Love the look and functionality of my iPod Mini - if only the battery would last a little longer
by TechFan on February 24, 2005
Pros: Outstanding playlist options; compact design; plenty of fun and handy extras.
Cons: Underwhelming battery life; no FM radio; no line-in or mic recording; sometimes hard to turn off.

Summary: The small size and handy features of the iPod Mini makes it my MP3 player of choice. Even though it has much less storage capacity than the regular iPod, its increased portability makes up the difference. 4GB still means thousands of songs, and the iPod's great playlist makes it easy to make a personalized mix tape, no matter what my mood.
Once small glitch I have found is that I sometimes have trouble turning the player off. When I hold down the play/pause button, it occasionally shuts off and then turns right back on when I let go of the button. And, so far, I've been less than overjoyed by the battery life. I have yet to time a full charge, but it seems like the battery icon is half full after just an hour or so of use.
Those minor qualms aside, I can't imagine life without my iPod Mini. It's become a key part of my morning and evening commute. I'm even getting better at playing the iPod solitaire game!65 out of 70 users found this user opinion helpful.

Ipod Mini...

Pros: Sleek, Click wheel is real cool, great sound

Summary: I missed the brand new Ipod Mini by a month, so I didn't luck up on the 18 hour battery life. I'm in high school so I take this with me to school and by the end of the school day the battery life is almost dead.
Click wheel is very nice, and the ipod is very tiny and sleek. Great Sound.
When I plug it in and want to add music and put notes I have trouble. So I put the songs on the Ipod but after it updates the IPOD MINI disappears on My Computer so I will then take the plug out and then plug it back in and sometimes it works but sometimes it doesn't. three broken in one year
Pros: Prestige (if you're into that sort of thing)
Cons: When a sales clerk asks if I want an extended warranty, I usually laugh in their face, but with the iPod Mini I actually suggest you demand it. Unlike 95% of the people reviewing products on cnet, I have actually owned mine for more than 3 days. On 29 Feb

Summary: This is a great mp3 player if you don't have too much music and don't care about terrible battery life. The ear phones are very cheap, they kept on breaking. Overall, I think it's worth it. Just get better ear phones, or better yet buy the new mini.

GREAT DEVICE, BUT WITH A FEW NEGATIVES
by terrychan on July 5, 2005
Pros: Style, Variety of Colors, Features, Durability, Capacity
Cons: BATTERY LIFE IS HORRIBLE. A better choice would be the newer 2nd generation Ipod mini.
Summary: According to the specs., the battery life is suppose to last 8 hours when fully charged. When I tested it, I only received on average 4 hours, sometimes 5.

Summary: Overall, the Ipod Mini is a great MP3 player when it works. My menu button quit working after about a month. When I took it back to Best Buy they just told me they would have to send it off. (Very POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!) Like I said when it works, it is great with great features. Just be careful where you buy it from.
