Summary: Having read all the reviews about a number of these devices and wanting to have the ability to move the iPod from car to car without having to schedule costly installs at Best Buy, I opted to buy this device.
Wam Bam connected and the sound is better than I expected. In fact it pretty close to CD regardless of the car I have used it. I love the idea of the iPod always being charged. I take it out of the car for sports and it has a full charge.
Stop, do not look any further for portable, near CD quality sound from your existing stereo system or any car you happen to be in.
I just was on the road for 6 hours in an area where there is really no raido that anyone would want to listen to and was very glad I had the iPod and the Monster device.Updated

The best inexpensive solution
by gdorrough on March 3, 2005
Pros: Compact. Cheap

Summary: After researching many ways to get my iPod to play through my car's stereo system, many of them outrageously expensive, I settled on one of these. Undoubtedly the best inexpensive way to take your music with you. I have heard some people say there is too much interference, but I haven't had that problem. I live in Palm Springs so maybe some bigger metro areas would have that problem. I never have to switch stations. Just set my radio to FM 88.1 and I'm good to go. Charges my iPod at the same time. I like it so much I bought another one for my wife's car.

Great Product, Better in car than iTrip
by rickparks on June 18, 2005
Pros: Excellent Sound, Monster Quality
Cons: Requires 12V Plugin
Summary: I was worried that it only had 8 radio stations pretuned, but this piece is great. A crystal clear signal. I could not ask for a better transmitter.

The iTrip is nice if you are not moving, but I suspect that the power is not enough to get a clear signal in the car. There was too much static when driving around.
I have both this Monster iPod Wireless Transmitter for the car and the iTrip for when I am stationary.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Pretty good looking, this one is ...you know what. Tried it in USA for use in a Ford Mustang 2001, after 10 minutes in operation it stopped working, the LED's fade out. Took it with me for use in my car in Bulgaria, thinking that probably something's wrong with the Mustang - ditto, it won't work with my old trusted Honda as well. Don't buy it.

Has damaged the ports of two ipods
by Groktor on December 10, 2007

Summary: After two years of owning the icarplay, and not being terribly impressed with it, I am finally giving it up. It has worked terribly in all but the most remote of locations, and it frequently cuts out of one channel of my stereo. But I just found out today that it has RUINED two of my ipods!
I replaced my old 30g ipod video about three weeks ago, because my computer stopped recognizing it. It was out of warranty, so I had to buy a brand new one, full price, etc. Then, two days ago, the brand new 80g ipod classic also stopped being recognized by my computer! This was a very unusual problem, and it was strange that it had happened twice to me.
I took it to the mac store, and the genius desk guy concluded that power surges via the Monster had fried the motherboards of both ipods. Now, this may have been in part due to a problem of my car, I don't know, but I plan on NEVER hooking anything from a cigarette lighter into any electronic that I value.
In the end, it would have been not much more money, and ultimately cheaper, to just get a cheap car stereo with a 1/8" audio input, which is what I plan on doing with my new (3rd) ipod. And I will have way better sound quality!
This piece of junk is highly NOT recommended. Expensive, poor quality, a pain to use, and possibly dangerous to your ipod. -
Finally - one that works.
by mgiovinazzo on April 7, 2007
Pros: easy to use, good transmission strength
Cons: no FM transmitter is as perfect as a direction cable connection
Summary: I listen to audio books on my commutes and tried two other bargain transmitters but was always disappointed. I splurged on this one and was very pleased. Much less interference ...

Very poor quality
by gregsilin on June 6, 2005
Pros: None... For me at least
Cons: All of the available channels have horrible static, quiet sound
Summary: This is the worst $60 I've spent in a while. The sound is very quiet, and I get horrible static on every channel.
Maybe the product is defective, but ...Summary: This is the worst $60 I've spent in a while. The sound is very quiet, and I get horrible static on every channel.

Summary: I got this for my ipod ( which i got for free ala www.freeconga.net ) and it rocks. I'm able to transmit to my cars stero, which makes long drivers easier. I also tried this on my stereo at home and it works fine. I'd suggest getting this model if you're looking for one as it has served me well.
