Product brief
Intro: The Asus P5Q is an Intel P45 Express-based, enthusiast motherboard.Compared to other enthusiast motherboards on the market, it is relatively inexpensive at around $140.This motherboard supports Celeron, Pentium D, Pentium Dual Core, and Core 2 processors that use the LGA775 interface.
Noteworthy Features: Is built around an Intel P45 Express-based chipset, which is considerably more robust than some similarly priced motherboards. Also, this motherboard supports up to 16GB of RAM, which is somewhat more than some similarly priced motherboards. In fact, the average cost of a product with this large an of RAM is $350.In addition you can take advantage of the onboard Firewire (IEEE 1394) to quickly transfer data to and from A/V devices such as MP3 players and camcorders.
Weaker Features: None noted, given available product data.
Suitability: An enthusiast motherboard, suited for high-end performance and overclocking.
Value: Given its relatively inexpensive price, this motherboard has great features for the money.
Suggestions: (1) Be sure that you are using a LGA775-compatible processor with this motherboard.(2) If you want to take full advantage of the on-board SATA controller, you will want to consider a hard drive upgrade.Existing IDE hard drives will run on the ATA-133 bus.(3) For motherboard add-ons, check out the storage and components section of CNET's website.
Overclocking: This board has advanced manual options that aid in overclocking and performance-tuning efforts.

Ideal motherboard for budget consumers and pro gamers
by Bi0cide on July 9, 2009
Pros: Awesome overclocking potential, Extremely stable, nice thermal figures, simple and effective design, expected quality performance without any glinghes and long lifespan, Good Price.
Cons: Main Power connector located at a not easy to manage spot, not anything serious but could bring trouble for users who lack real estate in their cabinet and long length power cables from the PSU

Summary: Here is the real thing. I don't like Dual GPU configurations such as SLI or CrossfireX, they cause problens in few cases and few games cannot fully utilize dual GPU usage. I have seen several games run slow on dual 8800GT SLI configurations than a single 8800GTX. the specs of the 8800GT suggests that it should outperform the GTX when in SLI. It is true and is also proven with good SLI capable games, but not in several cases. Some Game titles cannot parallel interface in dual configurations and this fact is also true for intel Core2 Duo and Quad. I have also seen an E8500 outperform a Q6600 in most cases. The ASUS P5Q is the ideal Motherboard for gamers who love simplicity as a fact which promote overall system stability, and anyway the P5Q is not a simple motherboard, It has potential for extreme overclocking. Just look at the Specs at the web, you can max the memory voltage all the way to over 3.0v and so goes for the CPU with over 2.0v. and it is also stable. It supports 1600Mhz FSB and DDR2 @ 1200MHz without the overclocks in place. In fact the system has overall stability over high margins of clock speeds. all thanks to the 65nm fabricated intel P45 chipset. The Only thing i don't like is the Power connector which sits at a not so friendly space, not a true problem if you have real estate around your Cabinet and a good PSU. Overall, this Board is KILLER ! It Kicks ASS !
