Summary: Out of the box setup was a breeze. Except for one " XP Blue Screen of Death fatal error" due to USB hangup.
The photo quality is excellent, something I expected from HP. I do like the additional 4x6 photo paper slot. The print speed is amazing! Really fast even in the highest print mode. During the printing process, I had to take a second look to make sure my photo's were printing! This printer is so quiet, it amazes me.
The wireless setup was a nice pleasent surprise. I was able to be up and wireless in minutes. Nothing out of the ordinary and even a novice can do it. Very staight forward with good insturctions included.
The scanner is quiet and is fast enough for the average home user. The output quality from scanning is about average.
The 3.6 LCD monitor is a nice feature and is lage enough to actually use.
My only criticism is the limited 8x11 document feeder. It is severely limited so if you do a large amount of printing at one shot, better keep some extra paper near by to feed this thing.
All in All, I'm glad I made the purchase.
Updated
I had my printer for a week and all of a sudden, not I get the "Blue Screen of Death" on the printers LCD monitor. Error codes that only a IT could love. I followed the Troubleshooting procedures outlined by HP's web site. I got it to work in the wireless mode again, but the USB connection is completely dead. Called HP and please don't get me wrong here.....but I really like to speak to someone I can understand. ie: English! No help what so ever. The last words that were spoken by the HP Tech Rep....."Take it back to where you got it!" This is not the type of support I've come to know from HP.
Needless to say I'm returning this unit back for another one. I'll write another User Opinion on that one if needed.

What a machine, Hp has done it again. If the ink yeild is good

Summary: The HP 3210 inkjet printer is great. What can I say, HP has done it again. This has got to be the number 1 machine for the workgroup environment. It does everything you could expect of a small office All-In-One and then some. Scan images can be a little slow, but were very good, even the 3D scan of a pair of swing shears looked great. The memory card slot reader worked just fine, it has a 2.5 inch built in screen on this machine and printing from this was also very easy. Now here?s the kicker this machine can be hooked up to a network. You can get a LAN/CAT5 cable plug right in back of the printer. The HP 3310 model also has wireless communications and both can have Bluetooth. The 3310 also has a built in fax machine. This is great communications support. All the above items (Fax, Scanner, Card Reader and Printer) can be shared over the network cable. The software install was a breeze. You unpack the printer remove all shipping material, install ink and network cable. The software scans the network for the printer. Once it fines the printer it starts the install. Now please be patient, this will take a while. This software installation needs 1.3GB of hard drive space. You get everything you need to use your system. Photo and Fax management ability. Everyone can use all the functions right from their desktop. When you do the install on your desktop all the functions of the device are installed specifically for your desktop environment (on one desktop the compact flash card may be drive E, on another computer it may be drive K). OCR software also comes with the machine. There is no one who even gets come to the software that HP is giving you. These machines also comes with a built in film and slide scanner, Duplexer for printing on both sides of the paper and Picture bridge for digital camera hook up. Hp has finally given in on the replacing the print head every time you change ink cartridge. This really drove up the cost of replacing ink ($24-$35), but gave you a perfect print every time. Just what does this mean to us the consumer? Cheaper ink replacement yes, but the machine does not last a long. People gets mad and just throw away the whole machine once they get the print head replacement cost ($50-$130). Epson and Canon has been doing this for a while now. After a number prints (maybe some where in the 1000s area) the head starts to wear out. This just what happen to my Canon i860 printer from Best Buy, I had insurance and the maintenance company decided to just replace the printer with Canon 6200 (this was not a deciding factor for the printer. I needed a second printer for my kids on another floor. I don?t know if this new HP ink will yield the same number of pages as my old 895cxi, if it does Canon and Epson watch out. Speed, this thing spits out paper like a big office copier. It is very fast. I could not get 32 pages per minutes. But it was very fast (closer to 17ppm on my 3 page resume with copies).
Now for the bad! After all that I?ve said above I still returned the printer for one main reason, photo output. After paying $400 plus tax for a machine and I walk up to a $72-$139 Epson with a card reader and screen and printed a picture from my camera card and the details were outstanding on the Epson. The details that this thing printed was like a photo lab. The main thing I use my printer at home for is photos. I can print text documents at work on my laser when I need it to be nice crisp text output. When the Epson R340 printed I could see hairs standing up on a person hands, not on the HP. The shadows under the eyes looked more real to life than HP?s muddy looking effect. The bottom paper tray looks to be quite flimsy. It may be tougher than what it looks like. But it did not seem like it would wear well. I was worried that I may bump it one time to hard and break it. The rest of the printer is built so well, to short the printer here just does not make since.
To sum it all up, if photo out up details from an inkjet printer is critical to you, than this is not the printer for you. Go with the Epson, neither Canon nor HP?s 6 ink printers can touch this machine from a walk up prospective.

