Creative Zen Micro Photo (8GB, pink) price range: $288.95

The good: The Creative Zen Micro Photo features a bright, colorful OLED that's viewable from any angle, and it's available in a choice of 10 body colors. This MP3 player also includes useful extra features such as a user-replaceable battery, a voice recorder, a photo viewer, an FM tuner, and an onboard calendar and task manager that syncs with Microsoft Outlook. The Zen Micro Photo is also out-of-the-box compatible with Janus (Windows Media DRM 10) and offers excellent sound quality.
The bad: Unfortunately, the Creative Zen Micro Photo doesn't let you listen to music and browse photos simultaneously, and album art is not supported at this time. The touch pad on this device can take some getting used to.
The bottom line: The Creative Zen Micro Photo is an excellent full-featured MP3 player and, for its size, a decent photo viewer; it just doesn't combine the two effectively.

Summary: This is a little more for nostalgia than anything but I want to post a review for my little Creative MP3 player. I bought it back in 2005. It's 2011 and I just gave it to my 7 year old daughter that has been running it through the paces with Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. After about 4 years of use I retired it and got a 120GB Zune and an iPod Touch and it went into a drawer for two years. I pulled it out earlier this week, formatted it, plugged it in, loaded up music, and it's been working like a champ (and running about 6-8 hours a day). It sounds as good today as when I bought it 6 years ago. What an incredible little player!!!!

Summary: I have been looking and reading professional reviews as well as consumer reviews for months...having a hard time trying to decide among a few mp3 players: namely Zen vision M; Zen photo sleek, Toshiba gigabeat S series, Phillips gogear 20gb, and a flash memory Sandisk Sansa e200 series 4gb and a Samsung 4gb.
The deciding factors in buying the Zen micro photo 8 gb are of course:
1. Replaceable battery ....huge factor for me(down the road for non-replaceable battery one can easily spend over $100 on a new battery, labor charge, 2 way shipping cost etc... do the math there...plus you will be out without your mood slave driver for months)...
2. The features are fantastic.
3. The body is solid, well designed, feels good in your hand, and snug in your pocket.
4. Fast usb transfer: It took only two and half hours to transfer 1850 songs from my computer collection, thats about 4gb. Lots of GB left for fun...
5. The controls needs some practicing...and thats part of learning a new gadget...no problem though....easier than my TV remote control. Its fun actually.
6. It looks much better in concrete form than from the internet images.
7. The screen is OLED which is better than LED in my opinion. With OLED you can view pictures from any angle.
8. Bottom line: its all about the quality of audio, thats what mp3's are for, and this little guy possessed unsurpassed audio quality. -

Would have been great if they provided a AC charger. I purchased 3 AC charges on Ebay but none of them worked. I had to buy a Creative AC charger which costed me another 30 bucks.

It's thicker which some people say is a negative thing, but after seeing a bucket of nano's snapped in half, I'm postive that it's better this way. It's the perfect little player for me.

Summary: When it comes to portable digital audio devices, two features reign above the rest: (1) sound quality and (2) ease of use. The Zen Micro Photo excels at the former but not with the latter. Even the new, reduced sensitivity of the vertical slider leaves it way too sensitive: a slight move of the thumb takes you away from where you want to be to unwanted territory. Comparing this with the top-notch Clickwheel iPod offers makes one realize why the Clickwheel is inimitable. Still, once you do succeed in navigating your way, the Zen does its job well both in the music and photo departments and OLED is very nice indeed!

Still CREATIVE is a great company than Apple and Sony. I would not reccommend Ipods for windows user. People who doesn't care about the size can buy this. It's your decision not mine. I would reccommend Creative Zen Vision: M.

Summary: I have to admit that I don't own this 8 GB model but I did own the 6 GB, so I think my comments basically apply. Lets start with the quality issue which maybe was fixed. About a couple weeks after I bought my Zen, I started hearing crackling and drop outs on the earphones. These got worse as time went on and when I moved the wire. When I went to a user forum I was surprised that many others had posted about the same problem. I also had problems with the software, and I run the latest version of XP Pro which has no other problems. So now this next issue definitely applies. I called Creative Customer service, and that is where the adventure began. First of all THEY DON"T HAVE A TOLL FREE SUPPORT NUMBER. I think this is a sure sign that they don't want to help you with your problems. Worse, when I called, I was on hold for quite a long time. Luckily, I had plenty of cell phone minutes. This is really a terrible to treat customers. I don't mind waiting on hold if the call is toll free, but if it isn't, that really sucks!! In this day and age where every other consumer electronics company uses toll free customer support lines, Creative is way behind on this one. When I finally got them to take care of the problem under warranty, I sold this POS to some sucker on eBay who thinks Creative makes great products. I think that the way the company deals with customers is as important as the product, so Creative has lost me for good. Since they don't have a toll free support number, they either think that their products are so well made that they never have problems (Wrong), they think that their software is bug free (wrong again), or they just don't want to talk to you and hear about your problems (probably the case). Before you buy one of these, I suggest that you try to call customer support (using your free cell phone minutes of course) and see how long it takes to reach someone. I don't know how good they telephone support is, but at least Apple and the others have toll free numbers. Next problem, these players look kinda cheap in real life. Yeah, I know that everyone whines about how iPods scratch and how everyone has one, but they sure look as good in real life as they do in print. This is simply not the case with the Creative Zen. The plastic has a cheap dull looking finish.
