Summary: The one thing that amazes me is the terrific battery life. for the first couple months I kept checking to see how much the battery went down and could never notice a difference. It has been 3 months and I am starting to believe I will get 6 months easy with the original off brand battery that came with the mouse. The mouse is smooth and works perfectly. Fully adjustable and travels well with the transmitter tucked away in the bottom of th mouse (This also shuts down the optical) Great mouse for the money. I noticed no difference between the laser mouse and the optical with the exception I decided to keep the optical.

Its great!
by Colper on June 8, 2010
Pros: Comfortable, works great, smooth, easy to store (usb plugs right into the bottom). 4 way scrolling, zoom in button.
Cons: Doesn't work well on my white wood grained surface (the surface under my mouse pad), does not recharge, and the "zoom in" button feels a bit cheep.
Summary: I am very happy with this mouse. At first I thought it was a bit light weight, however, once the battery is in, it has a perfect weight for the ...
Summary: I am very happy with this mouse. At first I thought it was a bit light weight, however, once the battery is in, it has a perfect weight for the size. And to take care of any non-rechargeable mice issues, I suggest investing in a set of rechargeable AA batteries (and charger) and you will never have a dead mouse. It's great for a portable mouse and I think it is very comfortable. It also works great from a decent range. I have my pc at the foot of my bed, and I'm at the head, so thats about 5 feet away, and it's working great.

Looks nice, feels nice, set up easy,...works like crap.
by wfmcmd on March 21, 2010
Pros: Looks nice, feels nice, sets up easy....
Cons: Pointer lags the hand movement of the mouse. Also, it takes large hand-mouse movements to move very short distances on the computer screen. Wrist problems in the making....
Summary: Would not purchase another... I am taking mine back to office max.....

Wouldn't buy again...
by winansd on September 18, 2009
Pros: Comfortable feel, good overall design, easy to install. Really liked the ability to customize the side button with the Microsoft-provided software.
Cons: Mouse got very jerky due to latency and "poor wireless condition." Meaning that as I used the mouse with my latop during the day (like 18 inches away from the usb reciever) the signal would erratically go from excellent to poor.
Summary: If I had the option, I would not purchase this mouse again. I consider it a waste of money at this point.

Ver Nice Mouse

Summary: The Microsoft Optical Notebook Mouse 4000 is a great mouse to do everyday tasks and then some. It has a nice fit in my hand and has smooth scrolling. However, if I bump the wireless receiver, the green LED will blink and the mouse will go back online when the LED stops blinking. Not sure why it does this, though.

Dont waste your money!

Summary: The mouse is the worst one I never bought. First of all, this mouse has terrible high latency which always 0.1sec slower than your hand. You will notice that when you play video games, specially 3D shooting games like Counter Strike. If you trying to aim a headshot with this mouse, forget it! The scroll button is insanely loosey, even air blow can make it moves. But when you scroll it, you have to spin it to 1000RPM to make a webpage to move 1 line. But if you in a video game, this mouse will **** you off. There is a zoom in button located on the leftside of the mouse. And the button is so close to your thumb that can accidently pushed. If you are watching movie or playing games with fullscreen, accidently touch that zoom in button will bring windows to front. That will cause a big lagging. The attachment of USB singnal reciver and the mouse itself is worse designed. It is very loosey and can be easily take off. When the USB singnal reciver is not attached to the mouse the mouse is activing which consumes powers. If you put this mouse in your bag or case. Please treat it as gentle as a water bloon. One big move can takes the USB singnal reciver from the mouse. 2days later, the next thing you know is that your brand new AA DuriCell is dried. This mouse sucks.

by hgjohnst on March 27, 2007
Pros: Better response than previous wireless I've had
Cons: Seems to have died dispite showing good battery and wireless signal. Followed MS Knowledge base 321122 there is still no response.
Summary: I liked the mouse while it worked. I never did find a use for the magnifier and kept forgetting that it has side to side scrolling.

Great mouse for on-the-go people.
by dkinsey on June 16, 2006
Pros: Fits hand well, receiver storage is a nice touch.
Cons: None so far with this one.
Summary: I needed a wireless optical mouse for use with several different notebooks and this did the trick. I like the convenient storage of the receiver.