Summary: I should have paid attention to the reviews in CNet. I like the printer - it has all the features you want in a AIO. When I printed, it was great quality, quiet and fast. The software to manage the printer from the computer is great. The displays on the printer perfect. However, I have returned two for the same problem - constant blue screen of death on the printer. The first printer showed an error during set-up but I thought it was a glitch. When it returned again and again, I called HP. Tech support read standard scrips to include is it turned on, is it plugged into a surge protector, etc. The tech could not even tell me what the error code displayed on the printer screen meant (gave them the code). I returned the printer (BestBuy was great). When I was picking up the replacement printer, a BestBuy employee said many of the 3310s have been returned for same problem. I returned the second printer and am still looking for a good AIO. If HP fixes this problem, I would buy the printer.

Summary: My family has owned HP printers since 1995. The first HP printer we owned, the 870 CSE was the best by far. That printer would fly, literally! The 3310 is the biggest piece of crap ever made. HP's Vivera ink system is terrible. The black smears horribly when even the oil from your skin touches it. Try licking your finger then sliding it over what you thought was black ink. To our surprise the black ink smears and looks blue. Any printer that smears this bad after the ink is supposedly dry sucks, period. Here's what HP's website claims: World's fastest photo printing All-in-One, money-saving individual inks. I have to laugh. I printed a 4 page document the other day and it took about 45 seconds before the printer even started printing the fist word of that. What fantasy land does HP think they're in? This should be called the world's slowest printer. I tried to copy a photo and it didn't make an exact duplicate. It zoomed in slightly and the ink also looked faded. If our bathrooms ran out of toilet paper as often as this piece of crap runs out of paper, we'd be screwed, and thats exactly what you'll be if you buy this piece of junk. Also 2 of the ink cartridges that came with it didn't work. I've actually respected cnets reviews on a lot of stuff, but after I've seen too many HP products get high reviews from them, I wonder now if they even test them before they review them. CNET, you should use the printer in your office for a week before you write a review. It seems to me that you're basically telling us what the box says. I could go on for hours on how big of a piece of crap this so-called printer is, but I don't want to spend another second wasting my time. HP what the hell were you thinking?? CNET, I think I could do a way better joy reviewing these printers, and stop hurting yourself by letting HP pay you off to write good reviews. Tell it like it is. Don't buy this if you have any brains.

Summary: most of my experience is with the hp 8250 but that is the exact same print engine with same ink ..... ive also gotten to use the 3310 .... read alot about it.... recently i need to purchase a photo print for around $200... im a photographer and a part time computer guy ...so i sale photos and you can imagine i know alot about inkjets considering ive owned so many different ones over the years.... the good about the 3310... is the speed its very fast in draft mode... wireless networking is nice but you can purchase a printer and either get a wirless networking adaptor for it or a wireless usb print hub.... so being built in is not that big of a deal.... also hp made a few "breakthroughs" thier new permenant print head when it charges the print head it doesnt waste the ink like all other printers
it recycles it back into the cartridge...but wow hp made each cartridge between 3.5-6ML while canon and epson cartridges are always between 10-14ML so the breakthrough does nothing for you.... and Wow for some reason HP made all the cartridges different sizes hmmm i wonder why they did that?its because they designed the printer to have the cartridges all run out very close to the same time, so whats the point of haveing seperate cartridges??.... the reason this all-in-one gets a 3 from me is because they market it as a photo all in one... and they
are lureing customers in with that ink and paper package they sale for $36 folks ive owned many older hps that have that same package but as time rolls on the package will get harder and harder to find until you pay retail price for the ink and paper.... hp's needs to really focus on why they have been at 4800x1200 dpi for the last 4 years they are tied with lexmark for the worst quality on the market.. ive printed many photos on thier premium photo paper and advanced photo paper and compared to a mp500 or epson rx700 why on earth could you pay more for this printer thats given you a far less quality photo... the hp "viviera" ink is a dye ink .... its not waterproof on that premium paper you can lick you finger and take the ink right off i know this because
ive done it lol... on the advanced paper its
not as bad but still not totally
waterproof...also the only way you get that amazing 14 second speed 4x6 which is in draft mode (which sucks) is after the printer has warmed up and printed one photo and the only paper you can use is the advanced paper... since i sale my digital prints alot i always put my new printer to the test because each printer company claims 100+ years life of thier photo but only one actually has it i printed the same photo on the hp premium paper and the advanced paper and put them in direct sunlight for a few weeks and not only did the photos fade unlike hp said it wouldnt it turned blue lol... so lets see you pay $400 for a photo all in one that prints a 4x6 fast but is lower detail then any other photo all in one ...is not waterproof... or fade proof... you better not delete your pics off your memory card or pc because in 10 years they may be lost forever.... also ive read alot! about the small hindges hp is using to support the scanner bed when you change your ink locking up so you cant close your scanner bed... yea hp has decent support and during that 1 year warranty they'll replace it but what about after that one year?.... alot people think hp's print heads wont have ink cloggs... what they dont realize every
other printer hp makes beside thier brand new line and lasers... have had the print head built onto the cartridge... but with seperate ink you have to use a permentant printhead and permentant printheads clogg thats life so yes the 3310 will eventually clogg .... if you dont do photos and you got money to spend and you need a wireless faxer the 3310 is great for you but if want photos buy the Canon mp500 with a wirless adaptor and fax through your pc you save lots of money on the unit and you'll be 100% happier with the outcome.... now i have the rx620 and i suggest if you have need to sale prints you buy epson because they use pigmented ink which cant not fade ive tested epsons photos time after time.... pigmented ink as a rounder smoother droplet so even though epson has at a disadvange with 5760 x1440 dpi compared to the 9800x2400 that canon is at the photo can look as good because of the ink canon does use dye ink like hp but its a far better dye ink then hp.... also epson has fixed that ink tube problem thier older all in ones have had (which is any easy fix any way) by making it part of the print head and the rx700 is the only all in on that can print directly on to cd/dvd which is awesome... and pigmented is much better then any dye ink for matte photo because of the inks texture ... so pigmented ink is waterproof... fade proof... and brighter then dye ink.... i know im very long winded but i make a point to study every thing about everything before i buy it ...let me know if you have any questions

