The good: The Brother MFC-J4510DW incorporates new technology including Web-connectivity features, cloud printing, a touch-screen interface, and a freshly-designed paper path that loads horizontally to accommodate longer sheets.
The bad: The printer ships with small reservoir "starter" ink cartridges and its 150-sheet paper capacity demands more frequent refills from busy offices.
The bottom line: The Brother MFC-J4510DW all-in-one printer leads with a stylishly compact chassis and its Web-connectivity rounds out an impressive list of useful features for small offices.

Summary: was looking for an AIO printer to replace my old Cannon and wanted a new printer to have a small footprint. I looked at Brother, Epson, HP and Cannon. The Brother fit all of my requirements and had the best touch screen display. The touchscreen feels like an iPhone and is very intuitive. The wireless setup was fast and easy and works flawlessly. I really don't understand why other people have trouble with the setup. They must not be reading the instructions. At first the photo quality was not quite up to what I experienced with my old Cannon printer. But with just a few adjustments to the settings and reading the instruction manual, I was able to produce a very vivid photograph of excellent quality. The 11 x 17 in print capability is very cool and I can see that coming in handy when I need to make a brochure or poster. As others have found, this printer can be a bit noisey, but all the other great things about this printer far over shadow the noise. Also, this printer does not do 2-sided scanning, which is available in the next model up. The printer looks great and I am sure enjoying all the extra space on my desk top that this printer is not taking up! Hats off to Brother for an excellent design! I cannot speak to reliability, but with a 2-year warranty from Brother plus and extra year from Staples, I think I'm well covered in case something happens

Summary: This printer will not feed and print correctly any type of envelopes because the it isn't compatible when MS Word and has internal feeding issues. The printer overrides MS Word's custom margins which are needed when printing envelopes. There is a rear manual feed that will not work with envelopes while the front paper tray autofeeder will produce envelope jams 100% of the time. When the paper jam (error) queue is on, there is no way to turn it off until you go through all of the clearing functions. The printer cannot tell whether the jam has been cleared. This is where the large footprint of the machine comes in because you will literally need an extra 12inches in front of the machine, and 8inches of space behind the machine when it is opened for servicing jams. Sure it looks like a compact printer but when it gives you trouble, you'll need to relocate the printer upon service. Also, at every paper jam, the machine cannot be turned off via the power button to clear the paper jam error queue but can only be manually unplugged to reset the queue.
Build quality is horrible. The machine is a rattle bucket and the entire body flexes like cheap plastic. I would not be surprised to see future complaints about the broken top/feeding scanning component as it is 4 pounds and only secured on by two flimsy plastic hinges. -
