Does Not Work, THREE TIMES OVER

Pros: Price at Costco was extremely cheap. $99 out the door. Easy Setup.
Cons: The printer pushes previous pages off paper tray and onto the floor. The ADF (automatic document feeder) picks up every page at once when scanning or faxing, instead of one page at a time.

Summary: I contacted Brother support to get the machine replaced due to the issues with my original machine. Support was extremely helpful and overnighted a new machine and was *supposed* to include a return shipping label to return the previous machine. They did not. To top it off, the new machine still did not work. The document feeder still picks up multiple pages at once. So, they sent me another machine, again without a return label. The new machine has no LCD display....as in whoever built the machine forgot it. There is a clear plastic window where it is supposed to be, and I can see about two inches down to a circuit board inside. Now, customer support has suddenly become rude and does not appear to want to fix the problem. For three days now, they keep telling me someone will call me back within a couple hours, and nobody ever calls. I will certainly avoid all Brother products from now on, and I would advise all potential customers the same.

Summary: I purchased this a 6 months ago for light duty fax work, and it has worked reasonably well: out of 1000 pages printed there were only 4 paper jams. However, yesterday it notified me that my toner cartridge was empty and I needed replacement cartridge (which I didn't have since there was no "low toner" warning). It would not function regardless of what I did even though it was printing just fine so there was in fact toner in the cartridge. I did the usual stuff-took the cartridge out, shook it, and put it back several times, but to no avail.
I called customer service and they said I had to get a new cartridge to get it working. Nothing else could be done! I was totally shut down. Clearly, this feature is there to force you to buy cartridges when you don't need them.
Furthermore, the original cartridge ran out at only 1012 pages (which I pulled off the maintenance sheet), so their claims about what you're buying appear to be false.
Why they couldn't just have a "low toner" and then let the customer decide when to replace the cartridge is beyone me.
