Pros: Intel products at one time use to be rock solid. Built a Pentium 4 with intel's board D915GAG.This machine is still up and running and has been for the last 9 years. I built a game rig which ran me about 6 k .I decided to go with Intel's DX58SO board.

Summary: Intel products at one time use to be rock solid. Built a Pentium 4 with intel's board D915GAG.This machine is still up and running and has been for the last 9 years. I built a game rig which ran me about 6 k .I decided to go with Intel's DX58SO board. Within the first month the board had to be RMA'd due to a failing chip on the board. Got the replacement board and within 6 weeks that board as well had a bad chip. This happened with a total of 6 boards.Yes you read right, 6 boards! Intel even had the nerve to tell me that the reason chip was failing was because I wasn't using the board "properly'. I don't over clock. The boards were all put in by a very reputable pc shop that specializes in building game rigs. Yet 6 boards with every chip failing is due to misuse . I wouldn't suggest this board to anyone unless you are into overpriced fail boards that are good for collecting dust and used as a paper weight!!
Cons: Board will not work with certain processors out of the box. SO board SO processor. I have had issues with 2 boards (no beep codes or trichannel working)

Summary: You have cutting edge tech so worth the issues. 50 days of down time. My current issues I can live with. Would suggest ditching the bios, start from scratch to inusre no issues after it is too late. Hope trichannel will be fixed with future bios but may be unfixable on my board. Lack of beep codes seems like a major flaw. Always suggest motherboards have onboard video to ease trouble shooting. $20 in RMA return fees cost of doing business. Speed gains unnoticeable until processor taxed...video converting TIME cut down to 33%.
