Amazingly Fast Cable Modem
by Charlie769 on May 5, 2009
Pros: 5 minute Cox Install with Call to Customer Service. Speednet.test went from no more than 5Mbps to 6-30Mpbs (Cox has bustable speed). The 5mbps was on a motorola surfboard (Both Docsis2.0)
Cons: No significant issues
Summary: I find the other review horribly unfair. To judge a modem based on its ability to circumvent cable companies is just wrong. I don't agree with all their policies... ...
Summary: I find the other review horribly unfair. To judge a modem based on its ability to circumvent cable companies is just wrong. I don't agree with all their policies... but dis the cable company and not the modem. This modem has been stable and proven to be significantly faster in with this cleint installation. Not a fan of Linksys Routers, but love this modem.
Burstable Speed.... Sorry for the typo

MODEM WORKED JUST FINE
by mark13827 on July 26, 2011
Pros: Not paying the local cable company to "rent" their modem.
Cons: Nothing negative I can think of!

Summary: If you use cable for your internet, buy your own modem. That way, even if you move to a different city with cable connections, you'll most likely just have to call their tech support to tell them what your modem's MAC address is and they'll get you on-line. (I changed my rented modem with this one and that's what I did with them.)

Not working right after a few month
by xiangliang1 on December 30, 2010
Pros: Easy to install
Cons: Working OK at the beginning, but when it failed, it had passed return policy.

Summary: I had bought this in Jan, and works for two months, then I found I network often down, my phone is not clear, the other party's vioce always in broken way, can not hear clearly.
sometimes a few seconds, and sometimes a few hours, I always thought this is cause by the ISP Wide Open West and the phone company Phone Power, but everytime I called, WOW told me the service was fine most of time, and Phone Power said they have not service problem. I also had called Linksys, they looked at the modem somehow through the Internet, and also said it works fine.
After two three months of phone struggle, WOW rent me another modem, and the VOIP phone provided by Phone Power then work perfectly good, and ISP service become very stable.
I sent the old Linksys modem CM100 in for replacement after a lot of arguement to tell them the modem doesn't work, they give me a replacement in about August, and now this replaced unit is broken again, I have to rent from WOW again.
With all those shipping and handling, I can buy a new cable modem. -
Doesnt have GB backpained switch
by giman2 on December 1, 2007
Pros: backed by the best router maker in the business
Cons: only one ethernet port, or usb port, no MAC cloning

Summary: Come on guys. you know as well as we do, most cable vendors require you to use their equipment. Usually this is a broken down version of last decade technology, and no features but a single eithernet port to pump your entire network data in and out. It doesnt matter how much data flow you have in house. That GB switch ait gonna cut it when you can only use a single cat5e.
How about MAC cloning so we can use your product with our hard to get along with Cable providors! (wireless N, file storage?, Firewall, gb switch with 8 ports backplained to the motherboard?) Oooooo and add on a wireless N Media Center extension, and we are talking the best of the best! I would trade in all my routers, switches, cables, nic cards, and firewall and pay $1000.00 for what Im asking for. What do you say linksys? (BREAK THE MOULD!) whew!1 out of 10 users found this user opinion helpful.
