The good: The iPod Nano costs less than before, is easier to navigate, and includes more Nike Plus fitness tracking capabilities. It's also still the best clip-on music player money can buy.
The bad: Many features have disappeared over the years, including video playback, camcorder, microphone, speaker, games, calendar, contacts, notes, and alarm clock. The touch-screen interface is overkill, requiring more attention than the time-tested click wheel design without delivering many practical benefits.
The bottom line: The sixth generation of the iPod Nano is the smallest yet, but it comes at the expense of valuable features and practical controls.

Nano: A Step back into garbage.
by Drill_Thrawl on December 19, 2010
Pros: Nothing much that I can think of.
Cons: Sound quality sucks. Does not save your place in podcast. Can not be turned off. It's supposed to turn off "intelligently" but after I listen to a song, push the sleep button and in a few hours the battery is dead.
Summary: Poor sound, bad controls and poor usability does not make for a good MP3 player. A very expensive mistake on my part.

Fantastic running iPod.
by mlprocopio on December 11, 2010
Pros: I use my Nano for running and my Touch for most other stuff. The Nano is a fantastic running companion. Everything you want, not much you don't. No more wearing an armband case, just clip to my shirt.
Cons: I like what they got rid of. I didn't need all that stuff on my small player.
Summary: Nike+ perfection.

Not as good as we'd have hoped it would be.
by cnet729333android on November 29, 2010
Pros: Really small and lighweight; ideal for travel. Up to 16 GB of storage is plenty enough, and has a built-in clip.
Cons: No video playback, minimal use for a touch screen which is harder to use than original clickwheel. No camera, notes, speaker, games, alarm clock. Almost too small to enjoy.
Summary: While boasting a cooler design and cutting the already miniscule weight in half or more, the new Nano loses almost all the features we loved about the previous Nanos, making ...

Don't you agree Apple can make the best, and the worst.
by digitalfitness on November 1, 2010
Pros: Small, Attractive, Great Volume, Apple Name and Reputation.
Cons: Display timeout is not adjustable, very inconvenient, you have to unlock the screen pretty much to do anything.
Touch screen makes it necessary to look at screen to operate. You have to stop moving if you are exercising.Summary: 1. For a music device that you may operate when it is in your pocket, touch screen is impossible.

2. For running the size in awesome but having to stop just to hit a button is too difficult.
3. I purchased a remote from Scosche which essential has just given me back the physical buttons. The remote is another thing to hold on to. I am checking out the remotes that are attached to the headphone cable, that might do if for me. Otherwise, I am going Sandisk or Ipod 5th Gen.
4. If you don't need the physical buttons this thing is super cool and super light.1 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Flawed Design
by Topher0006 on October 28, 2010
Pros: Small, integrated clip, touch screen interface, memory.
Cons: Not durable! I've been through three of these in a month. Get a little sweat on it and the screen gives up the ghost. The buttons are on the wrong side if you're right handed. Have to unclip it every time to advance songs.
Summary: Do NOT buy this to run with until the design flaws are fixed.

Summary: I got this for the gym, and i have to say, it's exactly as advertised. It's small, holds some music, and clips to your shirt. No frills, but for the gym, frills are not exactly what I need. I love being able to just clip it on my shirt and start running. I never have to worry about dropping it, like i did when I was using my iPhone as my workout music source.

Best Purchase EVER!!

Summary: I have had the worst mp3 player experiences you could imagine, so much so that I could write a tell-all book and ppl will actually read it and feel bad for me. I never wanted to buy an ipod because I always thought they cost too much so I didn't.
Christmas 2011 I told my sister santa what I wanted so she paid for it, because I still think they cost too much. It was the best thing ever. I thought the small size would be a problem but its not. I take it to the gym, clip it inside my workout shirt on my sports bra and get going, when off to school on the metro I clip it whatever, my pocket, my jacket, my cross body bag strap, whatever and it never gets in the way. I never have to pull it out of a pocket to change the song, I don't even have to look at it to change the song, js click sleep and press the screen where I know the "next" button is.
The only con i guess would be the equalizer, it is so hard to find one that works well for ALL Songs without having to switch it or maybe it could be my abuse of headphones, IDk either way i dislike that. Otherwise it is a great purchase, especially since I did not pay for it.
I must say 8GB is not enough, I though it would be, but its not so get a 16GB. When you think about albums and albums of songs that space goes so I have had to do some strategically choosing of songs from certain albums but that's ok.
I do not use any other feature on the things as I hate music players with all this other stuff besides music so I cannot comment on anything else. The battery life is superb. two days without a charge and I take it every morning with me to work or school and tot he gym so that's pretty impressive.
The connection to my macbook is easy as pie so no complaints at all there. I truly love thing, truly and if you are looking for a snazzy hide-away music player that will not get in your way and function very well then this is your item. . . -

Too small for it's own good
by dvorak204 on March 22, 2012
Pros: Makes for a pretty cool wristwatch.
Cons: No click wheel, have to look at device or yank the headphones out to turn it off.

Summary: Got this thing as a replacement for the first gen exchange program. While excited at first to have a neat new gadget, that excitement quickly changed to disappointment. I thought that it would be the most functional wristwatch ever, but need 2 hands to check the time. Screen was set to wake up to the clock, but didn't, so I have to swipe backwards to the clock; Not good when I'm checking a stopwatch in the middle of a run.
Before getting the wristband, I fumbled and dropped the thing a number of times. No camera, no video support, a real step backward compared to the 5g.
When I just it the music on and go, it's a charm, but hitting pause, feeling for the sleep switch/volume, seems very involved, and cumbersome. Sometimes a device can be too small for it's own good.
