The good: Apple's iPod Touch comes with a new color, a new price, and feature-packed OS. It records HD video, chats over video or iMessages, checks your e-mail, keeps your appointments, connects to the cloud, rents movies, plays music, takes pictures, and plays more games than any of its competitors.
The bad: Photo quality doesn't hold up to the iPhone 4's; there's no GPS, and no option for 3G data service.
The bottom line: The iPod Touch is the best iPod yet, offering all the fun of the iPhone experience without a carrier contract or monthly bill.

The future in the palm of your hand - seriously!
by nickphotoguy on October 19, 2011
Pros: Great, polished apps. Does probably at leas 75% of what an average computer user would do on a computer, on a device about the size of a computer mouse.
Clean lines, great screen, easy to use - no real learning curve. With iOS5 you don't even a computerCons: Suppose they could have put in the same dual core A5 chip as in the iPad and iPhone 4S.

Summary: More than an MP3 or video player it's a pocket computer in the way PalmOS and PocketPC could only dream of back in the day (and I had both!) Keep in mind the specs on this little gem of a computer beat out the specs on the computers (Which took up entire rooms) that sent the Apollo astronauts to the moon on a device thiner than a deck of cards.
Perfect for those who want a smart phone without paying for an expensive data plan or just don't make enough calls to justify paying almost $80 a month.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

Summary: Everyone is always saying that the Apple iPad is a larger version of the Apple iPod Touch, but this mini pocket MP3/Mini Computer does everything except for have its own mobile data plan, and if it did it would be called an "iPhone".
It's been a few months since I purchased my iPod Touch 64gb and my excitement has waned since due to the battery life. And since the IOS 5 update, my iPod Touch shuts off on its own. Other than that MAJOR issue, my music library is fits perfectly here and once the bugs are fixed, I'll go back to loving iPod Touch completely.
Apple always feels as if they need to expound and never rest on their laurels but asides for making an iPod Touch with more storage space and a larger viewing screen, this concept is brilliant. I seen nothing wrong with the camera shots. If people want professional looking photos, buy a real camera.

Updated on Mar 16, 2012Nearly Seven months into my ownership of this device, my love for the latest iPod Touch, the love affair has waned considerably. First of all the battery life for this device is extremely weak and the camera, very poor. I got this device due to my enormous music collection, but continuous usage on this device can drain your battery. And like many her lately have been complaining about the machine shutting down on them I am glad to a sense it was just me experiencing these weird problems but going through Apple's troubleshooting boards, this device has been ill designed for software it uses. I've reset this machine twice, and it seemed to make matters worse. Until they get it right, this might be my last iPod Touch purchase. And with all the money I've shelled out to Apple (Apple iPod 3rd and 5th Gens, Apple iPod Touch 2 and latest Gen, Apple iPad 2 and the Apple iPhone 4S and of all these Apple devices, this the only device that I have been truly been disappointed in.2 out of 2 users found this user opinion helpful.

iPod Touch simply sets the standard
by zapatasghost on July 28, 2011
Pros: Where to start? Feels good in your hand. User interface is awesome. Features make this WAY more than an MP3 player - much more of a mini-computer complete with wi-fi and all of the Apple-icious perks therein. Apps are generally spectacular - FaceTime, Saf
Cons: Hard to think of cons. Uhh...doesn't do your laundry and change the oil on your car??

Summary: This new iPod touch is a great addition to the apple family. The 64G 4th Generation iPod touch comes loaded with additional features in comparison to the older generations. This iPod is given a new look. It is very thin and boosts a Retina Display screen, which leads to great quality on the apps and video. Apple smartly equipped this machine with two cameras; on in the back and one on the front for face time. The cameras don't have great quality but still enhance the product. Another pro is that it is an apple device and has access to apple app store on iTunes where I easily download many apps. A problem with this iPod is that it is not very durable because of the delicate parts and thin design. Apple makes this product easy to use and especially great for connecting to iTunes. Apple does not however include a wall socket charger for the iPod, so unless you bring your computer everywhere you'll need to buy one. This would be the best choice in comparison to other products because of all the features and it's an apple product. I've had my 64G Tough for about 2 months and have experience no major problems. I would recommend this product who likes music and the ability for games in one pack. Its about 400$.