Summary: Wireless installation not as easy as most reviewers indicated. Took forever for the printer to recognize the IP address.
Out of the box, the scanner would not work. Called HP Support in India - spent 5 hours on the phone uninstalling, reinstalling, uninstalling software; crippling anti-virus, firewalls, and spy-sweeper. Scanner still would not work.
Attempted USB connection, scanner would not work. HP Support in India promised to send a CD with "new" software. That software is scheduled to arrive 7 days after initial problem.
24 hours later, print feature doesnt work even though all wireless settings are correct. Another phone call to India lasting one hour - not able to fix it.
This machine is designed beautifully and looks great. But it's going to be returned to Staples in the morning for a full refund.
This home office cannot be dormant for this long.

Desktop PC = Gigabyte Athlon64, 1GB RAM, lots of disk space, XP SP2, Kensington trackball+software, Bluetooth USB modem, other stuff.
As usual, HP puts out a printer that is desirable, but then goes and ruins the deal with their overwrought, bloated software packages. I don't understand why they feel they MUST re-invent the wheel and create problems for users. At least it runs more smoothly than their previous incarnations did--so far.
The quick start guide went flawlessly, mostly because I had just set up an identical unit for a client yesterday. His software went on flawlessly as well, although it takes forever since they write such bloated software packages these days.
When it came time to install the HP software (express version) on my desktop PC it stalled at step 3/4 "installing other software". HP's recommended fix from their web site was to stop MSN Messenger, which I ripped out by the roots when I built this machine, so that wasn't it. After much grief and testing I found that by killing the process named "wrapper.exe" that is created early in the installation it would proceed normally. You must also beat it to the punch and disable your virus and firewall software. Thanks for wasting 2 hours of my life, HP!
The express version installed flawlessly on my own laptop. Laptop = ancient IBM ThinkPad, XP SP2, D-Link 802.11g card.
Another boneheaded thing is that when I print a photo that I cropped to be much wider than it is tall, it crops out the long dimension and fills the page with the short dimension. No professional photo shop would ever do that, so why should these digital printers do it? It is totally counter-intuitive.
Otherwise, it is quiet, fast once it gets going, useful for what little I have had time to test at this early juncture. If there is more to tell I will post here.

Summary: Taken right out of the box and setting it up on the network (tried both ways (wireless and Wired)) was very easy using the 1,133MB full install with HP's Image Zone Photo and Imaging software, had no problem at all and tried everything except slides, negatives, sending Fax, PictBridge port and using the upper tray, all others I have used and find easy and great to use, does use a lot of memory and time to run it from the software but with the software for photo there is so much controls you can over ride from the auto settings for photo scanning, and even the 3D scanning is great as long as it is with in a few inches from the glass, they have come a long ways from scanning just a few years ago and I love it and if it keeps working for several years like my older scanner I had I think that it was well worth buying.
Tech support is not very supportive on knowing the system but was very polite over the phone the whole time, but was pushing to buy this and that for the printer which turned me off more for tech support but would find the answer if not knowing right then and there.
Updated
I have two wireless laptop computers (1 with Windows XP Home and the other Windows XP Professional) connected to a wireless/wired router and right now the printer is wired into the router and a DSL modem is connect to the router, I have also connected in the phone line with the printer a cordless telephone/answering machine and the printer is set up to monitor the line when the phone rings for faxes and did take over when a fax came in with no problems, when setting up right out of the box with the software for correct way to set up the phone line after answering questions of what I already had on the phone line the pictures and what to do was very easy to understand and follow, the wireless network setting on the printer for the max security settings does take a knowladge person to do but for the wired network part it would be a easy to do.

Summary: I should have known better after having gone through 2 deskjets but the salesman assured me this printer had been tested over and over. The quality and speed were great for the first 5 or so months. Now it won't do a thing but beep at me and say ink system failed. I tried HP.com - no go. I even did an uninstall and reinstalled - no go. HP support explained what I had to do - which is what I already had done and thanked me for buying their product and would I like to try another. Are you kidding? $400 every 7 or so months for 1 printer stinks in a major way. Now I have to run to the library every day, sometimes twice to get the printing done. BOO HISS
