  Pros: On 4G - this is not too bad. Around 2 to 3 Meg down and about 300KB up in most places

  Cons: On 3G - this is USELESS. I travel in all 50 states nearly 5 days a week. On a GOOD day, you MIGHT get 200 to 300 Kbps down speed (average for me has been 200) and upload speed is 10KBPS - or 1/3rd the speed of the 20 year old MODEMS. This is a serious let

  Pros: No pros for 3G service. Might be OK if you only use it for 4G.

  Cons: 3G capability is practically non-functional. Unless you use it after midnight, it will only work for a few minutes at a time -- and even then it will still have problems.

  Summary: Maybe this modem works if you live in an area that really gets 4G -- but if you have to use it in 3G mode, it's completely worthless. If will transmit data for five or ten minutes (sometimes less) and then you are unable to upload or download anything. PC shows the modem as 'connected' to a network, but the modem can't load any web pages -- so it's either not really connected or it has frozen. You have to either 'disconnect' and then try to reconnect the modem -- or in some cases have to restart your PC.
  
  I had a bag, which contained my Sierra 598U modem, stolen at the airport on Christmas. I'd been using the 598 for a couple of years, all over the United States, without any problems. When I went to replace the stolen modem, I saw that Sprint had announced that their 4G service was up and running in San Francisco. I didn't see any negative reviews of the 600U at the time, so I spent $200 to purchase the 600U -- and got a new two year contract. Well, it turns out that 4G works in only about 10% of the neighborhoods in SF and there's no projected date when that will change. I can not get even an inkling of a 4G signal where I live or where I work. Meanwhile the 3G capability of the 600U is close to non-existent,. It has taken me up to an hour to send an email, which should have taken less than two minutes.The 600U either doesn''t connect at all -- or when it does, only does so for a few minutes AND with the speed of a snail. I took the modem in to a Sprint repair store. When I got it back, I was told that they had to upgrade the hardware -- and that it was 'fixed.' Nope. It's pretty much as bad as it was before. I'm returning it tomorrow. I'm not sure if Sprint is even offering the Sierra 598U anymore. If they aren't, I will buy a used one from eBay. The fact that Sprint is selling the U600 as 3G/4G capable is a disgrace. If you go to Sprint.com and read the reviews that have been written since Jan 1, 2011, you'll see that there are a lot of people who cannot get 3G service with this modem and have given up trying. Those who are in 4G areas seem to be happy with it. That might be fine -- as long as you don't ever need to use it while you are traveling out of a 4G area.

  Great performance, nice look - happy camper...

  Pros: First, I like the way it looks, second I like the way it works - once you get going it's pretty fast, but what surprised me the most is how smooth the hand off is compared to my last modem, this is by far much better.

  Cons: The software on this is robust and takes a really long time to load, and I probably wouldn't use half the features. If it weren't for this part of the process, this product would be a 5 in my book.

  Summary: I chose this device because the rep at Sprint couldn't articulate the difference between the U250 and the U600, and I didn't like the U250 design, so I went with the U600. I liked the way it looks and it's fairly smaller and lighter than the U250 and U301 that I saw.
  
  After about 10 minutes of installing software the modem looks for 4G first and if it doesn't find it, the modem will look for 3G service, while switching between 3G and 4G there's a little hick up, but not like before when you lose your enttire session, so in that regard it is much better.
  
  Bottom-line, the product is better than my previous dual-mode modem. The hand off is better, the updates are much easier to load, and the device's speed performance is awesome.
