Did Apple build this??
by Ken K on August 24, 2012
Pros: Sleek design, looks and feels like an Apple product. Wifi set-up was a little complicated, but once it was, this all-in-one rocks. I was able to print from my iPhone from my back yard, came into the house, and there was my print job waiting for me.
Cons: When printing using fast draft, the paper tray is too short. Some sheets slide off onto the floor. No problems in normal mode. Also, if you program it to shut off after two hours (not sleep mode), you have to turn it on manually to wake it up.
Summary: Love it. It feels VERY solid. It's surprisingly heavy, so either HP didn't skimp on hardware, or they installed a lead weight to make this unit feel impressively ...
Summary: Love it. It feels VERY solid. It's surprisingly heavy, so either HP didn't skimp on hardware, or they installed a lead weight to make this unit feel impressively built. And setting next to my iMac, it looks like Apple finally made a printer; the designs and materials are identical. It's also a very quiet printer, unlike my previous Lexmark which sounded like a garbage disposal.

High Quality & High Complexity Printer
by tRIKsterOR on April 8, 2012
Pros: High Quality printer with a solid engineered layout. Aluminum case provides the feel of a hi-end unit. WiFi printer application is very convenient. Photo prints are very color rich and smooth. Documents have sharp text and clean colors.
Cons: A bit expensive and initial set-up is not for the beginner. WiFi installation can be difficult until configured. Touchscreen is not super responsive though it works well if you take your time. . don't expect an iPHONE touch experience with this unit.
Summary: I'm an advanced user and got thru the set-up after about 30 minutes. Once set-up this unit rocks. As with all printers the ink can be quite a cost ...
Summary: I'm an advanced user and got thru the set-up after about 30 minutes. Once set-up this unit rocks. As with all printers the ink can be quite a cost adder but this is not unique to the HP Envy series. If you want a stylish, quality engineered printer and have some PC saavy this unit truly delivers on all fronts.

Good printer but poor Wifi / AirPrint implementation
by kamaku on December 27, 2011
Pros: . nicely built - does not have the cheap, insubstantial feel that most printers have these days
. good functionality - WHEN they are all working (see wifi / AirPrint cons)
. stylish appearance
.Cons: . don't expect wifi / AirPrint services to be easy to set up or stable.
. relatively slow scanning
. couldn't get eFax to work (printer failed to connect to the internet despite status indicator showing a good connection)Summary: A good printer but badly let down by poor wifi / AirPrint implementation. I have to keep rebooting my router to re-establish the printer's network connection.

The days of solid, bullet proof printers is long gone (my HP Laserjet 5 worked flawlessly for 10 years) and this is a good printer in today's market (I threw away my latest Epson after 6 months of continuous breakdowns and problems). However it still baffles me that HP cannot implement decent wireless printing functionality. Use the USB connection and this is a fine printer. Use the wireless printing services and be prepared for plenty of set up and stability problems. NOT a printer for technophobes.0 out of 1 users found this user opinion helpful.
