Constantly drops connections
Pros: Simple to setup, easy-to-read internal page and LEDs, stackable wih Linksys router, relatively small footprint if not stacking with router.
Cons: Apparently I'm not the only one with constantly dropped connections. Modem needs to be rebooted at least twice a day. Signal levels are perfect, PC is tip-top (brand new PC), modem provisioned correctly. I think people buy this based on the router's fanta

Worked great when it was supported...but no more
by Jotas on January 10, 2007
Pros: Your own modem, stacks nicely with other Linksys devices, Easy to setup
Cons: No longer supported by Comcast, No upgrade path to DOCSIS 1.1, Constant connection drops

Summary: I purchased this modem about three years ago and was satisfied with it for about 1 1/2 years. It stacked up nicely on top of my other Linksys products at that time.
However, with time and changes this modem is now no longer supported by Comcast because they claim it cannot be upgraded to DOCSIS 1.1 standards. Finger pointing between Linksys and Comcast have left the poor consumer out in the cold and in the middle of a no win situation.
The other big problem is that there never goes an hour that this modem does not drop the Internet connection. It is a pain to manually reset the modem each time this occurs, and it sometimes the only way to temporarily get your connection back up and running.
From experience with other Linksys products I have now turned away from this company. The other products like this one have let me down, specifically their WAPS/WiFi cards and routers.
Avoid this modem at all cost and instead go with a Motorola which after I did, gave me not only a steady connection, but also increased my bandwidth by 1MB.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: I'm a big fan of Linksys routers, so thought I would try this cable modem since it stacked nicely with my wireless router. Well couldn't get it to stay online, had to continually reboot it, any large download files or P2P and it would go offline. I had Cox cable out twice thinking it was an outside line problem, eventually replaced it with the Motorola Surfboard SB5100, wow what a difference, Motorola is like comparing a Ferrari to a VW, tremendous speed, not data loss, never goes off line and handles my vonage phone system and all wireless computes with ease. Go with Motorola and forget Linksys for modems and save your time and aggravation!

Save your money, buy a pigeon!
Pros: Looks good. Nice size. Reasonably priced.
Cons: Unreliable. Needs to be rebooted daily (sometimes more), especially if a large file is down/up loaded. Linksys tech support was unresponsive.

Keeps dropping connection
Pros: Easy to install, and setup. Appearance.
Cons: My first one worked fine for 10 months, then started dropping the connection almost daily, needing to be rebooted. I exchanged for a new one from Linksys, but the new one does the same thing.

Summary: If you have a great deal of time to spend on the phone with Linksys technical support, then you might like this product - that is what it will take to get a return authorization. I've been through 3 of these wonderful devices and they all have failed. One guy even told me that his last job was as a pizza delivery boy. I tremble at the thought of what their engineers might have been doing prior to production of this POS.

This modem won't last for more then 12 months.
Pros: This modem only works well for the first 10 months, after that it begins to drop connection daily.
Cons: Linksys needs to learn from Motorola.
