Apple iPod Nano 2011 (8GB, orange) price range: $139.00

The good: The iPod Nano costs less than before, is easier to navigate, and includes more Nike Plus fitness tracking capabilities. It's also still the best clip-on music player money can buy.
The bad: Many features have disappeared over the years, including video playback, camcorder, microphone, speaker, games, calendar, contacts, notes, and alarm clock. The touch-screen interface is overkill, requiring more attention than the time-tested click wheel design without delivering many practical benefits.
The bottom line: The sixth generation of the iPod Nano is the smallest yet, but it comes at the expense of valuable features and practical controls.

DESIGNED TO ABSORB SWEAT!!!
by ondvergeof on September 22, 2010
Pros: supports product red
Cons: poor design; mine stopped working after four days of using it at the gym as it was diagnosed by a genius to have been "water damaged" when the dock connector is designed to be upside down when clipped on your left collar...DESIGNED TO ABSORB SWEAT!!!
Summary: I'm stuck with a defective item that Apple refuses to take responsibility for, stating it was my fault it got water in it...so unless Apple had a disclaimer ...
Summary: I'm stuck with a defective item that Apple refuses to take responsibility for, stating it was my fault it got water in it...so unless Apple had a disclaimer for users not to use this 6th generation nano when running/working out or to not clip it on your left collar as it would it is DESIGNED TO ABSORB SWEAT that later on would be diagnosed as "water damaged" since probably a drop of sweat went through the doc connector, I don't think I should be left with a $149 piece of crap!

Summary: Overall, the ipod nano 6g loses a lot of features from the 5g but this one is completely focused on music. Its sound quality is good too. Some cons are no games and no bluetooth but I don“t think a lot of users will miss that. Also, Apple could also use it as a wireless controller for the iphone like the Sony ericson live view.

Great, it all depends on your necessities.
by CarlitosNota on November 23, 2010
Pros: Small, easy to change the song, is not like an ipod touch that you have to unlock it every time. User friendly, great volume, and it goes directly to what it supposed to do PLAY MUSIC.
Cons: I have not found anything bad. I think not all cons apply for all people. It depends the way that you use it. For me is perfect, just what I wanted.
Summary: I like the new iPod Nano because is little, easy to use. I have the iPod Nano 1st gen, Ipod touch 3rd gen and I wanted something a little bit ...

The tactical problems are marginal.
by Trevor Colley on December 13, 2010
Pros: So what if it's a big shuffle. It serves it's purpose: playing music. I would gladly trade features for a manageable size.
Cons: The firmware for video would have been incredibly easy to include. I have no idea why Apple didn't do it. And, as with all Apple products, the price is higher than would constitute its utility. You're paying for a lot of intangibles.

Back to the drawing board.
by Kemikai_Ali on October 6, 2010
Pros: Connection with the iTunes library, great sound, FM radio with pause is a good add on, optional Nike+ fitness system.
Cons: The new controls are harder if not impossible to use for people for people with big fingers, loss of video capture, and loss of video playback, speaker.

Summary: While the new iPod Nano still has the great backings of an iPod, with things like iTunes syncing, and Nike+ fitness system. The new control system are not the most enjoyable user interface out there. I would recommend going for the previous iPod nano instead, or the SanDisk Sansa Clip plus.

Fun to play with and looks great
by eddydavik on September 13, 2010
Pros: light and compact, easy to navigate touch-screen (even for large hands like mine), improved sound quality over similar sized shuffle and is a great wrist watch.
Cons: No voice recording functionality. Timer is only heard with headphones. No option for additional nano-sized apps. No video functionality. Shake-to-Shuffle does not work when the screen is off.

Summary: I have enjoyed my 6G nano. It's clock functionality and size makes this a great wrist watch with the appropriate watch band. Wearing the nano as a watch has also made functioning the iPod a lot easier, especially as there is a lack of button necessity for the device (no pushing, just tapping and swiping). It has also been a fun and easy way to share photos without having to lug around another device, or a larger iPod.
Having voice recording capabilities, video playback or even options for nano-sized apps would add to the appeal of the device, but overall it does what I want and a little more.
The Apple 6G iPod Nano is a cutting-edge device for tech lovers and geeks everywhere, as well as for those who like to see the music they're listening to without lugging around a large screen device.2 out of 3 users found this user opinion helpful.

My First Nano and Loving It! Only Guy In North America!
by Lawrence Lee on November 15, 2010
Pros: Elegant Design, Great Capacity, Audio Announcements of song, playlist, Solid construction, Long Battery life, Nice color screen, Ability to rearrange icons, turn screen
Cons: Not supplied with controls on headphones. No tactile buttons for changing song. Almost too tiny
Summary: I must be the only guy in North America who actually enjoys the new design.

Have the iPhone and love the similarities. Never had a iPod before so I don't miss the features. I was never enthralled by the click wheel either.
I use it at the gym and cycling practically every day. I haven't had any sweat problems and I where it around my neck using the rubber band only (only no dock connector) from the "Dock Strap" running under the clip. Added the Logitech/Ultimate Ears shuffle control cord to my Denon AH-C360 headphones.
Sonic (near) Perfection. Sorry folks but I think there is no other player I'd rather have.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

A significant step down from the 5G
by AppleFan2958 on December 10, 2010
Pros: Touch screen is cool.
Watch feature is cool.Cons: Took off the camera, which Apple made a very big deal about with the release of the 5G.
Touch screen is small and very difficult to use.
No Video playback.
Could be too small.Summary: Of all the Apple 2010 releases, this is by far the worst. I am disappointed with this iPod, it is an abysmal attempt to combine an iPod Shuffle with an ...

frustrating and disappointing
by DrDaddio on November 21, 2010
Pros: small package.
Cons: poor headphones. CAN'T TURN IT OFF! Drains power in a few short hours. Go to the Apple forums and you'll see TONS of people complaining about this. Piece of junk. Returning mine today.
Summary: Junk - don't buy. Get a SanDisk instead, it's cheaper and works.