What's that in your pocket? Or do you own a Touch?
by stevenagel on September 21, 2010
Pros: The iPod is gradually replacing my wallet. Soon I will get rid of back pockets in my jeans altogether. Reading, researching, shopping, corresponding, soon paying, checking out books at the library, checking in at the Y. Done.
Cons: The camera is a con. Apple decided that FaceTime was too important to their gaols (I mean goals) to give us a good'nuf camera.
Summary: How come nobody else wants to compete with the Touch? A fast web connection with 3G (ala Kindle) and maybe a dozen well designed essential apps. And a good price. ...

Cons: It's backside scratches easy, and it's hard to jailbreak sometimes.

The bes part of the 4g ipod touch? Everything.
by ctgordon on September 27, 2010
Pros: The interface is very easy to learn and accomodates a lot.
Battery life is great.
So much to choose from to put on your iPod, including apps, games, etc.Cons: While the camera isn't high-enough quality to get rid of your main digital camera, it's just a plus but it could be improved.
The back scratches easily.Summary: This isn't the greatest iPod touch yet, it's the greatest iPod yet. While it may take some getting used to for some, learning everything comes easy enough and ...
Summary: This isn't the greatest iPod touch yet, it's the greatest iPod yet. While it may take some getting used to for some, learning everything comes easy enough and the 4g touch does so much, including easily accessing the internet, play your music collection, letting you play the most fun and new apps and downloading apps that can help you do a heck of a lot, too. I recommend this product to EVERYONE.

Absolutely, undeniably the best.
by EvanSei on September 12, 2010
Pros: This is an amazing player simple as that, there is no MP3 player that even comes close to comparing to it. But if I had to choose one feature that stands above the rest it would be the screen. The "retina display" is simply amazing.
Cons: The only real con's about this device is the fact that apple still uses the same polished back, which catches finger prints and scratches easily. Also a con is the Lower quality camera on the back though that is only a minor problem.
Summary: Nothing beats it, if you want the best of the best this is what you get.

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: MC547LL/A
- Description: iPod touch has an all-new design that makes it the thinnest, lightest, most amazing iPod touch ever. Holding one is all the proof you need. With its curved design, iPod touch is now a mere 7.2 millimeters thin. Its engineered glass front and stainless steel back feel sleek and smooth in your hand. Turn it on, and you're instantly blown away by the brilliant Retina display. iPod touch is the perfect combination of stunning design and revolutionary technology - brilliant from the outside in. There are lots of reasons you won't want to take your eyes off the iPod touch. The 960-by-640 backlit LCD display, for one. It packs 326 pixels per inch, making it the highest-resolution iPod screen ever. To achieve this, Apple engineers developed pixels so small - a mere 78 micrometers across - that the human eye can't distinguish individual pixels. Even though you can't see them, you'll definitely notice the difference. Text is remarkably sharp and graphics are incredibly vivid. The Apple A4 chip is behind, or rather underneath, all the fun you can have on iPod touch. Apple engineers designed the A4 chip to be a remarkably powerful yet remarkably power-efficient mobile processor. With it, iPod touch can easily perform complex jobs such as multitasking, editing video, and placing FaceTime calls. All while maximizing battery life. And fun. iPod touch just learned some new moves. It includes a built-in three-axis gyroscope. When paired with the accelerometer, the gyro makes iPod touch capable of advanced motion sensing such as user acceleration, full 3D attitude, and rotation rate. Translation: More motion gestures and greater precision for an even better gaming experience. iPod touch captures video with two built-in cameras. It shoots amazing HD 720p video from the back camera. And with its advanced backside illumination sensor, it captures beautiful footage even in low-light settings. All while the built-in microphone records conversations, music, or any audio at the same time. And on the front of iPod touch, the built-in camera is perfect for making FaceTime calls and shooting self-portraits. It's surprising how much fun can fit into something so small. When you put your finger on iPod touch, how does it just start doing what you want it to do? It's a chain reaction, really. The Multi-Touch display layers a protective shield over a capacitive panel that senses your touch using electrical fields. It then transmits that information to the Retina display below it. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flick through photos and enlarge them with a pinch, zoom in and out on a section of a web page, and control game elements precisely. FaceTime on iPod touch lets you hang out, catch up, and goof off with friends in an entirely new way. With just a tap, you can see what your friends are up to - literally. Witness a prank in action. Or watch your friend on the other side of the country crack up at your stories from last night - iPod touch to iPod touch or iPhone 4 over Wi-Fi. And all you need to get started is an Apple ID and an email account. You can choose an email account you already have or, if you prefer, set up a new one. You'll never see fun the same way again.
