The good: The SanDisk Sansa Clip Zip is an audio Swiss Army Knife that plays most audio formats, works with audiobook and subscription music services, can be used as a voice recorder, and tunes in to FM radio--all for under $50.
The bad: You get what you pay for in terms of construction quality.
The bottom line: SanDisk's tongue-twister of an MP3 player is a stupefying value and its practical clip-on design is perfect for the gym.

Zip + Rockbox = Audiophile Nirvana
by ultrabike on March 26, 2012
Pros: Same Clip+ audio chip (http://nwavguy.blogspot.com/2011/02/sansa-clip-measured.html)
Rockbox Super FW: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/SansaClip (games)
Audio Format support: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SanDisk_Sansa
Seemless support for 32GB microSDCons: It can get stuck. Press the top bottom and hold for > 10s and the system will reset (audio files will not be deleted)
Summary: Incredible bargain as a dedicated portable audio device.

You get what you pay for.
by diverrn on December 20, 2012
Pros: I LOVE all the features, the size, the ease of use. One of my favorite features that I can't find on similar products is the ability to record radio.
Cons: We have gone through 4 of the Sansa MP3 players, each one died from a different problem. Some had quirks I learned to live with: locks up when adjusting volume in radio, headphone jack positional, but then they all become unusable!
Summary: Construction is shoddy, won't last through the year. I'm switching to another brand even though it means I have to give up some features.

Light, great sound, inexpensive
by PEACEMONSTER on December 19, 2012
Pros: Better sound than just about all the mp3 players out there
Super portable. Excellent for the weight room
Really good feature set
Really inexpensive
Decent headphonesCons: Construction is sub par. Software freezes from time to time

Summary: This the best option right now for people looking for an mp3 player for the gym or jogging. It is super light. The sound quality is excellent, better then any Apple products or any Android phone Ive listened to. The feature set is over the top. Radio, sd card slot, voice recorder. Really inexpensive especially for the features you get. Ok let me get to the down side.
The quality is not the best. I have owned 4 of these clips so far. In my experience only one of them lasted a little more then a year. The one that lasted the longest still works except for the fact the screen is dead lol. If you are looking for a feature rich great sounding mp3 player that is portable but has a life span of approximately 9 to 12 moths then this is your baby. I strongly recommend getting the warranty on this one, your most likely are going to need it. However for the price online for under 35.00 dollars I would buy it again. There isn't anything else out there that is ultra portable and sounds as good. Just make sure to back up your music or use and micro sd card.1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

GREAT sounding product for the price.
by _nioshy_ on December 19, 2012
Pros: Great sound quality for the price
Great versatilityCons: Lack support of online services like Spotify or Deezer. It wasn't really an issue when the first Sansas came around, but it really starts to be one now, with changes in music consumption

Summary: Great MP3 player for the price. It is just straight to the point: not really fancy but plays almost any music format and with GREAT quality. It basically sounds 3 times better than my iPhone 4.
One should obviously not compare it to high-end products given the price tag, but it still sounds better than the last iPods, iPhones, and any other smartphone and MP3 player below $200 I tried. You of course have to get rid of the ear-buds that comes with it though (just like any other MP3 player anyway). I just miss the support for services like Spotify...1 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.

Best MP3 player currently available.
by jakerson9 on November 15, 2012
Pros: The best qualities are that it is small, lightweight, expandable via micro-SD card, fm radio, easy navigation, easy file manipulation, long battery life, multiple file types... everything I could want...
Cons: doesn't connect to the apple-universe. NOT really a negative for me.
Summary: If you haven't gotten an i-pod type mp3 player, and don't have any interest in contributing to Apple, this is the best MP3 player, by far. Ive had ...

Love My Sansa Clip Zip ... And The Last 4 Too
by HppyLady on April 27, 2013
Pros: Excellent sound, features, size and portability. It is Audible ready. Holds many audiobooks and manages books in mp3 too. It is light and comes with an armband for use during dog walking, or whatever your favorite activity.
Cons: While the Sansa Clips I have used did survive quite a bit of abuse they didn't last very long. I have had the power button stop working, the headphone connection loosen up, and sudden, inexplicable inability to be recognized by the computer.

Summary: The Sansa Clip Zip has excellent sound, features, size and portability. My primary use is to play audiobooks and I need a player that is Audible ready and will manage books in mp3 too. With an 8G uSD card plus 4G internal memory, I can load many audiobooks - 10 to 15 is typical (just checked and I have more like 20 to 25 books loaded right now.) The Clip will accommodate podcasts too.
It is very light and comes with an armband for use during dog walking, or whatever your favorite activity. This latest model has a sturdier clip which is quite good.
While the 5 or 6 Sansa Clips I have used did survive quite a bit of abuse (drops, rain, drops, snow, pet hair, drops, etc.) none lasted particularly long. I think the longest I have had one work well was probably 18 mos or 2 years. I have had the power button stop working, the headphone connection loosen up, and sudden, inexplicable inability to be recognized by the computer.
Even though it is not the most durable mp3 player in the world, I still think it is the best value for the money. I got my most recent one at Best Buy on sale for around $35. I think I can buy a few ipods for that amount! All-in-all I love my Sansa Clip Zip! -

Good for the basics

Summary: I originally purchased the 8GB version just for gym use, but after realizing I could fit my entire music library using the combination of internal storage and another microSD card, this is my only MP3 player.
The occasional problems turning itself off or refusing to turn on are totally unpredictable--doesn't seem to be a pattern that causes them. Holding down the power button for 45-60 seconds and then pressing to turn on has always rectified the problem, but it's annoying.
I have a lot of orchestral music that has long names for tracks and composers/ensembles. These titles alternate scrolling across the screen, however the scrolling never lasts long enough to see the entire name. I've had to rename or change the order of how I name in order to see the info I want at a glance. -
good sound, good price but they do fall apart FAST
by angela_g on February 17, 2013
Pros: good sound, good price
Cons: Shoddy build. Start having issues and falling apart pretty soon after purchase, but at least they fall apart while still within 12-month warranty.

I think it's awful

Pros: Super cheap, expandable, some good reviews
Cons: Build quality is uber-cheap.
It was dead in an hour, glitchy performance..... a waste of time
Software is also cheesy...Summary: A good price for an inferior product is always too high. Please look elsewhere. I will have to spend a few more dollars to get something that works...The bad ...
