep it until the Logitech's V400 come out, other than the two major flaws I mentioned, this was a good laptop mouse indeed!

Great product, could have a little better battery life
by xcboi02 on November 3, 2005

Summary: I like this product, it moves really fast, and the receiver fits nicely in the back. I was a little worried that it would fall out easily, but the receiver fit snugly on the bottom allowing it to be easily portable. It's a small mouse, allowing it to be easily portable, but it is also big enough to fit your hand well. It has a nifty place for the battery, fitting in the small airspace in the middle of the mouse, allowing it to remain fairly small. Great design. I recommend it for anyyone who needs a mouse on the go, with good response. I do wish it was bluetooth, so that I don't hav eto carry the receiver with me, everywhere, in case I forget it somewhere, but it's ok.

AWFULL DONT BUY THIS ONE!
by keinesweg on March 26, 2009
Pros: none. though it was a good deal buying it as a combo with the webcam.. but mouse broke down
Cons: 2 small for everyday use. after 3 months, broke down by itself. No warranty. I also own the V450 from Logitech, and thats a real different prod. you cant only see and experience the difference, but also "feel it". Quality of Logitech, is way better..

If you want a Microsoft Portable Mouse go with the Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000. Its a lot cheaper and comfortable.

This is my first wireless mouse and got it on a sale from OD. I'm pretty good with technology and immediately set it up. I put the battery in and the darn thing would not work... I was frustrated... Then I decided to take a look at the battery, and Voila, I had installed it backwards.. Any decent piece of equipment should not allow that to happen... (To be fair to MS, they do have a picture of the battery position at the bottom).
Once that was done, it was click and go...
I enjoy it and Yeah I bought one for my GF too..1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: After upgrading from the wireless optical, I'm going back. With the receiver plugged into the back of the laptop, the mouse would often jump and skip (new battery being used). Also, it would not work well at all on a bare counter top, where the optical mouse tracked just fine. Stick with the optical mouse until the bugs are worked out.
Updated
My optical mouse tracks just fine on my kitchen counter. The laser mouse, however, is quite jumpy and/or slugish. I tried a new battery, then a mouse pad. With the pad it works fine, but I don't have the ability to use a mouse pad everywhere. Ii returned to my old optical 3000.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Outstanding Mouse

Summary: I've been using this mouse for about two months and it is a great accessory for a laptop. As a developer that spends an unhealthy amount of time on my laptop I find that it is comfortable and usable for extended periods of time. It is much nicer than the trackpads that come standard on laptops.
