Whats the point?

Summary: Whats the point of having a wireless mouse if you need to be within 2 -3 ft. of the reciever? Sort of defeat's the purpose, doesn't it? Also, with the rubberized base, it needs a smooth surface to ride on. Usless on couch, bed etc. Definately not an all terrain rodent. I exchanged it for a logitech V200 and couldnt be happier. With a 2.4 GHz reciever, I can literaly use it from another room (although I havent found a use for that yet). The reciever is also stowable in the base of the mouse, and it can be used on almost any surface. For exactly the same price, it's miles ahead of microsoft.

Great for notebooks, but absolutely no range.
by bugmenotcnet on July 25, 2005
Pros: Small size & USB adapter. Can carry it anywhere
Cons: Absolutely no range. A little uncomfortable after a while.

Summary: If you have a laptop and plan on using it strictly for traveling purposes, this could be the mouse for you. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere before purchasing this model. Other than being very small and portable, this mouse have very few good things about it. Anything over 1.5 feet from the receiver and the receiver fails to recognize its movement. I don't see what the point is in it being wireless. After a couple of hours of use, the small size becomes very uncomfortable.

Extremely short range
Pros: Ergonomic design.
Cons: Extremely short range. Mine has to be less than 2 ft. from the transmitter. Can't put computer on coffee table and mouse on couch.

Pros: Ease of use, usb storage in mouse
Cons: No range as others have said.
Slow response timeSummary: I would not buy again. In fact, I logged on here to find a review for a different mouse and CNET recommends this one. No thanks.

Mouse quite working after only 3 weeks.
by wise813 on September 3, 2008
Pros: Compact and easy to use
Cons: Bluetooth quit working after only 3 weeks.
Summary: Buy at own risk. This mouse works nicely when working, but unless you want to keep replacing it, go with something different.

Good mouse (and they changed the crappy reciever!)

Pros: Comfortable size, decent range, new reciever, high definition
Cons: Non-sale price is high, long term reliability?

Summary: After hearing all the bad experiences people have had with this mouse I was hesitant to go and get one, even with its sale price of $20 (Canadian). However I did buy it when I saw that microsoft changed their unreliable and illogical reiever with a new more conventional 'stub' reciever.
So far I'm delighted with the mouse. The size is the perfect compromise between comfort and mobility. The high definition of the mouse means you need little movement of the mouse to move the cursor which allows me to use it on the plastic edge of my laptop. The quality is also very good it feels just like a corded mouse. Finally the range is far better than other reviews (and even Microsoft) suggests. The user manual says it has a range of 2.5 feet but mine works at twice that distance (although an ever longer range would be great).
My only negatives are that its non-sale price is quite high and that although they did change the reciever, I've lost some of my trust in microsoft and I question the long term reliability of the mouse; Nevertheless, I was attracted to the low price and the with the quality of the mouse and so far it's been a great buy. -
Short range, short lived, expensive, bad drivers

Summary: I travel a great deal for business, and thought this would be a good compromise between size and comfort. It was expensive -- $40, and had good battery life. But it's a little large, and the really bad things was it is a NIGHTMARE to get the computer to take the Intellipoint drivers most of the time, the range is only about 1 - 1.5 feet from the receiver, and the whole thing just quit working after only a few months of service.
