Apple iPod Touch (5th generation, 32GB, black) price range: $284.98 - $301.29

The good: The 2012 fifth-generation iPod Touch has an excellent set of features: better front and back cameras, 1080p video recording, iOS 6, and a 4-inch Retina Display just like on the iPhone 5, in a design even thinner than the iPhone.
The bad: The iPhone 5 still beats it on performance. The Touch lacks any phone functions, and there are tablet competitors that beat the $299 Touch on price and screen size.
The bottom line: The latest iPod Touch is the best iPod ever, and as close to a phoneless iPhone 5 as you can get -- but its high price makes it a tough call versus cheaper tablets with larger screens.

Everything I expected plus more
by B00gs on October 31, 2012
Pros: Added MO+ app which turn the itouch into a awesome internet phone(free), and will soon bee picking up FreedomPop which gives me 3/4G data for FREE. Retina display is VERY crisp. Great in gaming, super light, sturdy, leather strap,750,000 apps
Cons: Price is high for me but u get what you pay for.

Summary: I love this new touch. I was never a touch gamer but I am now. The processor has plenty of zing and flipping through pages and apps is seamless. This thing is so light that you will forget that you even have it on you. The metal finish is sexy and strong and takes a lickin'. The movies look sweet at 16/9 so you have nothing chopped or crammed. Display is easy on the eyes compared to previous versions(my previous was a 2nd gen). I was so impressed with this generation that I went back a week later and bought another for my son. I was really impressed with the camera and the options that come with it. Thanks Apple

As close to the I-phone 5 without the phone!
by karaoke008 on October 15, 2012
Pros: All the benefits of the i-phone (less phone, faster processor, and better camera) without a contract.
Cons: the price of $299 for 32GB is not cheap.

Summary: I was pleasantly surprised with the new iPod Touch 5th generation. As I am a big technology fanatic I usually test things out and get my first impressions of them around the time the particular item is launched so that I have a good idea of what needs worked out etc. This I had a few little cons with but it's a pretty much perfect device.
When I had actually owned the Touch4, I realized that the camera was just OK. It was good on the front for Face-Time and looked about the same when in comparison to my old iPhone 4S, but when you look at camera pictures in comparison you really see how grainy the iP4 took pictures. It was OK for something of the amount of megapixels the device had on it, but they could have done better. This iPod fixes that. It has a small bit of glare on the pictures, but it's an iPod, not a camera so it's not worth taking off some points for.
Likes/comparison:
I really like the screen on the new iPod Touch. I also liked that they integrated SIRI into this iPod. I had hoped that 6.1.3 for iP4 would see a release of SIRI, but it never came out unfortunately. The speed is also 10x better than the iP4's speed. It runs pretty good.
The sound quality is better. The iPod touch 4 always had a slightly "tinny" sound to the music or audio that was played. This doesn't.
Cons:
You do have to move to a newer docking port, with Apple's new lighting cable which does work for charging faster, but it does make all of us who had original docks/ Ihomes and chargers have to get new accessories. So that's a bummer--
Price-tag is something to take into consideration. When I got my iP4 it was 295 for a 32GB. This one I believe was at least 100$ more for something that only has a couple new features at the same store I got the first iPod 4 at.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Overall:
I believe there is no perfect phone or iPod out there. Each device is going to have a flaw, but if there was one close, it would be this device. If they (meaning Apple) worked out the price then I'd be compelled to actually buy one (used my GF'S) but for now I'll stick with my DROID RAZR, which is also close to perfect. I don't understand the rivalry between devices though, you either like one or you don't. It's not once you go Android you can't go back, etc. as I've had iPhones, WM phones, and Palm Phones Android's too in that mix, and they've all been respectively good phones and devices. I can't say that there was one that was my absolute favorite.
Overall PT.2: I do believe that this is the best iPod touch yet, but there are still a couple little things I'd like to see done such as price dropping (as some people might not be able to afford it) and I'd like a 3G version kinda deal like they did with the iPads. -
Great product that you can do anything on.

This is the Ipod touch 5th generation its a bit like a computer. One of apple's best creations! On the ipod touch you can do all kinds of things like go on your email, play games, imessage friends etc.
I love this product so much but there's some things that they can improve on!
I think more children than adults are interested in the ipod because its a way to communicate to friends and family.
Some things that bug me about the Ipod 5 is that you can't get all the games that you might want(mario).
Also it bugs me how its very easy for it to die and break.
I love how the Ipod touch charges fast and is very light.
One thing that I find hard to do with other systems is to catch on quick about how to use it.
I love how you have so much control over the game you're playing I also love how you can listen to music while playing a game.
I love how the ipod 5 has serie,a colour, a bigger better screen etc compared to the ipod touch 4th generation.
The things that I don't like about the ipod touch is tiny things and thats why I would rate it a 4.5 of 5.

Summary: this device is great a great alternative for the iPhone 5 for those who prefer only for media consumption rather than text and calls, it is almost identical with the 5 with the exception of cellular capabilities...although there is no ambient light sensor for power saving I just rarely use it in my 4th-gen iPod...

Specifications
- Manufacturer: Apple
- Part number: CNETATOUCH12
- Description: There's thin and light. Then there's thin and light on a whole new level. iPod touch now has a superthin aluminum body that feels barely there in your hand or pocket. It comes in colors so fun, it's impossible to choose just one (but you'll have to). With brand-new Apple EarPods, iPod touch sounds as good as it looks. And the iPod touch loop makes it all even more un-put-downable. More screen means, well, more of everything. More music, messages, and websites. When it's game time, your fingers will have more room to rule. And all of your stuff looks stunning on the Retina display. Picture your life and all its big, small, and everything-in-between moments with a 5-megapixel iSight camera that also shoots 1080p HD video. The new panorama feature lets you capture your whole wide world. Advanced optics, tap to focus, an LED flash, and face detection give iPod touch serious point-and-shoot skills. And the iPod touch loop keeps it all close at hand. iOS 6 is packed with over 200 new features to make the things you do every day even easier. Facebook integration makes everything more Like-able. With Shared Photo Streams, you can share just the photos you want with just the people you choose. And Siri comes to iPod touch, ready to answer your questions about life, sushi, and last night's triple overtime.
